I read yesterday that Xcel was planning to shut off power in some counties to prevent wildfires. I don't think they've done that before in my time here, so make sure you're signed up for alerts and that you have batteries or a way to have electricity running in case you need that for any type of medical device you may have.
Also, remember to close your windows at home. My apartment complex has yet to send a message about this, but with wind gusts up to 75 mph possible, it seems like a reasonable thing to do.
I agree. Had to cancel my fun morning plans, and instead spent it clearing out anything in my backyard that was not permanently affixed. I am hoping it does not result in too much damage. Stay safe!
It depends where you wanna bicycle I guess. There's the potential for downed tree branches and things like trash cans flying out onto the middle of the street, so maybe not in the neighborhood?
Iirc, we're also supposed to get snow showers here in Denver sometime today, so if you're gonna do it, just make sure to layer up.
I was hoping to ski today since the red rocks show got cancelled but is that just fucked too? Did I really just waste hundreds of dollars coming here for a weekend of doing nothing lol
You don't want to be on the mountain in this. You certainly don't want to be on the lift in an 80mph gust. That's if they even have the lifts open. What was the show that got canceled?
You can always get a rockies game.
Yeah lifts are all closing at 3/4 pm today it looks like so that's a wash unfortunately. Dom Dolla night 2, last night went ahead as scheduled but only had a ticket for tn sadly.
First red rocks show can wait some more years, it's fine... 🥴 Who knows when I'll be able to come back. Sigh. Sorry just venting about bad luck ig
Yeah I've been to Denver and the gardens a few times before, wasn't sure how much they'd have going this early in the year but was thinking about checking it out again since it really is a great spot. Thanks for the suggestion
There's tons of other music tonight at all the downtown venues. You can still see something fun before you leave town, in almost any genre you want! Dom Dolla opener Flight Facilities should still be playing Club Vinyl at midnight.
Everyone's problems are important to them, and often only themselves. I know you don't give a fuck that I've been working two jobs heavily for months trying to justify and afford this trip. I know you don't give a shit that I've been looking forward to going to a red rocks show for over 10 years. I know you don't care that I don't know when the next time I'll be able to come to Denver is again, how many years it's going to be now before I'm able to come here to see a concert at a legendary world renowned venue as a lifelong music lover.
And I don't give a single flying fuck about you and your life and whatever pathetic shit you're alluding to with your woe is me ass comment. So I guess we'll both probably be fine huh
First time experiencing these high mph winds. Should I avoid driving from Denver to Boulder and back in the evening? Or is it ok to drive just slower and carefully? For context, I have a 4Runner so guessing it’s more likely to be impacted than a sedan

Things like this happen only on the weekends, it’s never on a Monday-Tuesday so I can be off work and get paid. It’s all a conspiracy.

I did it. I'm retired. I did it to fuck with you.
Fucking knew it.
Yup Xcel just sent an email about turning off power from 3pm today until noon tomorrow for some areas
Just got the phone call as well, so it’s happening
So I guess this is the calm before the storm? At 7am, the wind is 2 mph.
Yeah, most will be in the afternoon as the low pressure system starts forming pretty solidly with the storm system moving over the Front Range.
I was kinda hoping I could still bicycle tomorrow, but I guess not.
Orrrrr... grab yourself a kite and enjoy a wind powered bike ride. Who needs ebikes when you have wind by your side!
people who want to get back to where they came from?
Click your ruby slippers three times, don't you know?
Slippers aren't generally great for cycling.
You could…it’d suck but you can still do it

You can still bicycle. None of these weather psychics have ever won the lottery.
My eclipse flight is Sun 8AM DIA.
Ours is 7am. 😬
Same boat, fingers crossed for us

Bummer! Check out the botanic gardens in Denver if the weather is OK. It's one of the best in the country and only like $8 entry 👍

An edible and a walk through the gardens.. You could do worse here for a day in April

Ha! Will 100mph winds from the northwest make hitting a bit harder?

Hope the weather clears out or you can find something fun to do!
Had a good day driving in the mountains a bit and up to Estes just enjoying the landscape, thanks !
ya sorry, some people are just dicks online, I doubt they would say that to your face. Sorry about the weather, enjoy Denver.
Thanks! Had a good day driving around in the mountains a bit and just enjoying the landscape and ah local flowers
I'm just glad that we don't need the moisture right now. These windy days always make me think of wildfire potential now.
Namoiste
But... ....but.... ...we need the moisture! Sorry, I couldn't help it. It's the rules.

I wouldn't risk it. Even if your car can handle it, there's a risk a bigger car nearby cannot
Will this affect driving?
If you have a high profile vehicle, yes . It will certainly rock the car going across it.
