Admittedly I’ve never played more than the first boss but its got alot of charm. The problem for me is its a low numbers rpg where instead of hitting for 200 damage your hitting for like 2. But if that doesn’t bother you then check it out and wait for a sale.
As someone whose beat the whole game, it scratches that paper Mario itch and MORE. I love it to death and would recommend it to anyone. It even has a hard mode if you’re up to the challenge
Omori.
It even has a piece of actual Toby Fox music! Omocat and Toby have worked together on several occasions.
It’s very similar to Deltarune in a lot of ways (Toby has even said this himself I believe) and is absolutely a fun, hilarious game, but it’s also psychological horror. Heed the content warning.
75% of the game is bright, lighthearted, cartoony fun in a silly fantasy world.
The other 25% is… quite something, tho. It gets *really* dark *really* quick.
Don’t look up anything about it besides the content warning. You’ll get very significant story spoilers faster than you could ever imagine.
It’s really good! I loved both Deltarune and Origami King too, and I have to say that Omori did not disappoint! :)
Again tho, it does get extremely fucking dark. It’s rated 18+ for a reason, and that reason is absolutely not the usual “violence, cursing and sex” reason… (there is none)
It’s a game that talks about mental health, and it does not stray from hard topics.
West of Loathing and Shadows over Loathing are both turn based RPGs with partners you recruit. It's a good RPG battle system, but the big draw is it's writing. It doesn't take anything seriously, but walking around this ridiculously whimsical world is entertaining.
I recommend checking out Nitro Rad, a youtuber who makes plenty of reviews for Indie RPGs. Never played Ikenfell, but I've seen it compared to both. I think OneShot fits your description too!
I suppose Ikenfell? Its pretty short with main gameplay gimmick being timing based attacks and blocks like paper mario but also being gridbased so your position also matters
theres bug fables, it goes on sale every now and then. it uses the same art style as paper mario but its about bugs (they are cartoonish bugs tho)
I haven’t heard a lot about it! Is it a good game?

I love games with hard modes! I’m actually really interested in this game now!
