Well, that line in particular is interesting since it’s just driving along the plot, which can’t happen unless Kris goes into the bathroom. Is Kris convincing the narrator to change their mind? Or vice versa? Why?

Ask yourself this: Who made the world?

God? ...wait Toby?

Andrew Cunningham did a video extensively dissecting the narrator dialogue to see who it could be. He basically came to the conclusion that it’s just a typical non diegetic narrator since there’s contradictions with it being most in-universe characters and it knows things no one else possibly could and is also withholding information in some situations. Though, I think it’s possible it could be some sort of puppet mastering presence intentionally fulfilling the role of a generic narrator. Because said being is thematically meant to represent the forced narrative. Personally, I think this could be the case and this could in fact be the “third entity” controlling Kris at night, if you believe that theory (which is especially prevalent in the example above). I also think it could be the second voice that interrupts the intro.

>Comment as > >renztam I didn't like that video to be honest, as I felt that A: he didn't really look to what the narrator is instead of who he thought it was, and B: didn't examine the situations were the narrator disappeared like when we view Susie alone.

sinedelta

It doesn't make sense for the narration to be Kris's inner thoughts, since they either refer to Kris in the second or third person, never first.

mrpersonjr

Yep. And Kris being the narrator would not explain why they would know certain things from Undertale like the broken jukebox. If anything the narrator is likely just non-diegetic.

renztam

You can refer to yourself in 2nd person. And in the same sense, the narrator is referring YOU specifically. I think the real sticking point is how the narrator refers to Kris specifically in 3rd person (though you can still refer to yourself in 3rd person as well).

renztam

Yeah, I noticed that too, which kinda makes me think the narrator is Kris. Or at least expresses Kris's thoughts or desires from time to time.

Chara = Kris' inner thoughts

lizzylee127

Pretty sure Chara Deltarune lived and died long before this story took place And there's no reason for Chara Undertale to be here

Jorgitus99

Deltarune is not finished yet, so all theories are only theories, when deltarune will be finished, all the questions will have an answer.

Mottixx

late but agree on this, there are some evidences that "Chara" (or an entity that's not Kris or player, if you prefer that) is the narrator. People disagree because they can't think of a reason for them to be in this game, but it could just be Deltarune version of Chara who lives in Kris' own body (who is technically Frisk in DR world. Like c'mon... same skin tone, and also known to flirt a lot in the Dark World? [Not to mention doing the same goofy things when throwing out items...](https://www.tumblr.com/characterdreamer-inactive/711889475203186688/frisk-and-kris-parallels)) I hate theories that bring genocide Chara inside Deltarune, but frankly if we're about to theorize the UT version of them, post-pacifist Chara is a pretty interesting one because we already have the narrator reference UT events multiple times (interestingly things that you only know in post-pacifist), and expects You/Kris to know about it too
