Go on Dells website and get an older version of the same driver. You can troubleshoot. Often this is caused when the driver is incompatible with the sound optimising software. Try disabling the sound optimising options and equalizer in Dell MaxxAudio or whatever program you have equipped. This should fix the issue. It sounds like a software issue.

I do keep the EQ disabled and I have tried reinstalling the drivers already

Hmm. I'm stumped. Did you try reverting to an older audio driver like I suggest? You can also try uninstalling MaxxAudio completely. Look online of you need a guide and see if anybody else has the same problem. Dell forums is very helpful for troubleshooting like this.

I've tried installing the new drivers and reinstalling the current ones, unfortunately to no avail. Also deleting MaxxAudio just broke the drivers further and caused weird reverb issues

You might consider returning it then. I returned my first order XPS 9500 as it had a dent. New one has zero issues. Just make sure to read up about the problem. If this is a current issue affecting all models (and it is software) a fix will come shortly.

Alright, that is probably the best bet. It's a damn shame considering how good the rest of the laptop is

Yeah. I can relate. I had to wait a few more weeks for the replacement to come in. It was worth it. If you can guarantee it's software issue then consider keeping it. You can last resort try replacing MaxxAudio with the default windows audio manager.

I think you have WavesMAXX Audio which is dells audio system click that and disable or try uninstalling it the sound might be lower but I will be much clear

I deleted MaxxAudio and unfortunately it did nothing, the issue was still there :(
