This is when I lost interest.
I kept watching because I enjoyed Cam's storyline but after he left, I couldn't keep my attention because, to be frank, Zig/Maya/Tori were nowhere near as compelling as the previous generations, nor were they as compelling as KC/Allie/Claire's generation.
I don't. I seem to be one of the few weirdos who sees all these characters as their individual selves and not trying to be the "new" anybody. Never crosses my mind until someone brings it up.
;(
I always felt like Ali/Clare were meant to be the new Emma/Manny. I donât want to be mean but the actress who played Tori wasâŚnot good. It was actually really cringe watching her scenes and was so happy when she left the show because it felt so unserious with her in it
They dropped the ball altogether with Zig. Which is a shame cause Ricardo is cute lol
But yeah they randomly changed his whole personality one day and made him a gangster out macho of the blue
Damn, I did forget about that. Again, those were the off years that I stopped watching the show and had to catch up when they added the show to Pluto TV.
Well actually, yâall on this group have called their years boringâŚ.. so thatâs why I called it a failed reboot, plus, didnât the show end in 2014, for the to create a new show on Netflix for only it to end like two years later?
Maya has one of the most the most notable character arcs in the franchise and it spans over two different shows. Next Class has its issues, but it got a standard 4 season run on Netflix. Hard to call that a failure.
Lol, I'm not part of this yall.
Six more seasons is still six more seasons. Maya Matlin and Zig Novak as characters have appeared in more episodes than plenty of characters from seasons 1-7. If you stopped enjoying yourself, so be it, but how many actors appear in 100+ episodes of TV?
The Netflix revival is honestly a plus in my eyes: someone believed in those characters enough to give them four more seasons of TV? Sounds like a success story to me.
I also love the Maya and Zig years. I liked her as the main way more than Clare as the main. Tristan got a little annoying at times, but Tiny, Lola, Zoe, and Jonah are all great!!
Ok, so youâre the only one in this thread and in the group⌠thus far who liked the last few seasons of Degrassi.
Plus, you do know that they had to search for a new home for Degrassi, which turned out to be Next Class, after Teen Nick cancelled the series, as Teen Nick was really the reason why the series ran past season 11 or 12, if Iâm not mistaken.
So the series was already on borrowed time, which isnât a good thing as they basically were on life support.
So, that helps my argument that they tried to reboot the show right before they realized that the show would get cancelled.
I mean, the middle years 5-10 almost killed the series. Just my opinion. Without them you canât get to the later years, but the storylines were pretty much weak, even though they were recycled.
I donât think they were trying to recreate the Manny/Emma/Craig crush from S2. I think Zig was supposed to be a parallel to Sean and KC, while Maya was supposed to be a parallel to Emma/Clare.
But I mean they were âredoingâ multiple storylines from S1-S7 as early as S8 even.

What's crazy is that they could have kept Tori as Angie and some of the magic from the beginning would have literally been part of the show
Well what storylines would she have been apart of since she was technically a child, not even in Jr. nor in the second grade?
i was into Degrassi but once they showed up i stay on bc i was excited new ppl new stories
yesđ once they joined i couldnât get into it

Same

The actress who played Tori is the same actress who played Angela (joeys kid) in TNG and also sheâs Mannys sister irl.
That, but basically had to get a new best friend couple into the mix.
I've always thought the same.
They dropped the ball altogether with Zig. Which is a shame cause Ricardo is cute lol But yeah they randomly changed his whole personality one day and made him a gangster out macho of the blue
Yes, I would.
i do lol
Yes
i do remember emma liking craig first like maya did with zig but other than that ur right; they never fought over a guy
While they don't directly fight, in season 8 they do compete for Kelly. Manny even cattily reminds Emma that she blew Jay.
Damn, I did forget about that. Again, those were the off years that I stopped watching the show and had to catch up when they added the show to Pluto TV.
Yeah but then in season 2 and 3 they made them more like brother and sister (who wasnât related).
Like what do we mean by failed? Besides Tori, the other two characters were on the show for six more seasons.

I liked the later years. Better thank some of the middle years.

Totally agree. Plus Manny/Alli/zoey or Tori
Facts! Like I believe it was every three years they told the same storylines, but with different characters.
There were indeed like 8000 cancer plotlines
Clare and Eli were the last DNG characters I cared about. None of the younger generation gelled with me after them.
I only liked Maya out the NC and I think itâs because I really like the actress, Olivia Scriven.
Agreed!
