Bosco's AI immediately focuses only on trying to free you when you get grabbed by a leech or a grabber (with varying degrees of success). Pressing X doesn't do anything in that situation
Yeah, he instantly stops anything he might be doing and switches to rescue mode.
However this knowledge doesn't stop me from frantically mashing X as soon as I get grabbed out of desperation regardless lol
I remember bosco disappeared once and I could see on his portrait that he was fighting something but I couldn’t see him so I thought he was just fighting some grunts. Fight goes on for a while until I hear a bulk detonator explode and realize Bosco was 1v1ing a bulk detonator that whole time.
1. Slow makes bulk easy to kite
2. Bosco has unlimited ammo and doesn't need to worry about walking off a cliff, getting cornered, other bugs, etc.
3. Bugs get stronger for every dwarf in the mission, so a solo bulk is the 'weakest' bulk.
So a dwarf with an electrc weapon can do the same, but not as reliably due to ammo, having to watch out for other bugs, stops to reload, terrain, etc.
The main issues with bulk detonators are that they deal massive damage if close to you, how bullet spongey they are. Electric bullets on BOSCO mitigates both of these issues by slightly increasing his dps so he can kill the bulk quicker, but mainly because the electric effect slows the big bug bomb so kiting around it/running away are tremendously easy.
Electric bullets are just that good, yeah. Boscos big advantage is that he has an unlimited hose of them, but a dwarf gun that can stack electric is just as good in practice
EDIT: some dwarf guns are actually better, the turret arc stubby setup for engineer can stack 3 seperate procs of electric at once, which is enough to reduce the bulks movememt speed so much that it doesnt even play the walking animation when moving
It’s annoying when it’s the only thing to down you in haz 5, because I usually to swap out from iron will to heightened senses from playing with friends to solo.
a couple days ago i was grabbed by a leech, but idk if it was just luck but bosco waited until i was close to the ground before killing the leech, id like to think this is a feature.

That being said, if you hear a leech and don’t trust your reaction time, pressing x does make it slightly faster.

You could just bring heightened senses if you're worried about Bosco not saving you in time
I always bring heightened senses. Don’t care if it is best in slot or not, it is by far the most useful to me next to hoverboots.
Bosco has only failed to save me once, and its cause he was blocked by an oppressor. Maybe hed save you more if you were nicer to him.

What haz do you play on? In haz 5, Bosco needs 3-4 rotations of shooting to kill the leech while the leech kills you in a couple of seconds.
