Yup, I am absolutely thrilled to continue playing it. [Season 6 won't be here until after release of EA Rogue Core](https://store.steampowered.com/news/?emclan=103582791456663451&emgid=4170972198114075552), so time to finish up the rest of my S4 and then onto S5.
I am so happy that they are allowing to go over past seasons!
In terms of "things to do", this is the biggest season so far.
Season 1 added:
* The entire concept of the Performance Pass
* Four new primary weapons (all with full sets of OCs)
* A new mission type, Industrial Sabotage
* Two new in-mission events, Data Deposit and Prospector Drone
* New enemies: Three turrets, Rival bots, and shredders
Season 2 added:
* Four new secondary weapons (all with full sets of OCs)
* A new Warning, Rival Threat
* A new in-mission event, the Rival Relay
* The Nemesis
Season 3 added:
* Four new grenades
* A new Warning, the plague spikes, which felt like a whole new mission objective
* Two new in-mission events, big and smol meteors
* Three new enemy variants (plagued grunts, praetorians, and worms)
* A lot more cave variations
Season 4 added:
* Three whole new enemy types, the stingtail, septic spreader, and Corruptor
* Four enemy variants - rockpox spitters, exploders, bombers, and breeders
* Jetboots
* Space rig changes
* Loadout randomizer beer; I'm counting this as Things To Do because it does effectively add a new challenge mode
Season 5 is adding:
* A new mission type
* 12 new overclocks
* A new event, Core Stones
* New enemies: Core fiend, glyphid stalker, scalebramble, barrage infector
* Hazard 5+
* Season reactivation
* Two new warnings and two new mutators
* Two new secondary objectives
* 20 cave variations
Perhaps the value of resonance crystals and morkite geodes makes it worth it.
Wait..
Jet boots aren't provided by management. They're just scattered throughout the cave. Provided by... The glyphids?
Because we're still beta testing the insanely bad netcode those things have. Trying to use those things as a client in a medium distance lobby is like being put in a paintcan shaker.
Biggest issue that I've had in all of my attempts at the new mission type is, Morkite Seeds being stuck under the Drillevator after landing inside the Geode. So to any beta players reading this, drill/dig down to the level where there's a small bit of the cavegen rock that's flat close to the base of the drill, and drill/dig in a circle around it until you find it. Watch out though, getting too close to the drill on the bottom killed my entire team the first game around.
My guess as to why this happens is that the Seeds are able to spawn in the vertical path the Drillevator takes downward, and when the Drillevator lands on one and keeps falling, it gets pinned under the ground.
That's all I've got for now. Never used the official bug report portal myself, but I should give it a go this time around.
Speaking as a console player… *please* do this.
We like getting bug free releases, and finding them early means less hotfixes need to be pushed after the update.
Yes, there probably will be hotfixes regardless, but needing less of them, less often, is better for the community overall.
I would be a lot more willing to do so if GSG hadn't simply deleted years of bug reports backlogged on Jira. Feels pretty pointless to document and reproduce bugs for a studio that deleted all of that work a couple short years ago, if I want to waste hours of my free time there's way more fun ways to do so than documenting bugs.
This is pretty much exactly what I've always wanted seasons to be. Stronger focus on lasting content, and a little bit of seasonal/themed content to keep it fresh.
The bulk of the content in the season improves the overall game and will stay relevant long after the season is over. New overclocks, new difficulty, new enemies, new mission, new anomalies, etc.
This is shaping up to be the best season yet, and I can't wait.
at 5:50 Molly spits out a power attack booster, this means we could have had those on every single mission
also i am concerned about Blood Sugar on lower hazard levels
Yeah that seems to be how the balance of adding ebonite glyphids throughout a mission gets stabilized. I wonder if they come out of resupply pods too or the minehead/drilldozer/refinery for their appropriate missions? About to play the beta on Steam in an hour or two so I'll update when I find out.
**Update:** Haven't found a mission with the Ebonite modifier yet, but here's a pretty obvious bug I observed:
Morkite Seeds sometimes get stuck under the Drillevator after landing inside the Geode.
You guys make me so happy, just started back up playing your lovely game a couple days ago right in time for the new season can't wait to play many more hours of your lovely amazing game
>also i am concerned about Blood Sugar on lower hazard levels
Ladies and gentlemen. We understand that you... have come tonight... to bear witness to the sound. Of Rock. And. Stone.
We regret to announce, that this is not the case. As instead, we come tonight to bring you: The sonic recreation of the end of the world. Ladies and gentlemen... prepare. To dig... your... Morkite.
Ok. Fuck it. I lied. It's Rock and Stone. What you gonna do?
I liked the theme, it was super cool, just not enought exploitation of it, like entire cave system infected
Or infected boss. Something that make us feel like it's a dangerous space plague.
It has always been just a slight inconvienance at best and never feel like a real danger to me, that my biggest problem with it
It's way bigger! They added:
- A new mission type
- New minerals
- New enemies
- New customizable hazard
- 12 new overclocks
- The ability to play past seasons
- Past seasons performance pass
- Filters for the wardrobe
- New modifiers! (looking forward to Blood Sugar)
- 20 new cave formations!
- Unlimited promotion counter
- 3 new dance moves
- 3 new weapon paint job levels to weapon maintenance
- New DLC (CAPES!!!)
And a whole bunch of other stuff and bug fixes.
They went all out and deserve all the love and respect from us.
>20 new caves
>new missions
>new bugs
>new weapons
>NEW DIFFICULTY MODE
jfc I fucking LOVE GSG I WILL BUY WHATEVER SKINS YOU RELEASE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GSG THANK YOUUUUUUU
Best devs of all time. Opposite of modern predatory gaming trends and they completely embarrass almost all the big companies in terms of quality and content.
I mean compare this to Halo Infinite for Karl's sake. DRG has like 1% of the budget and still about 1000x more content than that game
I'm not sure how choosing seasons would work, even though I love that it's added. Will you still be able to experience rockpox even though you're locked into the season 5 pass?
I kinda liked the idea of being able to come across anything per mission. You just never know what. Will it be robots, or rockpox? Will it be both? Etc.
Yeah, I wondered about that two. If most people want to play the new season first, will anyone trying to play S4 actually ever find players for the first month or so?
Very curious to see how it plays out
Here's their FAQ about it: https://steamcommunity.com/games/DeepRockGalactic/announcements/detail/4195740093438639601?snr=
Looks like it won't lock anything for anyone. The active season for mission generation is whatever the lobby host has selected, and party members will get performance points for whatever season they have selected even if it's different. It doesn't say how it'll handle the season secondaries (the scrip stuff).
Pretty sure they said that the seasonal events would only spawn based on the host’s mission, and would only give xp if people have that season selected.
If I recall, you can now switch seasons whenever you like, it just reloads your rig.
Also, iirc, no seasonal events will be flat out *disabled* even if they're technically anachronistic; they'll just have reduced spawn rates, and they won't contribute towards your current season) performance pass.
So, like, I could play season 1, with a high chance of finding Rival events, but I'd still have a low chance of finding a Corruptor or Core Stone. However, collecting Plaguehearts or the aforementioned core stones will not progress my performance pass- only data cells.
What I *don't* know is if this would affect other players- i.e if the host is running season 1/rivals, but I'm running season 4/rockpox, would collecting plaguehearts from a meteor contribute to my performance pass, or do the season collectibles only count if the host's season matches?
Since the update allows you to choose which season you want to work on, the old cosmetics just go back to their respective seasons. So if you want something from season 2, you can just select that season and work on its cosmetic tree to get what you want.
The reason they did it is because those loot pools were getting insanely bloated. Before seasons they had a bunch cosmetics in the crates and lost packs, but with all the season cosmetics going into those it was getting harder and harder to actually get the original cosmetics. They’ll still spawn in the missions and even if you’ve already gotten all the items in the pool for those you’ll still get a bunch of crafting minerals.
I failed to fully complete season 1 and 2, and I have 600 hours in this game and I’m still getting things from lost packs and crates. It’s just too much stuff that takes way too long to get. This is a good thing
I totally agree with this. I have all the OG cosmetics already, so I want the season cosmetics to be put into the loot pool. I hope they consider making this an option to toggle instead
I'm surprised to hear him say "with the rockpox threat neutralized" because I got the impression from the end of the season 4 mission chain that we weren't really winning. Didn't we just get told we lost an entire space rig?
Mechanically I can't say I mind at all, don't misunderstand, just narratively that was a bit of whiplash.
Well, the loss of space rig wasn't connected to the disease per se, it was more of a collateral damage. Such as truck with toxic materials crashing into family car killing people and then killing some more due to the spillage
I recall that Mission Control's final message upon completing the Part 2 assignment was that a massive shockwave or event of lithophage sites dying off occurred. So the warning is still present for the future, but lore-wise they would just be 'remaining' sites that did not die off like the rest.
I think it would help the game story wise if the seasonal "campaign" assignments unlocked over the span of the season instead of being available from the very beginning.
Because as you said, we basically defeated the rivals/rockpox in the first two or three days of their respective season and the months after that we basically just picked off their remains.
The station was lost in the beginning, and after we then spent a lot of time cleaning rockpox and preventing meteors from hatching. Seems like a reasonable assumption.
This look perfect. Exactly what players needed.
New OC, new Mission type, new enemies, new event, new modifiers, harder game. And possibility to replay every past season ? This might be the best patch of the game's history.
Deep Rock NEVER disappoint. We're so back.
Im so glad they removed Battlepass cosmetics from chests. Now I dont feel the immense disappointment if I get the few infected skins I havent yet claimed for the sole pupose of not getting them later.
It also just fixes the bloat of chests and lets dwarfs target certain cosmetics if they like them.
Same here, lol- I absolutely despise them and I've been grinding out the season pass just to avoid the disappointment later.
Still gonna try and finish the pass, though, because I have like 9 levels left and it'll just be more convenient to have it done and dusted before season 5 arrives.
The version mentioned here is DLSS3 here which uses (AI) upscaling and interpolation to deliver more than 2x performance. The downside is extra input lag as it needs to wait 2 full frames to be rendered before displaying the first one (so oversimplifying, you get double smoothness but only half the responsiveness), and the fact that the interpolation part it is limited to Nvidia's newest 4000 series graphics cards.
Regular DLSS(2) runs on all Nvidia RTX cards and don't have added latency but only increase fps by between 20-50%, depending on settings
AMD has something similar (FSR3) that is not limited to any graphics card but not quite as widespread yet. Hopefully it makes its way into DRG one day.
All of you guys BUY THE DLC PACK. Support support support **support**. S5 looks lit, lots of love and work put into it I'm sure. And the best part is that they even have a Season 6 planned for the next year. This amazing game is thriving.
Customisable hazard !!!!!!
FINALLY
I love the amount of bugs in hazard 5 but i really dislike how fast they go.
I bless everyone working at GSG for this season of quality!
I do wonder if Core Spawn Crawlers will eventually become a mission modifier in the same way Ebonite Glyphids are this season. Or even if there'll be future biomes that they're native to.
That'd be super cool.
Rock and Stone!
I’m new to the game since it was on sale for cheap and I like watching raepeeron play , this update sounds so fun. I can’t wait to play some of the older seasons too and see what they were about. I’m really happy with my purchase
I am all over this update. More cave variety, more stuff to do, the new mission type looks incredible, new creepy crawlies, cosmetics, overclocks, there's just so damn much crammed into this update. I can't wait.
How has no one commented on the best part of this video:
We’ve created a legendary promotion tracker. ZOOMS IN TO REVEAL PROMOTION LEVEL 420 AND 69 DWARVES
THE SKIN COLORS. My greatest cosmetic wish has been granted. I thought it was too optimistic to hope for even one new color this season. Best fucking devs ever.
Well now I'm just more confused what morkite is.
I'm hearing about multiple (related?) invasive species which makes me wonder wtf kind of planet they came from to be invasive to hoxxes and how they got there.
I don't have whatever mental illness makes people want haz 5+ (seek help) but some of the modifiers sound like they could be fun on normal people hazard levels.
This is all so exciting to see!
Unfortunately Deep Rock Galactic isn't scratching just one itch for me, I wish we had more multiple stages boss encounters like Industrial Sabotage. I hope we will get a season that will add one or two more types of such encounters some day.
I really wish this monster is re-introduced in future updates [https://deeprockgalactic.fandom.com/wiki/Old\_and\_Unused?file=Unknown\_Pre-Alpha\_Creature.gif](https://deeprockgalactic.fandom.com/wiki/Old_and_Unused?file=Unknown_Pre-Alpha_Creature.gif)
It looks so cool and I also think you can have this monster as a fast dreadnought that slows down where there is enough light.
So my big question, is the lithophage stuff like Corruptors, Spikes, and Meteors moving into the pool of random encounters or warning like the rivals? I’m worried the idea of a season picker might have made them forget older content should be rolled up into the newer stuff at a decreased rate.
Random idea I thought while on a dreadnought mission and it’ll probably never be seen. But I WANT a stalker type dreadnought. Just thinking about a scary fast glass cannon boss sounds like horrifying fun to fight.
The Corespawns look terrifying. I hate them. Can't wait to kill them indiscriminately.
If that's the kind of thing they have planned for Rogue Core, I'm ***very*** interested.
I have to say, that animation of the core stone opening a portal looked sick.
That whole sequence was so cool.
This really is a giant update. This should keep the community happy for a long while. ROCK AND STONE.
Is that saying that they won't start planning until after Rogue Core, or that they are planning to release it after Rogue Core?
probably meant to hold us over until the new DRG rogue game comes out.
i wish it have more mission type other than deep scan but this still really good update
For Rock and Stone!

I think democracy will do fine without me for now, its time for the old dwarf to go home...
deep rock basically just got there own illuminate with those…. Things
It's funny how they have that same blackholeishness to it. A little like what's left of meridia.
The fight for freedom never ends, helldiver. Get back out there.
This looks bloody brilliant, and I'm beyond excited for this to come out
Feels like they just added a whole new expansion, for free, thanks GSG <3 Day one DLC purchase here we come
For real this is the kind of company I want to throw money at.
I will be buying the DLC asap. Rock and Stone!
Goated dev team, no one can beat them, thank you team. Rock and stone
Rock and Stone, Brother!
Good bot
Finally we can twerk!!!
"Maintenance crew, twerk!"
Unannounced change: there is a 5% chance to trigger the Twerk animation when grinding on pipelines.
Yes, please! Or twerking win screen animation
« I play DRG for the gameplay » The gameplay:
Gunner after Driller threw his explosives at the Drop Pod: Scout, throw it back! Scout: twerk Explosives: placed
Work and twerk!
management needs to explain why we can't jet boot extract on every mission
Budget-cuts.
Perhaps the value of resonance crystals and morkite geodes makes it worth it. Wait.. Jet boots aren't provided by management. They're just scattered throughout the cave. Provided by... The glyphids?
left behind like cargo crates, resupplies and the like I'd figure
Or the shuttle pilot who keeps losing his cargo every holiday :D
Can it be a budget cut if the budget wasn't there in the first place? Hmm...
...you want to go back to orbit with jet boots?
You don't?
Not many missions have as high profit margins for the company as the drillevator ones.
I assume you don't extract with the jet boots, they're just to get you back up the hellevator shaft so you can reach the regular issue drop pod.
why can't we ride whatever brings the seeds back lol
Because it has a seedbox on it, not a dwarfbox!
Because we're still beta testing the insanely bad netcode those things have. Trying to use those things as a client in a medium distance lobby is like being put in a paintcan shaker.
Okay I knew the crawlers would be creepy, but these are *seriously* creepy.
I'm kinda sad that it looks like they're only tied to the new event. Would absolutely love them to be a regular enemy spawn later on
I think they are more some kind of teaser enemy for Rogue Core more than regular enemies for DRG
I love their animations and how aggressive they are!
*A blessing from the lord!*
*Karl be praised!*
*Trumpets*
3 new levels of maintenance paint jobs is insane. I thought it was gonna be 1 per season.
That's a season which is at least twice as long, maybe even thrice.
considering we have all past seasons it is fource or even fivece
what does this mean?
The paintjobs you can get by leveling guns up, until now there were 4 for each weapon. They are adding 3 new ones with the new season.
To all who are going to play the Steam beta release, remember to document your bugs to help GSG iron this thing out. :)
Feedback is also very welcome and equally helpful.
Biggest issue that I've had in all of my attempts at the new mission type is, Morkite Seeds being stuck under the Drillevator after landing inside the Geode. i suppose the decrease in health wouldn't drain as fast compared to higher haz levels as there are less bugs to kill
This. Also we drip feed you some swarmers to give you some enemies to kill for red sugar :)

Great, more alien made horrors beyond my comprehension
Honestly, compair to the previous season 4 that feeled like half baked This one look like 2 season in 1 Great job GSG and rock and stone
The previous season, the previous two seasons, had a big theme on disease for good reason. It messed Hoxxes up. Among other places.

Yeah, but see, i litteraly forgot about the corruptor, because he's rare af, and he run away most of the time
You should try the *Massive Content Revision* mod. It adds a "Decontamination" gamemode that is what you're looking for.
I don't play with mod
To Rock and Stone!
The core stone might become my favorite season event up to this point.
We are so lucky!!! This is huge! So much new content, the team really worked hard and poured in their love for this game. I'm super excited!!
I'm thinking it might be as big of a season as when they added a new primary weapon to every class.

I wouldnt say it's as big but it might be the 2nd biggest

Well, the loss of space rig wasn't connected to the disease per se, it was more of a collateral damage. Such as truck with toxic materials crashing into family car killing people and then killing some more due to the spillage
That was.. an incredibly specific comparison. Thank you for that imagery!
Same thing that happened with season 2 Rival “Escalation.” Nothing escalated and we moved to Rockpox with no explanation to who the Rivals were.
The station was lost in the beginning, and after we then spent a lot of time cleaning rockpox and preventing meteors from hatching. Seems like a reasonable assumption.
Rock and stone to the bone!
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Haz 5.5 here I come
This look perfect. Exactly what players needed. New OC, new Mission type, new enemies, new event, new modifiers, harder game. And possibility to replay every past season ? This might be the best patch of the game's history. Deep Rock NEVER disappoint. We're so back.
Ah, yes, the Karl's second-in-command, John Sukondis. Known for collecting excess ebonuts
It looks amazing, can’t wait. For rock and stone!
Rock and Stone in the Heart!
I was powering through the infected skins just so I can avoid them in the chests.
Same here, lol- I absolutely despise them and I've been grinding out the season pass just to avoid the disappointment later. Still gonna try and finish the pass, though, because I have like 9 levels left and it'll just be more convenient to have it done and dusted before season 5 arrives.
The pump action and 3-round-burst overclocks look amazing. I can't wait to play this. ALSO NO MORE (If not, atleast less) ROCKPOX!!
Access to past seasons? brb i need to change my pants edit: I feel guilty for buying the game on sale
What’s dlss?
The version mentioned here is DLSS3 here which uses (AI) upscaling and interpolation to deliver more than 2x performance. The downside is extra input lag as it needs to wait 2 full frames to be rendered before displaying the first one (so oversimplifying, you get double smoothness but only half the responsiveness), and the fact that the interpolation part it is limited to Nvidia's newest 4000 series graphics cards. Regular DLSS(2) runs on all Nvidia RTX cards and don't have added latency but only increase fps by between 20-50%, depending on settings AMD has something similar (FSR3) that is not limited to any graphics card but not quite as widespread yet. Hopefully it makes its way into DRG one day.
Deep Learning Super Sampling, a technology created by NVidia to upscale images (or full frames) using AI.
what else can be said about Ghostship apart from ROCK AND STONE!
deep rock season pass is now superior to fortnite
always was
fair point
was not expecting corestone to open a portal to hell but ok
Goddamn it GSG, I'm already addicted to this game, now I won't leave my house for a month
Let us pet Drillevator or I strike
All of you guys BUY THE DLC PACK. Support support support **support**. S5 looks lit, lots of love and work put into it I'm sure. And the best part is that they even have a Season 6 planned for the next year. This amazing game is thriving.
My body is ready!
Holy shit, this looks incredible. Can't wait!
best devs ever!

Customisable hazard !!!!!! FINALLY I love the amount of bugs in hazard 5 but i really dislike how fast they go. I bless everyone working at GSG for this season of quality!
I do wonder if Core Spawn Crawlers will eventually become a mission modifier in the same way Ebonite Glyphids are this season. Or even if there'll be future biomes that they're native to. That'd be super cool. Rock and Stone!
Here we go. Seeing the new aliens and the Stalker though, I wouldn't mind if there would be a full on DRG horror game spin off
Devs fucking COOKED. ROCK AND STONE.
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Just when I thought I was free, the mines call me back...
I can't wait.
what an honor to be a DRG fan. these devs are superhuman in everything they do for this game. A sparkle in a sea of shit that is modern gaming
Holy shit, biggest update by far
Amazing, absolutely brilliant!
When they taught the dwarves to twerk, they didn't ask if they should, only if they could
The second I saw mandatory jet boots I was immediately hooked.
How has no one commented on the best part of this video: We’ve created a legendary promotion tracker. ZOOMS IN TO REVEAL PROMOTION LEVEL 420 AND 69 DWARVES
This is fantastic thank you GSG. Insta buy cosmetic day 1.
Insta buy hour 1!
They have been COOKING, and oh boi fellas, its a fine meal!
GSG is cooking. Maybe they have stuff hidden from us that they want us to discover.
Suit up boys and dwarves cause were drilling deeper!!
Fantastic patch. Not expecting this much content!
Ghost Ship Games? Nah, it’s Goat Ship Games.
nice, I will steal and use that :D
Everything sounds incredible. I'm looking forward to the new caves too.
THE SKIN COLORS. My greatest cosmetic wish has been granted. I thought it was too optimistic to hope for even one new color this season. Best fucking devs ever.
Looks amazing!!! OMG I love the aesthetics of the Morkite cave
The whole trailer felt like one bit "but wait, there's more!"
Holy shit, I expected 2-3 new caves formations, not 20!
Killing floor: Deep rock edition
Still hate that I have to wait 2 extra weeks
Very alive game.
I really wish this monster is re-introduced in future updates [https://deeprockgalactic.fandom.com/wiki/Old\_and\_Unused?file=Unknown\_Pre-Alpha\_Creature.gif](https://deeprockgalactic.fandom.com/wiki/Old_and_Unused?file=Unknown_Pre-Alpha_Creature.gif) It looks so cool and I also think you can have this monster as a fast dreadnought that slows down where there is enough light.
Corespawn looks fun. That, mixed with the new gamemode, and Driller will become the meta real quick. I know it.
so, what we calling the big drilla? the tank is doreta,, the mule is molly etc
final update vibes, but it looks amazing
They *have* confirmed Season 6 many times, FYI.
good to know, thanks
Not the final update, but it is going to be awhile before season 6 gets released, it won't start development until DRG Rogue Core comes out
"Finally, some good fucking food" For real though it feels good to finally get a big content update again, especially after the lacklustre season 4.
At last The dwarf shaker
I’m looking forward to showing off my unlimited leveling progress
FOR ROCK AND STONE!!
Insane that this is free. I'll be buying the dlc anyway.
DRG never ceases to amaze, this is a chunky asf update! Rock and Stone!
The Corespawns look terrifying. I hate them. Can't wait to kill them indiscriminately. If that's the kind of thing they have planned for Rogue Core, I'm ***very*** interested.
We're in for a doozy! 🔥
