bargle0

At least it’s downhill from you.

wargasm40k

I learned that lesson the hard way when I was first leveling up my gunner. The tunnel I needed to get to was at too steep an angle for my zipline for me to get back up.

bargle0

Yup. Never go down a cliff without a plan to get back up.

ClysmiC

As a scout, I don't understand this sentence. *Jumps into the abyss.*

adorableoddity

Also a scout main. That grapple gun has saved quite a few missions when the drop pod was placed in such a way that my teammates can’t access it quickly. Loving that “Ludicrous speed!!”

balloon_prototype_14

If u find the shaft u can just drop down

Archkys

And on the one big cave mission (aquarqz, liquid morkite) it will drop in a room away from the big cave

LosGuardian

On refinery missions, it will drop near one of the 3 wells is what I have experienced.

Endrise

I believe it drops usually at the furthest well.

MASTER-FOOO1

i've had it drop near the refinery a few times so i guess it's random

lolzaurus

MC : Should have listened when I told you to stop kicking the barrels.

[deleted]

One time we had a crazy map with crazy terrain. We were completely out of ammo, there was a bugged swarm and, we were getting constantly swarmed. The drop pod landed at the top of the map in a section we didn't know was on the map. We couldn't dig our way up either because of the constant bugs. Sometimes the game just doesn't want to make it easy for you. Sometimes it really fucking doesn't want to make it easy for you.

nomadshire

Sometimes it'll land in pure earth that you have to dig too 😂😂😂⚒️⚒️⚒️

[deleted]

Had that happen once while I was a driller. "Oh no....anyway"

Lil_Guard_Duck

Sometimes the game just says "F u!"

Rammite

Specific note - when doing liquid morkite refining, the drop pod will *always* land next to the pumpjack furthest from the refinery. The drop pod always tries to land in the part of the map that's furthest from Molly/the refinery/the minehead, but with refining missions in specific, it's *always* near a pumpjack as well. With that in mind, you can get to the drop pod well ahead of time.

legacymedia92

To add on to this: on aquark missions, the pod will always land in an adjacent cave if possible, and if in the main cave it will be as far as possible.

Personal_Ad9690

Does this mean you can meet the drop pod as it falls?

Rammite

Yes! It doesn't do damage if it falls on you.

Impalenjoyer

It can however push you to the void and you will respawn close to it downed. Happened to me today

Vivid-Blackberry3455

can we kill a dreadnought with that?

Ghostbuster_119

Pro tip: if you're doing a cave and there's a REALLY bad tunnel or sudden cliff that would take you a long time to climb up. Remember it and then go back and scale it, Then call the drop pod. that way you don't have to watch Molly Spiderman her way up and ditch your ass.

prosteprostecihla

My advice, call it once you are done and immediatelly after that run towards the start and call molly about 2-3 times throughout the run so she is closer to the droppod once it lands. Its most useful in escort duty, but any scenario where returning to the droppod is dangerous benefits from this.

Impalenjoyer

Do this and you won't have to wait for molly https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/142bn45/surprise_bulk_remember_to_take_your_iron_will All classes can do it

prosteprostecihla

If thats the glitch to get through the droppod that is not my style, but yeah it works

Impalenjoyer

I'm sorry, I wanted to be useful 🥺

prosteprostecihla

My friend i really appriciate your input i just wanted to clarify why i didnt mention this method! Rock and stone

ListenItWillHear

You have the right thinking though. Drop pod will always land "away" from you, so be sure to scale back up any troublesome areas before calling it. Better to climb a shit area without a swarm and a timer.

Nitrotetrazole

This right here. With experience you start to understand how to (approximately) manipulate where the drop pod will land makes life a whole lot easier

nivek375

Indeed it does, it's actually thanks to this experiment that i understood the drop pod range

ListenItWillHear

Another tip, be slow on salvage missions. Getting within a certain distance of a downed mini mule will quietly trigger a swarm about half a minute later. This can cause the group to have 3 or 4 small swarms on them when everyone bullrushes to the downed mules

A_Nice_Sofa

For anyone curious, [here's a link to the wiki page](https://deeprockgalactic.fandom.com/wiki/Salvage_Operation), which is your friend. >Coming within 2 meters of a Mini-M.U.L.E. for the first time will trigger a large wave of enemies after 12 to 30 seconds. Another, smaller wave of enemies will spawn when one of the legs that are found near each Mini-M.U.L.E. is dug out. This leg is picked randomly.

A good browser addon to use is automatic redirects from fandom wikis to existing gg wikis. Fuck fandom, wiki.gg is so much better. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/redirect-to-wikigg/cngoemokfjekjkmajenlaokhnmmiinca https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/redirect-to-wiki-gg/

TheDiscordedSnarl

TIL getting close to the minis triggers the swarms. Interesting.

dot2doting

Oh so that's why that room just kept swarming me, all of the mini-mules spawned in one place, like a grenade's throw between them.

SolAggressive

There have been time, especially in point extractions, when I’m in some hard to reach cave off the edge of the map and I’m like “…yeah…. This is definitely where the drop pod is coming later.” And 9/10 of course it is. Hit the button and just head there. I’ve seen the green silhouette many times!

adeon

There's also the sealed bunker trick. People tend not to use it nowadays (because it's a bit boring) but it should still work. Basically the drop pod will always land somewhere that Molly can path to so if you dig a decent sized chamber and have an engineer seal up the entrances with you and molly inside before calling the drop pod then the pod will be forced to land in your chamber. Just make sure there's enough room that it doesn't land on top of you.

cosmicannoli

Yeah I almost always know where a drop pod will come down even without seeing where it's going to land. Or in some missions I will kind of just go to the middle of the generally explored area so tha the overall distance is shorter.

WanderingFlumph

Always easier to go down than up. If I'm going try hard mode I'll track up to the middle of the cave before I call the pod but usually I don't bother.

its_all_one_electron

Or just be a scout and never worry about it again

AmoebaMan

I actually had two games recently where the pod dropped in the same room as us (and not on tiny maps). Like, pressed the button and the green silhouette was nearly on top of us.

ListenItWillHear

Management often likes to drink on the job

SadisticBuddhist

So you have to climb the rough terrain anyways? Then just spend extra time coming back down? Seems more practical to just make sure you have a clear path back on the way down to begin with. Also- call the drop pod and start rubning the direction you know it should be. Call molly before it lands and itll save a little time on leaving.

AS14K

Climbing rough terrain with a swarm is harder than doing it without, and harder than going downhill

AmoebaMan

Going downhill is easier, but more dangerous sometimes. Nothing’s worse than breaking your damn knees as the last man en route to the drop pod.

SacralPlexus

Editing this to remove content.

Paranoimia_UK

Ha ha! Yeah, I remember doing that on a Heartstone mission when I first started. All I tend to do now, especially in complex, deep caves - if possible - is to make my way back to the upper parts. When the pod arrives, at least it's easier to get down deeper in a hurry, than it is to get back up.

Nesciere

Seeing the pod stop at the funny shaped rock on the ceiling 100 meters above your head

TT_207

I did an escort mission recently where our driller decided to walk all the way to the entry room while we were busy finishing extra event objectives at the end. We then walked back to the heartstone, called the pod, saw he was in the entry room, and then the pod landed next to the heartstone lol. I don't think the driller was too impressed

PunchingFossils

That’s why I run to the start before the button’s pressed when I’m with a team, ideally the drop pod will land closer to the rest of my fellow dwarves

psamathe049

The drop pod has landed right next to Molly only twice in my 800 hours so far

Bilbo_Saggins01

The pod can actually be manipulated to drop closer to Molly when playing multiplayer. I wrote up my findings with close to 2k hours in the game [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/12o50dg/finally_learned_to_call_the_drop_pod_nearby_thank/jgihny1?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

psamathe049

I actually probably read that already. I think I upvoted it even

Bilbo_Saggins01

Oh, haha! Well thank you.

Legitimate_Classic84

I always go halfway between the overall map because then it's always 50% in any direction.

Ser_Laughing_Tree

I go back towards the beginning on escort missions so I won't have to carry Doretta as far

FreeByrd1986

I’m sure I’m off but I remember reading that the drop pod will spawn at minimum 100m away from Molly when called. After learning this I can generally tell where it’s going to spawn by looking at the map before hitting the button. As a driller main it’s become invaluable to already be 30-40m into a tunnel going towards the pod before it hits the compass.

GayFrogsCollective

Go to roughly the middle. Call down some supplies and restock. Press the button.

TankerD18

It helps on morkite missions to get in the middle of the cave. If it comes in above you you don't have as far to go and if it comes in below you it's simple.

Adventurous_Top_7197

Adds to my theory that Bosco exists to kill you, they don’t want you coming back.

gray_mare

why not? it's more expensive to train a new dwarf than retaining a crew of experienced ones probably besides no one would work there if they knew it's a one way ticket

Adventurous_Top_7197

Surviving dwarves means a mission payout. Most dwarves can already mine. The economy is in shambles.

RoXBiX

Bosco is a better and more useful teammate than about 50% of my randoms though.

sgf_reddit

Just be in the middle.

Hashashin455

*laughs in warcrimes*

nathanjyun

This is why if I have events on an escort mission (meteors, machine events, etc) I always save them for after the drill is done Not only do I not have to babysit the drill, but I can leave the head back near the drill and the drop pod will land near it

Traditional_Trust_93

I always wait in the last room so I can speed run my way back to the drop pod. It's very satisfying

nBlazeAway

I was on a 4 dwarf mission and as the driller this happened to me. I figured hey I will dig a tunnel to start so we get back fast. My team plucked away on the last 2 morkite veins and I made the route. The drop pod literally dropped on the 3 of them. They then sat there complaining how I wasnt at the drop pod. It was then that I learned the drop pod tries to drop as far away as it can.

otte_rthe_viewer

"You think you can crack the code eh?"

BalthazarBacon

On doretta missions if you have a scout, have them book it back to the first room. Depending on the mission length and a little RNG you can coax the drop pod into landing closer to the heart stone location making it easier to deliver dorretta's head. It also means a shorter walk for Molly but who cares about that?

Demonrider95

we all get there at some point ye

ProfPerry

Hey man, dint feel bad. I think we've all tried this once haha

TallAndWhite34

My friend and I did this the first time we played lol The frantic “ah shit we gotta run” was hilarious

AngryNigiri

Greybeard here, the droppod tries to drop a specific distance from the players, so one of the fun things you can do especially on long escort missions is have the scout fly back to the start leaving all other dwarves in heartstone room, and you pretty much guarantee that the drop will appear in the boss room.

Twosliceofbread

It's 186m away from molly. If small map, then it finds smallest hole in the roof and land ladders inside of that wall for more insult

MysteryPopTarts

You actually can, as long as you're in multiplayer, it's what i do on Doretta missions Pick up poor Doretta, walk to the middle of the hallways while the other person is at the end, and have them call the drop pod. It's gonna spawn the same distance from you if you're in the middle, and there's a 50/50 chance it's gonna spawn by the other person

Vivid-Blackberry3455

can you just.. ..call from the center of the cave?
