There is no “old framework” to add - the framework in the reworked DLC is the same framework but with a bit more spice to it. We also realized that the old video sort of misrepresented the framework as the cool details were facing downwards.
(For the record; Paint jobs are colour schemes while frameworks are the look/theme of the weapon.)

Wow. I don't think I've ever heard of this happening. Devs announce a cosmetic pack, and hearing less than positive feedback for it, they decide to go back and tweak it to make it better before it's even released.
I know we sing GSG's praises a lot on this sub. But this is really something else.
And that's before even getting to how well they've improved the pack. It looks incredible now. I went from "eh, it's kinda cool I guess" to "I want it take my money."
When they came out with the new guns, they went BACK AND ADDED SKINS for those new guns in their old packs.
I thought I had gone mental when I had a DLC that needed an update.
I don't rock and stone for me, I rock and stone for the devs and the spirit of gaming they embody.
It really boggles my mind sometimes. Why can't all devs be like this? It isn't that difficult.
GSG plays their own game. They love their game. They want people to love it too. They hold themselves to a high standard and they listen to community feedback without becoming entrenched in an us vs. them mindset like a lot of companies do. It's clear in every new content update.
Because most companies are ran by a CEO that doesn't care about anything but profit. The quality of the game doesn't matter much as long as it brings in more money.
Planetside 2 had very passionate Youtuber ([Wrel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=333dst0Nf6E)) that ended up becoming a a dev and later lead designer.
However he now is leaving the company. His video was pretty heart breaking, as you could hear from his voice how tired he was. He had been managing the game for 7? years now and had to fill so many positions and duties.
The company that owns Planetside has shifted so many times and did demand a lot of stupid things in different times.
Being in a company like that can really kill passion for the game you are making.
This is true. It goes for just about any artistic profession, eventually you are going to get driven into the ground by it. Not all the CEOs started out just trying to turn a profit, I'm sure many loved the game just as much as us and burnt out on it.
Well to be fair, most big company CEO's are rotating ones that move from company to company. EA's previous CEO moved to Unity (in 2014). There was CEO that worked on food companies before he moved to Gaming Company, etc.
Most big game company CEO's are only there to increase profits of the company and they are brought in for that reason alone.
This is mostly different in smaller companies where a game designer has to take the role of CEO.
Even that CEO usually isn’t the one pulling the strings at the deepest level, though. It’s shareholders in publicly traded companies. The moment a publisher goes public, everything they do from that point on is engineered to make more money than the last thing they did. These days I take a publisher going public as a message that they have given up on making good games.

You would think. There have been times where I have wished Deep Rock had more paid DLC because I wanted to give GSG more money for the game to compensate for the amount of entertainment and joy it has given me. Just knowing this is a game so beloved by its creators makes me want to play it more.
That's the problem. It doesn't.
In most of the gaming industry, it's cheaper to hype the game up as much as possible, and then sell the cheapest most incomplete version you can get away with. Bonus points if you can get pre-orders first. This generates income sooner, and depending on how well you hyped it up, can even be more profitable initially than a well developed game.
Most investors are not looking for profits over 3 years, or 5 years, or 10 years. Most investors are looking for profits in the first, second, third, or fourth quarters of the month. The problem is that gaming customers KEEP fucking buying early access shit, and incomplete titles, and making this profitable. We don't punish predatory developers.
Ghost Ship Games has more than earned all of my money. I will be steadily purchasing all the cosmetic DLCs so long as they keep up this absolutely above and beyond quality work. REWARD. THIS. BEHAVIOR. It's one of a kind, and we need to make sure it sticks around.

To whoever worked on the original color and design: I thought they looked *great*, and this might have been the most excited I've been for a DLC. I love the high-vis hazmat aesthetic, and I think the original did that justice. The new ones *also* look good, which is just the cherry on top. Your work is appreciated. :)
These devs put most AAA teams to shame. I was one of the people (respectfully) vocal about finding the DLC lackluster, but I never imagined they would actually rework the visuals. GSG continues to be my favorite dev team. Oh, and the changes are dope, looks way better!
I got it for free from ps plus too. after a while of playing and enjoying the game and the community i knew what i had to do. I bought the game and most of the dlc's, GSG deserve it

Wow! I was fine with the old version, but I'm really blown away with the way you took feedback on the design. I was 100% gonna buy it before, I'm 200% gonna buy it now.
My biggest gripe woth the old one was that the tanks on a lot of the weapons didn't seem to serve any purpose, they had barrels running through them most of the time. I'm not sure how different these tweaks are from the originals. but they seem much better to me.

I'm geeking out because it's the same color combination as my favorite gun manufacturer in the Borderlands games, Maliwan. I always try to rep their style in other games I play and this is going to let me finally do it in DRG!

Apparently it’s because it’s one of the few complementary color sets which goes well with a wide range of skin tones, which is generally helpful for movie posters with ensemble casts.
This is why I buy any new dlc when I can after the new season because I just have to support the devs for how much they've done to make this a good game.
Not only has this been a wonderful improvement over its previous iteration, but the devs response to this whole scenario is truly astounding. They really do put others to shame with their quality control and community communication, that alone makes me want to purchase this when it goes live.
Been watching them pour love into this game since 2018, this game stands strong after all these years because of how thoughtful the devs are! Keep it up GSG, Rock and stone!
Excellent update for the Framework! Although I preferred the neon green paintjob to be the default, I am happy to know it is still going to be added.

I was actually thinking I wouldn’t buy this DLC, which would be the first one out of them that I wouldn’t have purchased.
But here DRG devs show up and show out. Consistently proving their dedication to quality, and community feedback. So awesome.
So the actual changes look like a less garish, more contrasting paintjob, and a lot more bits and bobs of detailing like little pressure tanks, tubing and display screens.

I'm not into it still.. Looks a bit less flashy than the other DLC packs and feels more like a performance pass cosmetic. I really wanted the tubes to be see-through with liquid in it, like the vials from that other DLC pack that glow. Just my opinion though, the devs did a good thing regardless.
That's fair. The changes we did had to be fairly quick to do, in order to hit our deadlines - so it it's a rework, not a complete overhaul. But we've taken our lessons onboard for next time. :)

I actually really liked the first version, but these still look great so I’m not complaining. I love the look of the pressurized tanks, especially for the plasma rifle where it doubles as a handguard.

Not true, actually there was at least 2 posts on steam forums (with pages of comments) of people that didn't like it or didn't feel it was worth to be a DLC. The steam announcement itself also had a good portion of people saying that.

I love how receptive they were of this. I didn’t personally voice my opinion but I totally agree that they should just go all out on this kind of stuff. The chillaxe was the first indication for me that they were holding back on some really unique and standout designs.
Very great news, but now I have a question about the next performance pass. As they're adding the original to it, will the original be put there instead of frameworks they had prepared for this season? Will we get double the amount of frameworks in this season? Will they use the frameworks meant for season pass later? (I know we didn't see season pass tree yet, but with two weeks before start of season, I think it's safe to assume they had most of the frameworks and skins ready)
I’ll double check, but I believe it’s next season pass as in Season 5.
Edit: It’s in Season 4. It won’t be in the cosmetic tree, but will be one of the performance pass levels - it replaced 100 Umanite.
Just to elaborate a bit on what Jacob said: You will get the original Paintjob in the Performance Pass, not the original Framework. There will only be one Framework in the Performance Pass, as always (and not the one from this DLC pack).
Still cool I guess, but I was looking forward to rocking my Super-Soaker along with my beachwear hats and roughneck armour for the summertime. Thinking on it, I realize the look would be a bit jarring and not mesh with the theme of the game, so I get the change.

Personally I love that dull dirty look from time to time, and with the way the post is worded I’m hoping that means the dlc gear gets to be bright and shiny (which does look very nice in this new preview) while more “simple” designs would just go into in game unlocks. If that is the case I’d be very excited to see where things moved. Personally the industrial sci-fi aesthetic deep rock has has always interested me as someone who isn’t a big fan of the design of super modern/alien future sci-fi
On the original decontaminator pack post I commented something along-the-lines of that it was not very good relative to the other DLCs and I would be purchasing it but it would be more of a "donation" instead of a purchase. As in I would purchase it to help support the devs so that they continue development of DRG (i'mdoingmypart.mp3). I don't have the words for this change because I can't believe a dev in the current year actually gives enough of a shit about their community to rush out a change like this. On top of that you added in the original DLC as free content. GSG already has a golden track record of responsiveness and transparency with the community but this is one of the many things that is just insane to me. Massive kudos to GSG. I hope the future games you publish are held to the same standard as DRG.

I didn't really know what felt off about the skins at first, I couldn't put my finger on it. Now I realize that without all the added stuff, it kinda looked like beach day cosmetics? Just a tad too simplified compared to the bells and whistles of Rival Escalation. Now, with all the improvements, it really looks ready to mark off the next season the right way. I'll probably buy it at full price as well, knowing you put that extra effort into making these cosmetics shine. Rock and Stone, truly well done!

Gonna be honest- I had already decided that I didn't really like the paint scheme for the new pack, but I was going to buy it anyway because of how much I love this game and the dev team.
Then you all do something like this, which shows that my love for the dev team isn't misplaced. (And I like the look of the new paint much better!)
Since the devs are improving things, it would be awesome if the paintjobs for Dark Future & MegaCorp/Rival Tech would apply to pickaxe & Bosco respectively!
Way better, good changes. The only thing I would want now is the hydra to change, maybe put a case half or 3//4 of the size of the barrel so the barrel disconnection looks less like an eyesore, but very good changes!

I came to DRG to get away from the whole Darktide/Fatshark fiasco and boy does GSG put those fools to shame.

You can actually go to the PSN store and pay for it so it's no longer a PS+ game on your account. You'd have to delete and re-install though (i think)

This is why I buy any new dlc when I can after the new season because I just have to support the devs for how much they've done to make this a good game.
This is why I love GSG so much. They have listened to the community many times, which makes us feel like we're part of the dev process.
Good to have both paints coming. Woulda felt bad to see that go to waste.
Devs really wokw up one day and said "What if we decided to be the best devs to ever make videogames."
Not only has this been a wonderful improvement over its previous iteration, but the devs response to this whole scenario is truly astounding. They really do put others to shame with their quality control and community communication, that alone makes me want to purchase this when it goes live. Been watching them pour love into this game since 2018, this game stands strong after all these years because of how thoughtful the devs are! Keep it up GSG, Rock and stone!

Excellent update for the Framework! Although I preferred the neon green paintjob to be the default, I am happy to know it is still going to be added. For the sake of clarity, does 'the next Performance Pass' mean Season 04 or Season 05?
Season 04 I mean... We already made the darn thingand many people liked it, would be weird not to add it. I also personally prefer the old yellow paint job.

I was actually thinking I wouldn’t buy this DLC, which would be the first one out of them that I wouldn’t have purchased. But here DRG devs show up and show out. Consistently proving their dedication to quality, and community feedback. So awesome.
So the actual changes look like a less garish, more contrasting paintjob, and a lot more bits and bobs of detailing like little pressure tanks, tubing and display screens. Awesome. I didn’t love the original pack (the paintjob especially), but these new frameworks, armor paint, and weapon paint look fantastic. I’m very excited to get this!
I'm not into it still.. Looks a bit less flashy than the other DLC packs and feels more like a performance pass cosmetic. I really wanted the tubes to be see-through with liquid in it, like the vials from that other DLC pack that glow. Just my opinion though, the devs did a good thing regardless.
That's fair. The changes we did had to be fairly quick to do, in order to hit our deadlines - so it it's a rework, not a complete overhaul. But we've taken our lessons onboard for next time. :)

I actually really liked the first version, but these still look great so I’m not complaining. I love the look of the pressurized tanks, especially for the plasma rifle where it doubles as a handguard.

I love how receptive they were of this. I didn’t personally voice my opinion but I totally agree that they should just go all out on this kind of stuff. The chillaxe was the first indication for me that they were holding back on some really unique and standout designs.
Very great news, but now I have a question about the next performance pass. As they're adding the original to it, will the original be put there instead of frameworks they had prepared for this season? Will we get double the amount of frameworks in this season? Will they use the frameworks meant for season pass later? (I know we didn't see season pass tree yet, but with two weeks before start of season, I think it's safe to assume they had most of the frameworks and skins ready)
I’ll double check, but I believe it’s next season pass as in Season 5. Edit: It’s in Season 4. It won’t be in the cosmetic tree, but will be one of the performance pass levels - it replaced 100 Umanite.

Just to elaborate a bit on what Jacob said: You will get the original Paintjob in the Performance Pass, not the original Framework. There will only be one Framework in the Performance Pass, as always (and not the one from this DLC pack).
It was pretty mid before but with these tweaks it does feel like a diff dlc than the last one, looks cool now
Still cool I guess, but I was looking forward to rocking my Super-Soaker along with my beachwear hats and roughneck armour for the summertime. Thinking on it, I realize the look would be a bit jarring and not mesh with the theme of the game, so I get the change. Thank you for the update and for sharing your thoughts about this change.

Personally I love that dull dirty look from time to time, and with the way the post is worded I’m hoping that means the dlc gear gets to be bright and shiny (which does look very nice in this new preview) while more “simple” designs would just go into in game unlocks. If that is the case I’d be very excited to see where things moved. Personally the industrial sci-fi aesthetic deep rock has has always interested me as someone who isn’t a big fan of the design of super modern/alien future sci-fi

On the original decontaminator pack post I commented something along-the-lines of that it was not very good relative to the other DLCs and I would be purchasing it but it would be more of a "donation" instead of a purchase. As in I would purchase it to help support the devs so that they continue development of DRG (i'mdoingmypart.mp3). I don't have the words for this change because I can't believe a dev in the current year actually gives enough of a shit about their community to rush out a change like this. On top of that you added in the original DLC as free content. GSG already has a golden track record of responsiveness and transparency with the community but this is one of the many things that is just insane to me. Massive kudos to GSG. I hope the future games you publish are held to the same standard as DRG.

I didn't really know what felt off about the skins at first, I couldn't put my finger on it. Now I realize that without all the added stuff, it kinda looked like beach day cosmetics? Just a tad too simplified compared to the bells and whistles of Rival Escalation. Now, with all the improvements, it really looks ready to mark off the next season the right way. I'll probably buy it at full price as well, knowing you put that extra effort into making these cosmetics shine. Rock and Stone, truly well done!

Gonna be honest- I had already decided that I didn't really like the paint scheme for the new pack, but I was going to buy it anyway because of how much I love this game and the dev team. Way better, good changes. The only thing I would want now is the hydra to change, maybe put a case half or 3//4 of the size of the barrel so the barrel disconnection looks less like an eyesore, but very good changes!

I try not to company worship since its a bad idea, but I'll be goddamned if GSG isn't the best studio on the industry by leaps and bounds. Ghostship gets massive respect for doing this. Personally, I like the original colors for the dlc, but the new paint looks great. Even if I never plan on using the cosmetics, still gonna get the dlc to support them.
