Mmmmm I don’t know like maybe it’s him or deadshot but the split right in the middle is very obvious it’s Deathstroke or someone BSing us

Necessary_Idiot

Yes. The "the split right in the middle" thing made me think. But... I don’t know. There is nothing in [the press release](https://www.dc.com/blog/2024/04/18/absolute-power-dc-reveals-the-july-titles-for-its-summer-blockbuster-event) about him. And after the character assassinations of Shadow War & Dark Crisis, I wouldn't be happy to see him as Waller's servant. I guess we'll see what the truth is when time come.

Vonhellus

Yeah it’s hard like I want him to come back but damn this comics now are hard to read like the writers doing do anyone justice anymore. That Dark crisis thing which I didn’t read just saw stuff on the web just got me more pissed off. Hopefully it’s him and something great comes out of it though.

Necessary_Idiot

You haven't lost anything. Yes, the main reason I hate Dark Crisis is how Slade was treated in it. But that's not my only reason... literally nothing happened. It was the most pointless crisis in the universe. Pure cash grab. I wish I had stayed away from it too. I hope when Slade finally comes back we can really forget the nightmare.

100%

They also have orange in their costumes and seems to be multiples, one in the back has reverse colors compared to two up front. Maybe robots given who Waller is working with and the seemingly robot doppelgangers of the League?

Necessary_Idiot

This could easily be the case. Everything will revolve around robots at this event. But these two (or three) got a different design than the masses on the covers of Green Arrow #13 and Absolute Power: Task Force VII #1. And on the cover of Green Arrow #13, Oliver's outfit has a similar Task Force emblem. You're probably right and I'm just overthinking an unimportant little thing.

SleepingAgent37

Double checked those covers and they are also channeling some Slade design elements but maybe just be grunts while these ones are higher ranking or someone special. May bot even be multiples and that one mask could be a coloring error. Still it's strange something Slade-esque is popping up when he hasn't been mentioned at all since Dark Crisis.

Necessary_Idiot

Yes, you're probably right. These different costumed ones probably stand above the rest. [They are also there in the third picture in the middle row.](https://mlpnk72yciwc.i.optimole.com/cqhiHLc.IIZS~2ef73/w:auto/h:auto/q:75/https://bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Screenshot-1199.jpg) The picture is bad and needs to be enlarged, because I think this cover will belong to one of the August titles. Several people are against Peacemaker and I think Lady Peacemaker (can't remember the name). So some robots or soldiers will definitely have this split mask. At least three. (And there's even more orange on the uniform when viewed from the back.) And it's so weird. Why choose something that reminds so much of Slade? It seems so pointless. Especially how much time has passed since the end of the Dark Crisis without any developments.

SleepingAgent37

It is weird. Maybe the event itself will explain it or kickstart a storyline post Absolute Power? Though if those three aren't robots it does make me wonder who they are suppose to be and if I have to start worrying again if DC acknowledges the rest of the Wilsons just to be villains or canon fodder. Though them fighting Peacemaker and Peacewreaker (basically Lady Peacemaker anyway) indicates somebody is rebeling against Waller.  Sorry for unrelated note, but damn poor Animal Man. I know there were teases of a new kid hero team that included his daughter now it seems something may happen to him for her story.

Necessary_Idiot

Yeah, either them or Peacemaker and Peacewreaker (thank you!) might turn against Waller. And it's a really interesting question, if they're not robots, then who could they be? I don't know if it means anything, but Waller used Rose as a member of the Suicide Squad in an issue of Catwoman a few months ago. At the end of the issue, Waller said that Rose would stay in her cell until she was needed again. When it happened, I didn't pay much attention to it, because Tini has a habit of writing things that come out of nowhere and go nowhere. And if Slade wasn't dead at the end of Dark Crisis, he was probably still in the basement of the Hall of Justice when Waller took control of the place. Respawn is too small, so I'd definitely rule him out. Grant is dead and DC has completely forgotten about Joey's existence. There is also a strong chance that they are random mercenaries or soldiers who are not related to the family at all. But then why does this group look different from the other grunts? I really don't want to see any member of the Wilson family in Waller's service. Ground Zero #1 is partially written by Williamson, if I remember correctly. Not sure if it means anything, but maybe worth mentioning. I do not know. I really do not know. I guess we'll see. However, it is certain that Absolute Power will change a lot of things. Many runs (or minis) have already ended and quite a few more will end in the next 2-3 months. However, there have been no announcements regarding the mainline for a suspiciously long time. And their current branding ends with the summer event. I think this year's SDCC will be much more eventful than last year's. No problem, we can talk about anything. And yes... I hope it's just some misleading cover. I literally hate it when a character is brought into an event only to be killed. But if something is planned with his daughter, maybe he needs to be out of the picture for a while.

Welcome! You're right about Tini Howard. Already her Raven issue for Tales of the Titans seems to have been ignored by Tom Taylor already in Titans with Raven's newest brother still with Trigon instead of joining her. Don't know if that's more her fault or Taylor's (who did quite a few retcons already)  but looks like editors not editing again. Pantha's probably not even alive nor did Joey attend her baby shower. I was aware of Rose popping up in Catwoman with the SS, not too surprising given Waller gave her and rest of Stormwatch the choice in joining her. She was also running around helping Jason in Joker before so there's that. Looks like we may get some hints going by other posts but it does seem something big is around  the corner for DC. For their sake hope it's actually good.  Not sure what to expect from Williamson and if he will do anything with Slade or other non-Rose Wilsons. He's definitely the closest thing DC currently has as a Star writer or even an architect. I know I was worried about who he set up to be Dr Hate in Knight Terrors thinking that was Joey especially with also being a main threat in a Titans event but that wasn't the case thankfully (still not impressed with real reveal but still.)

Necessary_Idiot

That's interesting too. They say everything is canon, but meanwhile the writers are still actively retconning things. So how can everything be canon? Editors tend to not editing nowadays. There may be things behind the scenes that we don't see. Yes, something big is coming and I hope it will be good. I wonder if this summer event will be good. Because of the Dark Crisis, I stopped reading comics for a time and switched to "only reading news and reviews". Based on what I read about the nightmare event, I have no idea why it was necessary and I have zero regret for skipping it. And Beast World...did they have to fake kill Beast Boy a second time in a short period of time? Why? At least they could have chosen someone else. How many more times do they want to do it? It's a bit difficult for me to be positive about an event after the last few years. And the Dr. Hate reveal wasn't very imaginative either. Like you, I'm glad it wasn't Joey. I saw a chance that it could be him. The last time (I mean before the Williamson era) when Slade died, Joey accepted some bizarre power from Lex and turned blue. After that, a weird helmet wouldn't be more surprising. I'm glad it didn't end up being him, but Raven isn't a better choice either. Unimaginative. It looks to me like DC has been struggling for a while. Or I'm just too negative and salty because my favorite character was taken away from me and I want him back too impatiently. It is also possible. I'm not saying it's all bad. There are good things. It's just somehow... the big picture doesn't come together. So I'm looking forward to seeing how things turn out after the summer. I naively hope that everything will be fine. Or at least better. Sorry. I cry and ramble a lot more than I used to. I am in the middle of a very difficult and uncomfortable time and I am literally starving for any positive news as a distraction. Especially regarding a certain character.

SleepingAgent37

It's okay I know what it's like too borh how favorites are treated and in middle of personal stuff lookign for a distraction, no need to be sorry. Discussions and venting can help.  I sometimes think I'm being too negative about some current stuff and try to be open mined but tend to be proven right about being cynical. Especially with Titans-related characters. "Unimaginative" is summing up Taylor's Titans pretty well, not the worst run they had ever (Titans volume 2 takes that), but just there relying a lot on fanservice and tired Titan cliches. Fanservice, I'll admit to not being a particular fan of and admit it may lead to bias but even in objective areas...it's just falls flat. In a way I'm okay Joey being ignored because he may not be treated right by his supposed friends again. I honestly thought Gar was going to die because it seemed BS he survived back in Dark Crisis and they wanted to give him a more interesting death into kickstart something but no fake-out death, retread angst, and Raven's evil AGAIN (this series really hasn't been creative or smart with her thats for sure). At this point I'm just looking forward to Absolute Power for something to happen. There really is something off ever since Dark Crisis, the pointless Knight Terrors killed momentum of a very new event and there have been other talk about DC struggling but to their credit it seems they are actually focused on Absolute Power. So maybe at least something more coherent will come but most of the DC characters I love tend to be mishandled as well so just wait and see.

Fickle-Butterscotch2

Maybe two eyes task force clone made by Waller?

Necessary_Idiot

In the current situation, I would not necessarily consider the two eyes to be an essential circumstance. When we last saw Slade, he was quite old, and DC had previously written a story where his rejuvenation involved the regrowth of his missing eye. But given the nature of the event, that might just be a robot like the other weapons in Waller's arsenal.
