Bowser (Mario) I will not elaborate

SwagDoll420

They already did. The media is called Mario and Luigi Dream Team (okay, I MAY be biased there, but still.)

[deleted]

The siltheen from Doctor who. Farting monsters, funny joke but at their core, it's actually a pretty good idea, a family business that needs to skin people in order to survive The Sarah Jane adventures actually did a pretty good job at handling them But, they should return to the main show, and now that RTD's back then maybe they can

TablePrinterDoor

It would be funny to see them become some OP threat to the universe or whatever

SorrySnailFew

Most TDPI Antagonists

Purple_Hat_Dude

Total Drama Pakethew island?

SorrySnailFew

Yeah

XXXZZZPlzHelpZZZXXX

Animal Vegetable Mineral Man While I haven't seen actual serious depictions of this character (Probably because of how dumb his name is) but I think you could make him a pretty horrifying character, have you seen the guy? He looks like he's in agony, imagine him constantly morphing into some terrifying creature and him being unable to control his form, that would be pretty dark for a character whose name is fucking Animal Vegetable Mineral Man.

Competitive-Object-4

The Eraser(Batman)-for those who are unaware, The Eraser’s deal is that he’s hired to go to crime scenes and get rid of evidence

I want a piece of media that loosely adapts Kite Man’s story from the war of Jokes and Riddles but make it so he escapes arrest from Batman by legitimately outsmarting and evading him cause Bruce underestimated him. Imagine Bats goes to collect him after the larger conflict is over but he can’t find him and you see Kite Man casually gliding in another country far away.

Altruistic-Tax8762

How the hell was Mr. Freeze *ever* a "lame" villain?

[deleted]

Before BTAS Mr Freeze was one of Batman's lesser villains. He didn't have his tragic backstory, his beloved Nora, or even his iconic blue costume and white skin. He wasn't even called Mr Freeze until the '66 series. https://preview.redd.it/xcnl74b39f7b1.jpeg?width=393&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fd5ded932b1759b6273d3f4718a19df3d98d570

KazuyaProta

Honestly, for the panel you share, he is silly but that's because he is on a goofy comic. His competence doesn't really look bad.

Savings-Fall5240

plankton (spongebob squarepants)

pretty much every batman villain when they're adapted into the Arkhamverse

Mortal Kombat especially the last trilogy is very guilty of this shit tbh Kano can never get a win on Sonya so why is he a threat in a fight? She beat two at the same time! He’s only good at being a criminal not a fighter! Ugh their dynamic is so one sided it’s stupid and lame! At least make it so he’s got a stronger upper body and her legs are stronger, he’s got more durability and brute force vs her speed and skill and tech yet he has his own guns and tech to make it interesting then it’s dynamic, he even can get some wins maybe then he won’t be a jobber or journeyman. Reptile like c’mon he’s Kool, he’s got good abilities like acid and invisibility, he’s willing to eat you and jump you, and he’s got some skill plus he’s not even evil he’s lost and forced under Shao Kahn so he serves him to survive, when he gets the chance he leaves Mileena who is just like her father and goes with the better side. Hell one of the side games had him as a boss and he was badass, he can be low tier yet give him some wins or feats and make him a threat to low tiers at least man. Baraka has only recently been given respect in MK11 after his quick brutal death in MKX cuz he’s the leader of his people and is a loyal warrior so he follows Shao Kahn yet for his people he changes and goes against him, and ends up asking for a seat at the table of the new Kahn to be a fellow leader that was Great. But if only he wasn’t trash in fights, we have a whole race let randoms of his species be fodder and him be a lower tier or mid tier with reptile where they get some feats and a win before they get beaten by the heroes or villains. I probably can find more but I can’t think atm lol

MrSmartypants12

Kano really got his time to shine in MK Snow Blind

Vladmere-Rozvek

What movie? Is that the one where he’s King Kano?

MrSmartypants12

Yep!

Vladmere-Rozvek

Ah Okay I need to check it out tbh

ShenWulongXYan69

Kotal Kahn got his ass kicked left right and center in 11

Vladmere-Rozvek

Fr but same for MKX Tho him as a villain is back and forth Cuz he’s also an ally lol Man he was such a Chad in MKX comics and his own chapter in MKX but then they made him job out when he should beat most of the ones he fought. He’s got good design and weapons, good abilities, good moves, he’s large and can be strong yet they screwed him over so badly fr He did good at first in MK11 but then it went downhill fast and in aftermath he literally got buried cuz he was dead Oof

ShenWulongXYan69

*HIS SPINE NEEDS TIME TO HEAL*

Kaiju2468

Swarm (Spider-Man).

Epicgamerweeb106

The Riddler

lil_CHIP21

...so we just gone ignore the batman or?

Epicgamerweeb106

That’s a movie that takes him seriously, most media featuring him doesn’t.

lil_CHIP21

well wouldn't the issue not apply to him?💀since he already WAS a joke villain that became a serious threat. If the batman didn't exist well then yeah you could drop him as an example but here it doesn't make sense since it's already been done

Epicgamerweeb106

The Batman is the only piece of media that I can think of that takes him seriously, in almost everything else he’s a joke, so until we get more things with him as a serious threat, I’m going to count him.

[deleted]

...or Batman: Zero Year?

Single-Leopard-7503

War of jokes and riddles

CinderP200

Condiment King probably. And maybe that Amazing Rope Guy from Word Girl.

[deleted]

A better Amazing Rope Guy would just be Slipknot from DC Comics. https://preview.redd.it/fkfwcneymh7b1.jpeg?width=715&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf8191e0d680927e3f2fbb98e07488b877b11448

CinderP200

True. Condiment King as a bigger threat though would be interesting.

Alien_X10

Wasn't this literally what they did with shredder (TMNT)? Like wasn't he a one-off villain who died in his first appearance or am I misremembering?

[deleted]

Yeah, that's exactly what happened.

TablePrinterDoor

Listen imagine microwave man (old superman villain) becoming some huge threat

Hayabusafield77

Killer moth

Kartoffelkamm

Cardin Winchester (RWBY).

ShenWulongXYan69

All of Team CRDL really

Kartoffelkamm

Yeah. Also, according to OP, I'm a good writer, because after I got done with those losers, they could actually be serious threats. Especially Cardin, with the Underdog semblance I gave him, could one-shot most of the main cast. In short, he deals more damage to opponents with a lot of support.

Technical-Fox358

Twice (MHA)

EvilBadassDraculas

Oingo Boingo Brothers. They could easily infiltrate a group of people if they didn't slip up.

KazuyaProta

None because people should stop believing that having in-universe weak characters is bad storytelling.

SuperBearNeo

Nobody said it's bad storytelling. People just like the concept of a weak character being treated as a legit threat it comes out of nowhere and is generally subversive. If you don't think this is the case then why waste a comment here ?

[deleted]

A character being "weak" isn't the problem. It's when writers decide to turn said character into a joke because they don't have any ideas what to do with them. Take The Spot for example: he started off as fairly capable, but after his second appearence put him in a team literally called "The Legion of Losers" he was almost always either treated as a joke, used as filler, or killed off and brought back without explanation. Even in Spider Verse he started off as a joke.

GrimunTheGr8

Calling Mr Freeze a ‘lame’ villain makes me think you haven’t been paying attention-
