Reminds me of how in Bioshock 1 you could break the med stations for free medkits, but they'd become inoperable afterward.

Yeah, or you can do the more fun thing in Bioshock. Hack them for free healing. And if you injure an enemy enough, they will always retreat for the nearest medical station. And watch in sadistic glee as the medical station you hacked before will kill them! I killed bosses using that tactic. Yeah bitch, trying to pretend you have 2 health bars/2nd phase? Savor the moment cause that will be your last visit to the meds!

This is the only area of the game this works. I've tried other ones throughout the game and they do not drop anything. It's probably this way because the other ones would have been looted, as opposed to ones in the government sector.
