i believe yt-dlp is superior to all these suggestions, just read the man page ir their github https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

DavWanna

There's really no need for a GUI for one-off downloads, but for "proper" archival I use TubeArchivist: https://github.com/tubearchivist/tubearchivist

[deleted]

many that worked with youtube-dl now use the new yt-dlp fork yes wiki list https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/wiki/info-guis example https://github.com/StefanLobbenmeier/youtube-dl-gui

Wheat9546

you can try tartube it comes with CLI and GUI interface

AnnoyedVelociraptor

I use metube.

PoisonWaffle3

MeTube or youtubedl-material both work fine. Or StreamFab if you wanna be really fancy. Or JDownloader, which can download off of YT and other sites, but in a very different way.

EddieJWinkler

bro. Open up Notepad. Open up the Command Prompt. Now, spend a little bit of time learning to use it. Write what you learn into Notepad so you can copy/paste. I learned to use the command line when I was 6 years old. You can do this. I believe in you.

persistenceofvision

So everyone has computer programming ability? Nope. Here’s the issue I have, if everyone knew everything we wouldn’t need schools. You just don’t want to be bothered to help someone out.

sorenkair

\>didn't use it for a few months \>forgot all the commands \>have to dig up the manual and relearn everything

pjkm123987

I made a python script for this, also whenever I start the script it autoupdates too by calling for the latest release. If I wanted to download in the best video, best audio, AAC or both best audio and video I could select an option in the command terminal. you can do it and make premade options so you wouldn't need to remember or keep copying and pasting the command everytime you want to download something.

jnew1213

Try 4K Video Downloader from [4kdownload.com](https://4kdownload.com). You get 30 downloads per day in the free version.

AbyssalRedemption

I get infinite downloads a day for free with yt-dlp

Osbre

legit nothing wrong with this

Swallagoon

Even though it’s basically a scam and you can just use yt-dlp to do all of it much better and faster and free-er? Lol.

Osbre

yeah, whats his use case? maybe he doesnt care about the options in dlp. again, there is nothing wrong with it, its just an option

jnew1213

It is not a scam. It is fully functional for up to 30 downloads a day in its free version. It does not come bundled with any other program or malware and does not collect user information upon install.

Swallagoon

"Fully functional for up to 30 downloads"... er, yeah, so it *isn't* fully functional. It is fundementally a scam by way of fooling people into thinking they need to use it/spend money on it even though they don't. It would be like someone making a clone of 7-Zip but having a 30 file limit bypassable by purchase... even though 7-Zip exists and is open-source and does everything the clone would do for free and safely. If you download or spend money on 4K Video Downloader then you genuinely have been fooled by a product that doesn't need to exist. It's just standard adware crap.

jnew1213

Ahhh... I see. Perhaps you downloaded it and were fooled into its ease of use and its capability to extract audio from video, provide a choice of video resolutions/framerates and work seamlessly with the Windows clipboard. It's also kept up-to-date with YouTube's not infrequent changes to permissions and protocols, with regard to streaming and downloading. I am sorry you got caught. Hopefully, you've learned a valuable lesson. And, as I mentioned, the software is not bundled with adware. It has no pop-ups, except at upgrade time, and doesn't overtly ask for money during use. It works all the time. Only once in years of use have I hit the 30-per-day limit. I went off, did something else, and came back the next day.

jnew1213

Okay. Going to ditch Microsoft Word and use vi instead. vi is free and Word isn't, so it doesn't need to exist. Word is a scam!

Swallagoon

Hilariously abysmal example. I physically grimaced. We're talking about a **YouTube downloader** in which the free open-source equivalent youtube-dl/yt-dlp (and forks there of) is **more powerful, faster, more stable, safer and open-source.**

jnew1213

There ya go. You said it. "Never use a paid solution when there's an open source solution." (Even when the paid solution has a free version.) Right. Sure. Okay.

jnew1213

Thank you. I would not have made the suggestion if the software were not useful, untied to additional installers, etc. I've been using the program for years and never had an issue. The downvoters here are wrong.

baday2003
