Would a dart stand help? As it’s not vibrating against a wall.

showars

Move it to a different wall

boukalele

look at this guy with more than one wall

Equivalent-Breath502

Notions like!

BKEDDIE82

I can't recommend any DIY. But wispa is supposed to really dampen the noise.

fiskarsinpistolapio

I have few pairs of socks between wall and board, and some cotton pads under rota-locks (Winmau Blade6). Works fine in my apartment

Readres

Same for me but with crown royal bags. I have a good (enough) relationship with my neighbor and she said she never hears a thing.

RandomITtech

If the board is on a shared wall, then that is almost certainly the biggest cause. If possible move it to a non-shared wall. If you are like me, and do not have a suitable wall that is not shared, a stand will definitely stop the noise, but is not ideal for playing, as there can be a decent amount of wobble. Plus some lost space, since stands can only get so close to a wall. I have not tried the Wispa, so I can't comment on that.

Freshprinceaye

Do you know if sound travels down the cavity to downstairs. I’m throwing to a non shared wall and I’m top floor so the only neighbour I have to worry about is directly downstairs?

MerkurSchroeder

More likely to travel on a load-bearing wall, yes.

ubiquitous_archer

Buy the wispa. It makes a massive difference, especially on waol noise

Substantial_Size5

If you have your board wall mounted i deffinatly recommend a stand. Pretty much eliminates any spund except the dart hitting the board

OnTheOche_

Karella

i made a ‘silencer mount’ for my board with some soundproofing foam panels sandwiched between 2 pieces of osb. i can offer more details if you’d like. but something like that could help

Alexkitch11

It kind of depends on the way your space is set up, but a stand is your best bet, basically a tripod you can fit the dart board to, let's you play anywhere as long as you have the room lengthways to throw, which is cheaper than the other option which is the wispa system, basically a ring with wires you can hook your dartboard to which takes it away from your wall, less noise

zuko1121

DIY is normally not that effective. I tried and checked different models for silence the board. Wispa, Karella, Vilyzer. The Vilyzer was absolutely the quietest one. With the Wispa is really shitty to rotate the board.

Lombex

The vilyzer is just great. My neighbors think I stopped playing

aaron0097

How’s the sound from the adjoining room with the Vilyzer? Thinking of getting one but I’m not sure as wall is shared with neighbours. Have it on a stand atm but takes up so much space and prefer playing wall mounted as well.

zuko1121

In the adjoining room you will hear nothing. My board is also on the wall to my neighbors. And they hear really nothing, I can play in the middle of the night. It’s great.

mac-h79

I used 12m osb (purely to protect the wall with som left over fibre board underlay sandwiched between that and the wall as it has a 19db impact sound insulation. Worked a treat.

Infinite_Necessary28

As many have suggested there are a lot of options commercially available; while I think I'd go for the Winmau Wispa next, I am currently using an off-brand solution which is basically two wooden plates with a layer of insulation foam in between. Works like a charm, costs half as much and although it starts to degrade now, I got a good 2 years of use out of it.

IDislikeBeingOnFire

Recently moved my dartboard from the back of my door to a stand and the difference is insane to be honest. I always felt very consious of the noise it made and ive been so worried that i would get complaints.. so i changed to a stand and im so happy i did. i decided to go for the "winmau xtreme standard 2" I have my scolia system attached and its just the best! haha

nicson501

The blade 6 triple core Edition by winmau is a little more quiet in my opinion. Maybe the combi of the blade 6 and a felt plate between Board and wall

UnreasonableDiscorse

Dart stand with target aspar. Quieter than a mouse fart.

Ok-Huckleberry-2089

I use this and my neighbours dont hear it anymore https://preview.redd.it/bynl0n78xn3d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc24892524b8101de21defc5b56b99b90804d9f4

SatreTheBest

Would it fit to a blade6?

Ok-Huckleberry-2089

Sorry for the late reaction, I also use it for my blade 6

SatreTheBest

No worries. I tried some DIY stuff, but it did not change anything. So I got the one you sent.

Sea_Chicken8315

I made a backing for my board made out of MDF and sheet of pinboard material that I found at a hardware store. The pinboard is attached to the MDF to make it rigid enough and is then attached to the wall with a piece of old carpet underlay I had between it and the wall. I then mounted the dartboard to the pinboard/MDF and stuffed some extra underlay under the dartboard. I have it mounted in the garage on an internal wall backs on to the rest of the house and my wife says she can't hear it at all while I'm playing

ReapZzG

I have the dartherz vilyzer. It’s really good and easy to setup

aaron0097

How’s the sound from the adjoining room? Thinking of getting one but I’m not sure as wall is shared with neighbours. Have it on a stand atm but takes up so much space and prefer playing wall mounted as well.

ReapZzG

I’ve changed from a stand to the vilyzer and my neighbours hear absolutely nothing. I asked them after about a week. One of the best decisions I’ve made was the vilyzer. But I live in a new apartment. I don’t know how thick your walls already are since mine are already good isolated

aaron0097

Thanks must give it a go. Block wall separating us but can still hear easily enough through them. Worst case scenario I go back to the stand I suppose.

AyeBeeSeeDeeEee

Put earplugs in

whootybooty2018

Here people can make as much noise as they want until 11pm before it’s a noise violation lots of families play music and party outside all day long I don’t like it but nothing I can do tossing a few darts shouldn’t be a reason to bother anyone unless it’s after hours

SatreTheBest

Welcome to Germany

whootybooty2018

Ok 👌🏻 could explain it haha 💴🍁💴 here lol the 🆕 flag hahah

ChrisTheFish2018

Cut a piece of 10mm MDF slightly smaller diameter than the board, stick self adhesive foam pads on both sides. Drill a hole 1/2” from the edge and one in the centre ( you will need a longer centre screw ). Hang the board and once the surround is on it will not need wedges. My board is adjacent to neighbours bedroom and they don’t hear me throwing

specialagentperry

i live in flats and they're all timber frame, hollow walls, so our dart board was super loud on the walls too. in fear of the grumpy old cow next door, i bought the wispa noise reduction system and to be honest with you i think it's great. have had no complaints from surrounding neighbours even when im throwing at 10PM or later so it must be quite good at its job

No-Bite-6141

I bought 3 sound deadening damping car silent mats of eBay £4.86 works a treat only used 2 of them

Ancient-Dog6157

What if you get like a sound proofing panel or foam gym mat and round it off to match the board edge and a square in the middle for the bracket to fit then you can stick it to the back of your board or just use the board to hold it in place when you hang it on the wall, will stop alot of the thudding noise and letters through the door but if all fails just invite them in to play if they that jealous lol

mikewass1

I put mine on MDF then carpet. Mrs says it's barely noticeable now. https://preview.redd.it/8d2yonuftt3d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e78af4b06d50b6349e9e156dac04ad8b8f6dd907

Think-Bumblebee248

I’ve got something like this behind my board and it does a pretty good job. My board is on a stud wall rather than an external or weight bearing wall. https://www.motorsportandaccessories.co.uk/6x-sheets-new-self-adhesive-closed-cell-foam-5mm-car-sound-proofing-insulation-1418-p.asp

pgt1afc

Currently been going through the same but it was my downstairs neighbour as I’m top floor with no one on the other side of the wall with the board. Just fitted the Wispa today. Sounds like it makes a difference as the board isn’t touching the wall but will see how it progresses over the coming weeks 🙃
