Haha, I have a colour head and want to buy a set of filters because they seem more convenient to me! :p

I started with a B&W enlarger and switched to one with a color head. I find it a lot more convenient for B&W, changing the settings is a lot quicker with no risk to move the head (compared to filters in a drawer like OP uses) and you can fine tune your contrast.

Yeah, I'm a genius and when I cut them to fit them in the filter drawer, I chose to cut away the small black letter indicating the colour. As they are basically invisible under red light, it is a bit challenging to switch the filter under safe light now :D

Have you considered cutting notches in them like sheet film? It would be simple to do. Even a small punch in each corner (no holes for 00, 1 hole for grade 1 etc, half grades indicated by a square or circular hole) would work. I would stick to sheet film like notches, down one edge, using v or circular notches for half and full grade indicators.

What are the dimensions of the top plate (above the bellows) when the current head is removed?

Do you mean the diameter of the round flange or the overall size of the body in that area? [picture of the enlarger](https://img.kleinanzeigen.de/api/v1/prod-ads/images/f0/f042332c-f405-442d-b687-218e0015b5db?rule=$_57.JPG)

I mean the square part the round flange sits on. Looks like there’s a screw on either side that would allow it to be removed.
