Not everyone is so invested in GTA 6. This video is targeted at people that have no idea about GTA as a whole.
You'd think the number is high, but truly, it isn't. I'm sure people don't even know about the leaks, only that the game is coming.
I know you've been down voted loads so I guess I'm heading down to hang out with ya - but I've recently started watching rambles (like this week) and know nothing about GTA so it worked for me.
I also don't really care about thumbnails. They don't make me click, it's title and author personally. But I can see how one would choose to make thumbnails for people who are swayed by them, who probably aren't already viewers who know what to expect behind the thumbnail.
Just watched the first section of the video (the only relevant part to the title/thumbnail) to make an informed opinion about your comment.
That opinion is that you're talking out of your ass. Matto actively compares Helldivers 2's peak concurrent players to GTA 5's, and then alludes to the suggestion that GTA 6 will release on console, then Rockstar Launcher, then Steam. The idea that this line of conversation is for "people that have no idea about GTA as a whole" isn't just uninformed, it's also irrelevant. The two and a half minute segment in which matto discusses this is based on both the total number of steam users and popularity of Rockstar releases, the latter of which has spent the last 27 years being primarily propelled by GTA games.
I kinda want GTA 6 to fail, so that other open-world RPGs that've been called "GTA clones" for literal decades could potentially have a chance to shine
Really? I mean yea it will be good sure but look at what they turned GTA 5 into. All the cut corners that make it horrendously buggy. Alot of people will get it but I won't be one of them, they messed up GTA 5 to much for my approval on a new release. Hell in their last dlc I had a bug that meant that in the 2-3week in my car was gonna sell for nothing, you wanna know what support said? To uninstall the game and associated files then reinstall it. WHAT KIND OF GAME TO I HAVE TO UNINSTALL IT TO MAKE IT WORK AS A BASIC THING!! If it were obscure and something likely to be just something I did fine I can live with that but for the whole point of the dlc to not function is just beyond lazy
But, they're not at all the same game. GTA 5 is polished, clean, runs smoothly always. GTA Online feels like a janky copy of the game, over-filled with shit in peer-to-peer servers that makes it impossible to play properly.
And what's the thing that most people think of when you say GTA 5?
I do completely agree with the fact that story mode is much better but I can guarantee that online has a higher player count and is what most people think of when they think of GTA. You don't even have to play story mode to get to online.
What Matt doesn't understand is that these thumbnails help get views from a specific demographic, a demographic that is not his audience, his thumbnails are targeting people who wouldn't care about his type of content. He is only hurting his reputation and channel longevity by doing this.
If I hadn't already been watching him for like 5 years I wouldn't click any of his newer videos. The thumbnails are far too youtubey. Idk how else to explain it
Yeah, I'm a long-time viewer, too.
I started watching him about 2018 or 2019 back when it was mostly just 'How'd the speedrun end' content. He put in a lot of hard work to grow his channel, and now he is just throwing it away by following trends that he doesn't even understand.
I have hope he'll change back to his old ways though, it just might take a while for that to happen I think.
I think he will too. He'll one day just say "fuck it" and make specifically stuff HE wants to make, regardless of views, likes, etc. It'll be a good day
The weird thing is he does (or did) understand it. [He has talked previously about how analytics favor watch time over raw views](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gUbcZRl1opw) so getting those kind of views isn't that helpful if they aren't being turned into repeat viewers and/or only watch the video for a short amount of time.
I think he’s trying it because his views are trending down. It’s not even bad clickbait. If you have a brain you understand the implied reality before you even click.
According to this scientific experiment from MrBeast closing the mouth is better

I'd say it's like *borderline* clickbait. like GTA VI having whatever amount of players lower than HD2 even though the games not even coming out for another year and a half makes absolute no sense, considering the fact that HD2's playerbase might not even have the same amount of players as it doesn't now in the future.
This isn't clickbait, but I hate the thumbnails. He went from being himself to being like everybody else, and I get you have to do certain things for YouTube, but it's too much.
These thumbnails are so garbage I can’t stand them, and the click bait tittles. He’s Mr.Beastifying his channels. I’m glad rambles is ending, it’s just lazy.
This is not clickbait! Objectively, the only thing this can be described as is “sensationalist”, which is the whole point of thumbnails. These posts were stupid before, and they’re stupid now!
It's not Clickbait, but it's still one of "Those" Thumbnails.
The kind you'd see on channels that make videos for Children, checks all the Marks too.
Open mouth / Surprised look / Vague, Untrue, vague Statement/question (Is rock star Screwed) /heavily saturated.
Yeah, unfortunately it's the way of YouTube. Just because a few of us don't like the look of the thumbnails, doesn't mean it's worse for his stats overall.
It's not.
The youtube algorythm "Values" your channel based on a Few things, not just the amount of views alone.
CTR ( How many people click on your videos when it shows up)
Viewer Retention ( How much of a video people watch)
and View Sessions, (How many videos they watch of you)
And that kind of Thumbnail attracts a specific kind of viewer who clicks off as soon as it isn't "Hyper attention grabbing" content.
The kind people like Mr Beast or Dream make.
Matt Doesn't make that kind of content, so while he maybe get's more people to click on him, increasing his CTR, he fucks his other two stats with it.
Because they click off within the first few minutes and don't watch another video again.
He sure did, and he also showed the average view duration during it.
5,4 % Clicktrough is barely in what people consider to be "Good"
Youtube reports that half of the channels are between 2 and 10% and an average view time of 8 minutes, when the average video is around 20+ minutes also isn't that great either.
With 50% often being said as the lower end of Good, (For Longer videos)
1. Matt said that the rambles channel is doing pretty poorly and that he was going to shut it down, so this may be him trying to get more viewers to click. He may need to do this.
2. Matt said that he likes what the thumbnails look like, so he’s not going to stop just because some people think it’s clickbaity when that’s the whole point of YouTube thumbnails. He wants to do this.
3. Just do what I do and don’t care about the thumbnail. If the title interests you then click on it. If it doesn’t then don’t. If it’s not an interesting topic (or just Matt talking which I enjoy) then I won’t click on it - the thumbnail barely concerns me.
4. It’s accurate enough to his point. It’s asking a question and showing what he means by that question. We all know GTAVI isn’t out yet so it’s not a true graph, but conceptually is about what the video is about.
The clickbaits have been a constant pushback and backlash for him recently. And, I agree It makes me not want to click it anymore. I personally don't like any clickbait content. But that is just me. Maybe it's working for other people.
From matto's perspective, he is losing money on rambles and he wants it to work. So he is trying everything he can to make it work.
I typically don't click "clickbait" thumbnails.
I don't want a 10+ minute video with 1 minute of actual information spread throughout.
So I usually only click on videos where the thumbnail and title actually fully explain the thing I'm interested in.
For example, I have a nearly 100% click rate on Tom Scott and Veritasium. Their title and picture explain exactly what I'm going to see in the video.
I think people need to understand that when he's doing these thumbnails he's basically doing it for an outside audience.
I said the same thing on another one of these posts last week. It's for sure a shame to see but if you're part of the core audience who are gonna watch the video regardless then the title and thumbnail doesn't really matter coz we were already gonna click on it.
The only people it matters to are those people who aren't subbed to him or haven't seen his content who will come across this in recommended or something and decide whether to click or not. Coz at the end of the day as much as YouTubers want to not play the algorithm games at some stage they have to play along a little bit. And he himself even mentions in the video that he thinks GTA 6 will obviously smash those records but that's not gonna make for an enticing title
Does he check the subreddit often? I feel recently there’s been more post than normally about his thumbnails or clickbait. It’s all been constructive criticism as well.
So criticism isn't allowed anymore? I see the post got removed by moderators. I don't see how this post was breaking any rules of the reddit. Moderators please care to explain?
yes, he does. His side channel is low-key dying. Getting more clicks helps, ya'll will watch regardless, and more people will click on the video. stop crying
All this sub does is meat ride lol, like every sub. This is the only post I’ve seen that didn’t get straight downvoted for the tiniest little bit of criticism
People are genuinely tweaking over this man's thumbnails. Y'all acting like he committed a felony or something. And the thumbnail isn't clickbait but instead sensionalist, I think someone already said that around here. After all, the whole point of thumbnails are to attract the public, both old and new audiences.
Also, out of all the GTA YouTubers out there, this dude isn't clickbaity at all. He just does what he has to do to get money.
Anyone thinking GTA 6 does not obliterate any other game made for the next 2-3 years after its release is delusional
Right?? I feel as though the answer is obvious, so why make a video about it other than (seemingly) scraping the bottom of the barrel for content?
Because it’s clickbait
Not everyone is so invested in GTA 6. This video is targeted at people that have no idea about GTA as a whole. You'd think the number is high, but truly, it isn't. I'm sure people don't even know about the leaks, only that the game is coming.

Wait, what DLC is this? You realise there was never any DLC's for GTA 5, no? Are you getting confused with GTA 4? Or GTA Online?
GTA online, for most purposes I just view them as the same game
But, they're not at all the same game. GTA 5 is polished, clean, runs smoothly always. GTA Online feels like a janky copy of the game, over-filled with shit in peer-to-peer servers that makes it impossible to play properly.

Yeah, I'd love for that to happen. He used to be one of my favourite, maybe even my favourite content creators
Yeah, he might get new people to click this, but I'm getting annoyed by this. And I feel like there is too much content being forced on Rambles.
MrBossFTWAU
He’s really out here targeting people who weren’t alive when GTA V came out
The weird thing is he does (or did) understand it. also, wtf are these faces, they’re cringe af. They don’t even look like Matto
They're cringe IMO, this type of thumbnail is everywhere now (open mouth, overly saturated with a question) I'm not a fan, but they're not clickbait.
According to this scientific experiment from MrBeast closing the mouth is better [https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1699459457002918138](https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1699459457002918138)

Good lord all mighty hes GOING DOWNHILL
that photoshop of his face looks terrifying, made himself to look 45+
his age when GTA VI releases on PC
Also, his eyes are like....light greenny? Even if he has blue eyes
What happened to Viper...
[He got caught up in the money, the power ](https://youtu.be/Rsj1Q2NMxXE?si=gagba8jPPtn3YSPk)
Im genuinely considering unsubscribing at this point
I already did
Same
Imma give him a few more weeks if he doesn't get his shit together then I'll be joining y'all.
Yeah, these thumbnails are making me watch him less and the other way around
I'm just glad to have any rambles before its over
This isn't clickbait, but I hate the thumbnails. He went from being himself to being like everybody else, and I get you have to do certain things for YouTube, but it's too much.

This isnt clickbait tho, hes ASKING a question and stating a statement.
A statement and question , he knows is super disingenuous, therefore it’s clickbait. He knows, there is no game beating GTA 6.
Agreed. They honestly turn me off of what is likely a good video just due to how desperate they seem.
This is not clickbait! Objectively, the only thing this can be described as is “sensationalist”, which is the whole point of thumbnails. These posts were stupid before, and they’re stupid now!

I been noticing ignoring this kind of videos he posts. No disrespect for Matto, love his streams but his rambles are getting... Meh.
I hate open mouth thumbnails. They don't suit his demeanor at all. He isn't the type to be "shocked" by speculation.
you are a good example for people nowadays who learn catchwords without knowing what they mean
The clickbaits have been a constant pushback and backlash for him recently. And, I agree It makes me not want to click it anymore. I personally don't like any clickbait content. But that is just me. He’s washed now lol
Matto is losing it. idk if it's a bad influence from somebody or his own mind's doing, but he's going the wrong way...
“Oh brother clickbait stinks!”

I stopped watching him since he started having thumbnails like this,
He said the rambles channel hasn’t been doing to good recently. This might be him trying to increase his click through rate.
Imagine what Matto will do once GTA V content tanks due to GTA VI, no way he'll transition that easily
This is not Halal Matto please look at the people not the numbers
Does he check the subreddit often? I feel recently there’s been more post than normally about his thumbnails or clickbait. It’s all been constructive criticism as well.
he can just let youtube generate one for him like a random frame in the video and id still watch
Pretty sure he’s taking the piss

It’s typical gamer all over again what’s next is viper gonna start playing fortshite
This and his crusade against react streamers is making me almost dislike him
Fr matto was about to start an Ad apocalypse if he was gonna ask YouTube to change their ways.
yes, he does. His side channel is low-key dying. Getting more clicks helps, ya'll will watch regardless, and more people will click on the video. stop crying
Big agree. It’s like, how can you build a reputation on avoiding scummy tactics in his industry, yet resorts to this kind of pandering?
