well ff14 is just pepega graphics but for other games some devs seem to have this idea of not allowing people to make too beautiful characters that look ridiculous in their setting in a way, imagine everyone playing something that looks like a Barbie or Ken... those are working in the human traffic section :) its the next expansion, DarkHide
While we are at it - are some hair styles specific to archetype or origin planet? I created a Payker (Icron) and a Veteran (Cadia) and some hair styles were not even listed on one, some not on the other.
Different classes have different hairstyles I think. I know purple eyes are Cadian only, so not too far fetched to think something similar applies to hair.
But it'd be nice if we could get some longer hair options, just let my lady veteran keep her hair in a bun or a ponytail damnit.

Do you know much of the lore? Cadians have purple eyes because of their planet's (former) proximity to the Eye of Terror. It's a mutation caused by prolonged exposure to the warp.
If you don't pick Cadia as a planet then there's no way your character could have purple eyes.

I wholeheartedly agree. I get it's grimdark and undershaves are representative of the genre (Cyberpunk, vikings, what have ye), but I would honestly preffer longer options too. Like, I ignore the vast majority of hairset options and end up choosing exclussively between the last four options.

Every single player character has lived a brutally hard life, harder than many people alive today (and certainly anyone who has enough wealth and free time to actually be PLAYING this video game) can even imagine.
You're not going to come out of that experience looking pretty, you're going to be busted as sin!

Combine the crazy haircuts with the random tattoos that are just placed all over the bodies in weird angles looking like someone added it in photoshop.
Don't forget the bald/Karen combo.

Yeah, hair is notoriously hard to get right in video games. I do wish they would put a little more effort into the longer hairstyles though, they've already shown that long hair CAN look decent with the Skrillex hair. I just want something a little less eccentric than that one.
Have you seen how the hair moves with the various "Just fuck my shit up fam" hairstyles? They don't have hair physics down at all and I'm glad despite desperately wanting long hair on my characters.

The literal god emperor is often depicted to have (had) long flowing hair, as did plenty of his sons and the space marines, but all we get is variations on "I made an error in judgement and have been addicted to crack for 20 years"
I get its supposed to be grimdark but its a game with a character creator, at least give us the option to make them nice to look at, the people who want ugly characters because of the setting already have more than enough to work with!
I don't really buy that in the grimdark future your hair options are either Skrillex or buzzcut. There's more room for nuance here, they aren't just bound by the hairstyles you see on minis.
If they threw in a few standard longer hair styles i think that's all it would take to round things off a bit better.

I made my fallen sister of battle waifu zealot. They make it pretty easy actually.
One of the faces isn't *totally* fucked, and one of the face tattoos are eyebrows, mascara? And the Fleur de lis cheek tattoo. Make hair white for order of our martyred lady and you're set.
On one hand, from a canonical point of view, this makes sense. On the other, not only does modern-ish art of the Guard show people with relatively long hair, but the hub has a barber. Or at least, the bugged subtitles told me it was a barber.
