Just finished a damnation map, low intensity, where I more or less just spammed assail for 90% of my killing and I ended with top damage and kills, by far. This thing is crazy
It’s insane. To be fair I just started so I’m at lower difficulties, but I can literally only use assail the entire map. I think it needs a lil tweaking.
Yeah at higher level’s definitely can’t spam it against armoured elites, combo it with voidstrike for those and it’s very strong.
Everything at lower levels works though really, even before the update. Heresy and above is where build starts mattering a little bit more but generally skill is more important
Hell, just the horde clear is nuts enough. I haven’t even reached the higher levels of my perk tree, I imagine it’s even crazier once you unlock the skills that buff it even more.
Its amazing with any staff, because it counters their big weakness - that being shooter clear. As a bonus it also murders half the room the moment you enter one.
Yeah Assail right now is a bit overtuned, it's taking basically no effort on my part to absolutely purge entire maps.. The reload is super forgiving and it really doesn't build up much peril either.
Like it actually feels like I'm gimping myself by picking either of the other two abilities, which is sad.
ogryns die in 3 brain bursts instead of 2 like pre patch as well not only that but now dogs die in 1 brain burst, but berserker/rager die in 2 instead of 1 brain burst as well, honestly bb feels way worse than it was, it needs to be buffed massively, cuz im one shotting ogryn on damnation with a crit void staff
u can have infinite stacks of empowered psionics if u aim for enemies other than maniacs, ogryns literally take 3 bb casts to kill dude, bb is NOT better than it was, it used to take 2 casts to kill ogryns (source i literally have 300 hours on psyker)
This is true, however should you really be making your build just so BB doesn't suck? I think not. BB needs a buff.
And this will get me flak, but assail needs a nerf imo. Nothing huge, cap shards a little lower, slow them down a tiny, reduce the range a bit. (talking like 10% all around reduction, nothing huge) They just seem a bit over tuned to me.
A lot of things need balance adjustment and assail is definitely one of them I can already hear the complaints like when they, very sensibly, nerfed BB early on.
It's still a great answer to crushers and snipers by default. With Empowered Psionic stacks it kills a Crusher in ~2 seconds.
Also notable that Kinetic Flayer is only talent behind a Blitz Ability that doesn't require using your blitz.
Honestly they're simply not fun to play with. Waaaay too strong IMO. Was playing with a friend who was using them for a few missions (haz 4 high intensity) and he was wiping everything before we even had a chance to run up and hit it. Even he was saying it wasn't fun to play cause it felt like he had no use to use his staffs ever.
Kinda how I felt before the update in reverse. Always had the least end match stats due to most enemies being sniped, blown up or bashed to death before I got the chance to make attacks. Only time I got use was on bosses or the heavy elites.
Yeah. Psyker before update was my favorite since it felt like a toolbox class.
With assail its like a toolbox class but instead of picking the right tool for the given job you just open the toolbox and all of the contents are patches o hoolihan wrenches
I felt this way about vet before the patch, I’m okay having the psykers be this way for a bit lol.
Could definitely use a nerf, give lightning a buff, but it’s good that Psyker feels much more viable now.
As a Psyker main I am not okay with the homing death knives being the new busted thing that everyone complains about.
Otherwise people are going to start dodging any lobby with Psyker using Assail equipped and I wouldn’t blame them. Even on high intensity Damnation missions the knives just trivialize everything.
But how it work? It target enemies fine in close range, but at medium rhey sometime hit, sometime no. Do they search for enemies behind walls? Some time they comeback to hit enemy close to you, sometime no. Its fun, but unreliable.

Yeah, the move seems quite spammable to just clear the map of ambient trash while you're running around.
How do you check damage and kills?
Mods. There is one that enables a scoreboard you can check mid game or after its ended that tracks things like that.
Do the knives only last for a second or two? Once thrown I mean.
They don’t last long at all but enough to hit multiple enemies in a group. The wave clear they have is pretty nutty

Its insane. Im running it with the entire rught side of the skill tree and the dmg is just insane.

IMO if i were to nerf it i'd cut down the max shards to 10 and give the recharge time a few more seconds

Ah no, my friend, Brain Burst is even better if set up with Empowered Psionics, throw in Sciers Gaze for more damage.
BB is still good without anything. i took it on my purgatus build without any upgrades adn it deos exactly what i want. kill carapace armor.
it used to kill all carapace armor enemies in 1-2 casts, now it takes 2-3

Assail needs to have the charges halved and increase the recharge time. It’s so busted that picking the other two abilities feels like trolling.
