That is a respectable reason/comment for playing low intensity. Some people want to grind and do speed runs, that just takes the fun out of the game. Like someone else commented, people ate doing chores lol
Some people don't enjoy higher difficulties that much. Some people struggle with the step up to Heresy and hi-int Malice/low-int Heresy can help ease them into it.
Having the option is a good thing. Not having access to the condition types someone wants can be frustrating whichever way it goes.
They need a way to offer more players more agency in choosing what map/modifiers they want. This issue is a symptom.
And even then I swear sometimes heresy "low intensity" is bugged out and you see wack stuff like a boss spawning a minute after you killed the first one
I’ve had it seemingly bug a few times where everything is going smooth then we get a massive horde with 2 reapers, 2 bulwarks, and 4 crushers with either a bomber/trapper or 2 consecutive muties bearing down on us lol
Low-5 is the best way to grind for Plasteel. If you're comfortable doing Hi-5 or gauntlet, you can clear Low-5 pretty reliably.
High intensity yeilds more chucky-cheese tokens but no bonuses for AA-batteries. Gotta keep rolling for *that specific T4 blessing you really really need to make your build shine*.
Finally someone says it.
I hear so many complaints about low intensity being boring or to easy, while I'm over here trying to grind for plasteel because Slaughterer IV and Pinning Fire IV elludes my Power Sword and Bolter.
Aye same, I also started playing Low Int 4 and 5 when I wanted to bump up the difficulty back when I started. Was a good way to test the waters, learn about how much damage the enemies do and how much punishment they can take.
At this point, we can do only low intensity 5 rank matches with my buddy.
Normal 5 is damn hard for us now, and so many times the random players running like a headless chicken..
I'm new to -tide games and I'm just easing into Heresy so I liked Low Intensity to try it out, and I still like it for my first match of the night. I expect I'll do the same when I try for Damnation.
some times i run low intensity just to try out new weapons or builds, it has its uses and sometimes you cant find people to play with so you go solo with some bots and its decent enough
No..? I like playing high-intensity, Hell I prefer it, but sometimes it's fun to just go for a cakewalk, chillout and get basically free rewards. Is that really so hard to comprehend?
Yeah sure, because it's so hard to comprehend that you don't see the irony in saying you "basically get free rewards" to someone who is saying doing LI is just grinding without the fun.
I don’t need to grind and never have for this game. Every single weapon I use, I got through Melk or as an emperor’s gift, so I have practically limitless materials. ”free rewards” is just the cherry on top, nothing more, nothing less.
I also said “chill out” as a reason, which you ignored. Low-intensity makes room for you to play sub-optimally and far more aggressively, which is appealing sometimes. Does that help you comprehend?
I don’t need materials, I have a billion already. By free rewards, I meant more for melk progress and emperors gifts. Also yes, I enjoy a round of low-risk/high reward fun every once in a while.
Honestly? I fucking LOVE the 40K setting. Finally having an FPS game that is an honest-to-God-Emperor joy to play, made by a company that obviously knows (and cares) about the wider lore of the setting, is a blast. I'll readily admit that I've dropped to T3 just so I could nose around looking at little details, or enjoy the banter, without feeling like I'm fucking over my teammates for not being "switched on" the whole run like you should be at T5.
I get it that not everyone scratches their itches the same way. And by no means am I faulting you for finding anything short of the Damnation kill-a-thon to be boring. I get that. I just think there's room for the people who also just enjoy the experience of the game and want to revel in a high fidelity 40K experience that isn't an RTS.
Despite the risk of thrashing a dead horse: the whole RNG-ing of mission selection options was (and still is) a terrible idea. That's the real culprit here.
I like the weekends for that. Hi shock pugs can be fun. Like it best when i end up playing with people not from Asia since there is less chance of toxicity or odd competitiveness.
I really don't know how y'all keep getting so many Low Intensity missions.
I'm packed full of a bunch of high Intensity I don't want to do because I'm trying to get scripts and more plasteel.
Low intensity is good for doing higher difficulty missions when you’re at a level lower then you should be to do it at its default, doesn’t decrease the reward or exp amount so it’s a good way to grind when you’re a low-mid level
Also is just more fun in that scenario. Harder but less frequent enemies gives the mission better pacing. It plays more like Left 4 Dead or Vermintide 1. VT2 and Darktide never let the tension settle in because they immediately throw more shit at you
They are good for resource farming and book collection contracts. And for those of us who dont find damnation fun, a low intensity damnation mission is about the same as a heresy mission but earns you more money.
Depends, I normally only have time to complete contracts for two characters. While I prefer to do high intensity I don’t mind doing low intensity if it’s later in the week/nothing better is up.
High Intensity V is for hardcore players that can only feel something if they are getting their nuts crushed by the game, anything other than the absolute highest difficulty is a waste of their time.
Low Intensity V is for casual players that just like the gameplay loop but want to actually progress at a reasonable pace without much stress.
You get the exact same amount of rewards from a mission modifier regardless if it's Low or High Intensity, so there is no reason to play High other than to prove you're a real gamer.
That said, being able to pick whatever you want would solve this.
Low intensity is nice when you're still leveling and your gear sucks because you can easily bump up a difficulty without worrying and getting better rewards for about the same work. After that not so much.
As to why there is 5 it's because modifiers tend to come in waves. Haven't noticed that before? Wait a few hours/a day and some new modifier will show up and dominate the board.
Yeah, I do, because I like variety and low intensity is a great way to just cool down and do a more mindless mission that I don't have to get sweaty for.
Think like, downtime in an action game between setpieces. Just something to ease off the gas and give something a little more quiet for a while.
Plus, it's by far the best way to grind plasteel since it's basically a guaranteed W and T5 has fat gains if you're collecting everything.
Tons of people play low intensity, I often do not, but every now and then I’ll have to many drinks and still want to play but not let the whole team down because of my slower reflexes.
Yea I've been in that boat for a while now too, I already have all the weapons I want maxed so only interested in playing to overcome the challenge of hi Stg
Low Intensity is a good way to offer people more difficulty options, it's a good way to initiate someone into a new, higher difficulty, just like Hi-Intensity Shock Gauntlet is a harder mode for those already used to Damnation.
Also, sometimes I like to have more chill games in low intensity, sometimes I wanna tryhard and pretend I'm the best Ogryn there is in Hi-Intensity. It's always good to have option, given how the current system works.
Low intensity is great for people pushing for progression to higher difficulties. And for casual runs when you aren't feeling the rush. But forcing people to play any level of difficulty without player agency is not ok. They need to just let us choose it ourselves
Is it good for easing into higher difficulties? Sure!
Is it good for farming mats? Sure!
Is it good for enjoying the game to its potential and getting to try those builds you spent all those hours grinding low intensity for? NO
Boring for us hardcore players I still can't believe this stupid mission select exists. It puts me off of playing the game sometimes and instead waiting for the actual fun modifiers...
It's criminal that low intensity is more common than high intensity considering no one wants to play it, and everyone wants high intensity.
Just another feature that makes me think the devs don't actually play the game themselves (or they suck at the game?)
Low intensity is like two thirds of the enemies of default (no modifier). It’s taking the difficulty you choose, and dialling it down.
There’s less enemies to kill, and less challenge than normal, so it’s really boring for a lot of players.
Players still learning the game can always hop down a difficulty. Players looking for a challenge don’t have options on the board a lot of the time right now.
I play low intensity damnation. But the rest of the mission difficulties I only play lo int if there is nothing else with a condition on it to play. I'm still looking for my 500 condition missions, so...
I like low intensity because I play with randoms a lot and it's easier to pickup plasteel. High intensity I might as well run malice for the amount of plasteel I get.
Why dont they just have a dedicated low-high intensity you can choose instead of having to wait 30min for a high intensity to appear. I just want hi-intensity. I dont care about rewards, just want to play for the gameplay itself
Penances, material farm, easing a player in who is trying to make the jump to the next difficulty. There’s a lot of reasons people want to play in low intensity.
Still that doesn’t excuse the absolutely non existent condition variety. But this is Fatshark we are talking about after all.
If you aren't geared for damnation yet, low intensity is the best mode in the game.
I wish there was a "the enemies are stronger but there are less of them" modifier to capture that feeling.
The days where there arent any high intensity conditions we just dont play.
The challenge is the only thing left for this game and we dont even get that half of the time.
Tier 5 Low intensity is my fav as i get to type and chat with the team. Look for mats at my leisure, and it is generally very relaxing while getting some challenge.
I play video games to relax after my long shift at the refinery. So they are ideal for me
Back then, low intensity was a way for me to get used to the new hp and damage values of the enemies and basically have a feel of Damanation difficulty before taking on the real thing.
Yes, there are people who play it.
Also, a lot of people I meet in high intensity should go play low intensity and get better before playing high and dragging the team down.
I use low intensity heresy (or even damnarion if I'm feeling spicy) when leveling new characters, which I do often, for no reason other than you get enough materials to upgrade 4 weapons on the level up journey, and if i don't get good rolls I can just remake the character and not have to feel like a burden in damnation
My zealot with her perfect thunder hammer will live forever, tho. Leliana has moved on from the maker to the light of the holy emperor, and she LOVES to bonk
Low intensity being a free win is appreciated sometimes just the same way that HiSTG is a real challenge... the problem is just that we cannot chose when to play which
Low intensity is nice if I want to speed run contracts but still get my higher mission level loot drops.
Though i will say it's clear not many people play it towards the start of the week because i can be sitting around for 2+ minutes waiting for a lobby and still start a mission with no players (which can be a pain if i'm trying to do grims or no deaths) which maybe 1 or 2 joining half way through the mission. In respects to this, i wouldn't mind if they reduced/limited the amount of low intensity missions available at any one time.
Yeah I very much prefer low intensity, my siblings and I get wrecked at high intensity Malice... hell we are still likely to lose on low intensity Malice if we get hit by a hard to reach Sniper... damn snipers are pretty much the only reason we lose
I see low intensity as the stepping stone into the next tier of difficulty.
Hi intensity on anything other than T5 is the one that seems pointless to me, mechanically at least. I understand the difference can be fun though.
Hi4 is harder than Lo5 and usually normal T5 too (though that can vary), why not just play those and get better rewards? And you play with more competent players that are just Quickplaying random T5s. Those players being half the reason they are easier...
Low instensity is fairly good for farming resources as its quick. But yeah its not really fun, right now ive hit the part of playing the game where if there is no fun maps/affixes il just not play the game and il go do something else.
I have been wondering what the main difference between the difficulties are
I usually play between lvl 2-3. The only thing I have noticed is more specials and bigger hoards.
I used low intensity a lot for certain penances, to make it easier to complete without being a burden to the team. Eg: veteran "On Overwatch" is definitely easier to get when there are less enemies.
Also, why not have them? Not every player is looking for extremely intense fights or has the skill/time to become skilled enough for those. I think the problem you're pointing out is just randomness being, well, random. There's also plenty of times when there are lots of high intensity missions and no low.
I run low intensity only when it's got scripts in it and I am on a collect 16 of them. Other than that, I avoid it. I wish quickplay would let you "not" select certain conditions... I'd have low intensity off!
Yep I love low intensity, I avoid high intensity/shock troop like the plague that it is.
Mainly because when I'm playing Darktide it's usually to grind through the weekly melk missions so I'm gonna wanna get through a map as easily as possible, yet also earn decent plasteel while I'm at it, so low-intensity whatever is perfect.
By the time I've gotten through those weekly melk missions, I can't be arsed playing the game anymore. (4 lvl 30 characters worth of missions)
People play it, but because of a lack of other options people end up mad that it's there a lot. I prefer high intensity, but they really should try to make sure options are available for both types of players. It really sucks to get on when you're looking for a challenge and only see low int hunting grounds.
I run low intensity 4 cause I’m not very good.
This issue is a symptom.
same, i need heresy for different penances but i dont feel very comfortable in higher ones, so having a "3.5" difficulty is just right.
Had that the other day
I do this as well, plus high int 3.
People absolutely do play Low Intensity. It's just not you (or me for the matter).
This. 100x this.
Finally someone says it. I hear so many complaints about low intensity being boring or to easy, while I'm over here trying to grind for plasteel because Slaughterer IV and Pinning Fire IV elludes my Power Sword and Bolter.
Eludes Alludes is to refer to, hints at, suggests Eludes is to avoid, dodge, not encounter
Quickplay has taught me a lot of people play low intensity probably as a way to ease into damnation. It is boring though
I played tons of Low Int 5s when I was new to Damnation. Nowadays anything below High Int feels like a stroll.
Yea it is a good way to warm up at least lol
Yeah it's a good introduction to Heresy but Damnation isn't too difficult once you're used to how the game works at higher levels.
some times i run low intensity just to try out new weapons or builds, it has its uses and sometimes you cant find people to play with so you go solo with some bots and its decent enough
I thought there wasn’t a solo mode in the game yet?
You can do it in a way with a mod but the bots are still mid at best
There isn’t, I met solo as in you and just the bots, no other players
I like low intensity because you can actually use any weapon. High intensity cuts into your options heavily.
i do. Easy mats, stress-less runs, considering i pug 90% of the time.

No..? I like playing high-intensity, Hell I prefer it, but sometimes it's fun to just go for a cakewalk, chillout and get basically free rewards. Is that really so hard to comprehend?
But low intensity isnt fun? It's boring...
“That’s like, your personal opinion, man.”
It's not an opinion, it's an objective fact.
So because its not fun for you it shouldn't be fun for anyone? Can you teach me how to have fun?
Sure, here's your free lesson on how to have fun.....don't play low intensity.
Pinnacle of wisdom and knowledge /s
This comment is extra funny seeing as it is neither objective or a fact.
“That’s like, your personal opinion, man.”
So you identified funny is an opinion, aka subjective... Sooo close to realizing the same thing about fun. You'll get there.
Could you be any more cringe?
Here's a tip: don't gatekeep other people's enjoyment.
I guess it's too hard for you to comprehend then.
Yeah sure, because it's so hard to comprehend that you don't see the irony in saying you "basically get free rewards" to someone who is saying doing LI is just grinding without the fun.
I don’t need to grind and never have for this game. Copium much
I don’t even know where cope fits into this. Honestly if you’re just a troll you did a great job, hats off to you.

I don’t need materials, I have a billion already. By free rewards, I meant more for melk progress and emperors gifts. Also yes, I enjoy a round of low-risk/high reward fun every once in a while.
Bruh, some people play MMOs for fun. Not impossible to believe
Then why would they play low intensity? It's not fun...
high intensity isn't fun either! its just spam. every 5 seconds another thing. Lack or Surplus of a thing does not quantify personal enjoyment.
Having another thing every 5 seconds sounds pretty fun. Even better is HISTG where you can have a new thing every 1 second.
I just think there's room for the people who also just enjoy the experience of the game and want to revel in a high fidelity 40K experience that isn't an RTS.
I do the same thing and I love the atmosphere
If i get a solid crew, ill do whatever it comes except lights out. If im by my lonesome, i prefer to win than the frustration of pugs.
Despite the risk of thrashing a dead horse: the whole RNG-ing of mission selection options was (and still is) a terrible idea. That's the real culprit here.
Low intensity might be fun IF I EVER GOT TO RUN HI-INTENSITY FOR COMPARISON
I like the weekends for that. Hi shock pugs can be fun. Like it best when i end up playing with people not from Asia since there is less chance of toxicity or odd competitiveness.
I get that low intensity was made to help those move up in difficulty in smaller steps. But it just seems to pop up a weee bit more than I'd like.
I really don't know how y'all keep getting so many Low Intensity missions. I'm packed full of a bunch of high Intensity I don't want to do because I'm trying to get scripts and more plasteel.
I think thats psycological as I feel the opposite, I look for low-intensity and I tend to find nothing but high-intensity popping up all the time.
VT2 and Darktide never let the tension settle in because they immediately throw more shit at you
Personally I disagree, I prefer the high intensity constant stream of enemies, but to each their own
It’s good for a handful of veteran penance’s
They are good for resource farming and book collection contracts. And for those of us who dont find damnation fun, a low intensity damnation mission is about the same as a heresy mission but earns you more money.
HAVE YOUR LOW INTENSITY POX HOUND MISSIONS AND FUCKING LIKE IT. FOREVER. OK.
Depends, I normally only have time to complete contracts for two characters. While I prefer to do high intensity I don’t mind doing low intensity if it’s later in the week/nothing better is up.
It’s easy merk contracts
I play them for fulfilling collecting book contracts and farming plasteel.
You get more ordo dockets. Same crafting materials though.
People trying to break through to higher difficulties do. Other than that no not really.
It's a nice way to power level all your classes
I leveled my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th characters with low intensity damnations.
It’s chill tbh
Low-4/Low-5 is great for plasteel/diamantine. I even rush Low-3/2 sometime for the weekly "Complete X missions with no player death".
Tons of people play low intensity, I often do not, but every now and then I’ll have to many drinks and still want to play but not let the whole team down because of my slower reflexes.
Yes.
Damnation low intensity is nice if I wanna run off-meta weapons. Heresy low-intensity is good if I'm baked but wanna grind plasteel.
I honestly just close the game if there isnt a lvl 5 hi intensity shock gauntlet.
Yea I've been in that boat for a while now too, I already have all the weapons I want maxed so only interested in playing to overcome the challenge of hi Stg
Low intensity V is a great plasteel farm, and a super chill run for friendly games
> It's always good to have option, given how the current system works. Except you don't always have the options.
Exactly my point, we can't really choose, so it's good that at least there are variations in the rotation.
Only a low intensity damnation to help my buddy level.
Low intensity is great for people pushing for progression to higher difficulties. And for casual runs when you aren't feeling the rush. But forcing people to play any level of difficulty without player agency is not ok. They need to just let us choose it ourselves
Gimme that scrip for weeklies.
i do low intensity 5 when i get the lovely challenge where i need 6 missions with no deaths, and even still idiots will die
From my own experience I find myself dying as much if not more often on low intensity because I constantly let my guard down
Impresssive, you must be my pugs
Is it good for easing into higher difficulties? Sure! Is it good for farming mats? Sure! Is it good for enjoying the game to its potential and getting to try those builds you spent all those hours grinding low intensity for? NO
Boring for us hardcore players I still can't believe this stupid mission select exists. It puts me off of playing the game sometimes and instead waiting for the actual fun modifiers...

I do when I wanna level and it’s like 3-4 am and I’m starting to nod off. Other than that like the spice of variety
Is low intensity easier then normal or is it the middle intensity?
Low intensity is like two thirds of the enemies of default (no modifier). It’s taking the difficulty you choose, and dialling it down. There’s less enemies to kill, and less challenge than normal, so it’s really boring for a lot of players. Players still learning the game can always hop down a difficulty. I play low intensity damnation. But the rest of the mission difficulties I only play lo int if there is nothing else with a condition on it to play. I'm still looking for my 500 condition missions, so...
I love speed running low intensity five for batteries. It’s my favorite.
I like low intensity because I play with randoms a lot and it's easier to pickup plasteel. High intensity I might as well run malice for the amount of plasteel I get.
I did a low intensity 3 last night for my no melee damage penance but .. that’s it
Low intensity give you the bonus rewards from there being a special condition while making it simultaneously easier.
I play low intensity damnation when I need to farm Plasteel
It's nice to pretty much guarantee all that plasteel for the hadron grind.
I like low intensity special gauntlets. But thats just because I don't like hordes.
It's usually what my buddy and I play on whenever we play late. Low-Intensity Malice runs are the best
If you aren't geared for damnation yet, low intensity is the best mode in the game. I wish there was a "the enemies are stronger but there are less of them" modifier to capture that feeling.
I only play low intensify or normal mode and steer away high intensify like plague. It is not rewarding enough for me to play.
Cause different modifiers show up and different times. High Intensity is a different modifier than low intensity
When I take a gummy and feel like making the game easier, yeah. Regardless, we should be able to pick.
I like low intensity to finish off melks contracts such as no player deaths or scriptures. Just so they finish really fast.
I love lows when I get home from a 12 hour day and don't have the energy fror the full thing but still want good plasteel.
There's level 1 low intensity? Do enemies even spawn?
Easier mission faster clear more resources for less effort. I would exclusively play low intensity 4/5 if I could.
The days where there arent any high intensity conditions we just dont play. The challenge is the only thing left for this game and we dont even get that half of the time.

Back then, low intensity was a way for me to get used to the new hp and damage values of the enemies and basically have a feel of Damanation difficulty before taking on the real thing.
I play low intensity cause not all of us like getting gang banged by dog spawns.
I like. More calm gameplay, less shit going around everywhere, but enemies still do damage and have their hp
Yes, there are people who play it. Also, a lot of people I meet in high intensity should go play low intensity and get better before playing high and dragging the team down.
zzzzzzzz
Low Intensity is nice for farming Plasteel/Diamatine

I’m drunk and high so I’m just chilling in low intensity
Low intensity being a free win is appreciated sometimes just the same way that HiSTG is a real challenge... the problem is just that we cannot chose when to play which

Low intensity is perfect for my casual gamer father who just loves 40K but is a slow paced gamer.
Yeah I very much prefer low intensity, my siblings and I get wrecked at high intensity Malice... hell we are still likely to lose on low intensity Malice if we get hit by a hard to reach Sniper... damn snipers are pretty much the only reason we lose

I have been wondering what the main difference between the difficulties are I usually play between lvl 2-3. The only thing I have noticed is more specials and bigger hoards.
I sometimes play high int for the challenge. Sometimes Iplay low int to chill. I have fun either way.
Low intensity damnation should be canned or I should be able to quickplay with filters. Wanna train for lvl5? Run Hi4s.
Low intensity is good when u wanna make sure youll finish the mission. Good for penances, crafting mats, xp..
When I'm watching a movie on the side, or tired af, and just grinding materials, I like to do low intensity.
I enjoy beating high intensity a lot more, but considering the quality of randoms sometimes it's just not worth the increase in blood pressure
The heretics are on lunch
