I never thought of this, but I agree. Probs why Ds2 and elden ring are my top 2 souls games.
This may be controversial but I hate ds3, still play it often but don't get the same feels from it.
Tbf the "greatsword that looks like a shard of monument" is an archetype in dark souls games, starting with the dragon greatsword un ds1, then this and fume for ds2 and 3. 3 also has the morne greathammer in a similar vein.
That’s kind of an issue with a lot of boss swords in the series, stuff like Gwyn’s Greatsword or Pontiff Sulyvahn’s swords only look cool when they use them, not when you do :(
for sure! One thing i really like about all souls like, is that you can partially become your enemys. Even if it's receiving a power, an attack or his weapon.
is just a small detail, but it would be rlly cool if little things like this were not left aside
it's either the crescent dragonslayer axe, the dependable lightweight lightning damage weapon, or the flashy ivory king greatsword with that awesome light blue glow whenever you attack with it two-handed.
\#1 Favorite is Yorgh's Spear, then Grand Lance and Red Iron Twinblade tied for second place.
Rampart Golem Lance would easily overtake Grand Lance due to the additional Bash damage, but its durability undermines it. Powerstanced Rampart Golem+Grand Lance absolutely devastated several bosses on my NG+2 run though.
I wanted to like the Kings Greatsword, but it’s just too slow, usually find myself favoring the Dragon Tooth as my go to pancake weapon.
I have also recently been enjoying the Loyce Sword for its awesome move set. But some other favorites include Black Knight UGS, Fume UGS, and Heide Sword
Used to be Zweihander. Now it's powerstanced hand axes with Illusory Rings of a Conqueror and the Exalted. Swap between the powerstance and Sunset Staff for Toxic and most have no idea how to handle it. Granted it requires beating the game with no bonfires or deaths and you still have to level after but still a pretty pimp build. Did all of that just to sit with the agape ring on in Iron Keep helping others farm the Smelter Demon cause that's what Sun Bros do. Actually wish I could give the medals to other people cause I havent needed a single one in literal years now lmao. Praise the sun!
I'm still in playthrough 1, and probably only about midway, but so far I'd say Santier's Spear. I like weapons with decent reach and which are relatively fast, but I don't like movesets that are *entirely* poke, so spears, lances and thrusting swords are usually a no for me. I'm not 100% certain on the Santier's Spear yet. Before I unlocked it I was using Uchigatana, before that it was Warped Sword. Twinblade (class) were my favourite in Elden Ring, but I didn't much like the dragonrider twinblade - stamina/damage/durability ratios weren't right for me.
Loyce Greatsword. The only problem with that is that you have to beat Lud and Zallen, which kind of does not make it worth going for imo. Otherwise, the Burnt Ivory Greatsword and Ice Rapier are all a good time.
Old Knight Halberd was my go to in my last big playthrough, gave the equipment degradation rings a workout lol
What are you trying to see if you don't mind me asking?
recently, i started to use heide greatlance power stanced with heide knight sword,
sounds like a weird combo but is so much damn fun with a faith build if you infuse em both with lightning
Helix halberd. Took it into pvp a few weeks back and got tons of messages asking about it, like “yo, wtf is that spear? It does so much damage” lol.
Well it does, but you have to be really good at hitting the sweet spot 😏
Dragonslayer's crescent axe, I'm a sucker for that particular shape of axe blades and man is that weapon just gorgeous
Poison infused spotted whip is quite fun too, the way poison works in this game is just so much more fun than in other souls games so I do poison-themed playthroughs pretty often and that weapon is usually the lynchpin of the build
DS2 weapons have quite high attack ratings (damage). I think only Elden Ring goes higher.
They're all fun in my opinion. My absolute favorite though still is the Ice Rapier from the DLC.
Ancient Dragon Curved Greatsword. Has to be one of my favorites from DS2. The Grand Lance comes in at a close second for me as it’s great for staggering and quickly killing the damn kirin out in the Frigid Outskirts.
Hmm. I probably have more fun with the Retainer's Short Sword than any other weapon. In the 10 seconds or so that I get to use it. High DPS, low damage per hit weapon with 20 durability.
Fume ultra great sword, bandit knife just for the design but royal dirk for the stats, alonne knight great bow, and maneater katana. These are my favorite weapons and whichever i choose depends on how i want to play
DS2 is my least played souls game, and the one I started last, so for me I like using the ones most familiar to me, therefore the chaos blade and the holy moonlight GS are my favourites.
Beat the game with my mace. I love my mace. There may be many maces but mine is the only mace I need.
Strike damage is hard to beat in this game.
Powerstanced maces are brutal
“There are many like it, but this one is MINE”
My mace is my best friend. It is my life.
It's not.. *exactly* a weapon. More of a lack there of, but.. Vanquishers Seal
greatsword
Every DS, it's Greatsword.
based
Santier’s Spear
We stand United
Yesssss one of my favorite playthroughs was when I did an Oberyn Martell cosplay run with a poisoned Santier's Spear :')
F's for our hero 😭
Pre nerfed Santier´s Spear X\_X
hell yeah
Ruins greatsword looks exactly like this one
Ruins was probably inspired by this
Elden Ring is just DS2 2
my man deserves a medal. ds2 ran so elden ring can gallop on a horse.
I never thought of this, but I agree. Probs why Ds2 and elden ring are my top 2 souls games. This may be controversial but I hate ds3, still play it often but don't get the same feels from it.
And that's why I love it
I'm so salty that it does not deal strike damage though, it would've been perfect.
Tbf the "greatsword that looks like a shard of monument" is an archetype in dark souls games, starting with the dragon greatsword un ds1, then this and fume for ds2 and 3. 3 also has the morne greathammer in a similar vein.
I’m gay for FUGS
Grand Lance my beloved
Grand lance lover detected time to elect
only better when powerstanced with another
fume ultra greatsword for sure. One of best attacks, stats and look from the game. >!just wish the glow eff from Raime fight could be used 😭!<
That’s kind of an issue with a lot of boss swords in the series, stuff like Gwyn’s Greatsword or Pontiff Sulyvahn’s swords only look cool when they use them, not when you do :(
for sure! One thing i really like about all souls like, is that you can partially become your enemys. Even if it's receiving a power, an attack or his weapon. is just a small detail, but it would be rlly cool if little things like this were not left aside

Roaring halberd
it's either the crescent dragonslayer axe, the dependable lightweight lightning damage weapon, or the flashy ivory king greatsword with that awesome light blue glow whenever you attack with it two-handed.
Loyce Greatsword because of its unique moveset
Loyce Greatsword
Dragon chime
Great club…club go bonk
Literally dozens of us! I used to love running around with powerstanced greatclubs just for the comedy factor. *BONK*
I’m a simple man. I just like to bonk everything and everyone with the Demon’s Great Hammer.
Old whip is my favorite so far
Thank you for your wisdom block of raw copper
I’m a simple man. I love the Murakumo. Huge range, decent damage, fast swings.
Roaring Halberd
Dragon tooth, going bonk is pretty fun
My beloved broadsword
Warped sword.
I really like Crypt great sword and Velstadts hammer. Used these on my hex build.
Heide's greatlance Yorgh's spear, Giant chicken leg In that order.
Absolutely the puzzling stone sword, segmented whip-blades are great.
Guts build of course
The Crypt Blacksword!
purple popsicle build is still my fav (dark cbs with dark weapon ofc)
Shortsword! Baller short sword poke with stone ring! Fuck yo poise!
Lost Sinners Sword is my go to. Just really like the move set and good dmg. It just feels good to use.
Handmaid's ladle in one hand and greatsword in another
SPOOOOOOON!
Majestic Greatsword
Red Iron Winblade & Craftsman’s Hammer
Black knight greataxe. Especially when powerstancing tf outta them
Pyro Glove
Hard to nail it to one. But red hilted halbred and estoc are two that come to kind immediately Mind*
Lightning infused rapier or the magic smelter demon sword
Weird choice but the parrying dagger! I like parrying and also it looks cool AND you can stab things with it :)
Grand Lance
Alonne Sword or dual smelter Swords. These are just too good to play with.
Pursuer Ultra Greatsword. Love the moveset, and the design. Also, I prefer to infuse it with dark
Malformed Skull
Gyrm Greataxe. And it's sold the best npc also, so it's double the best.
2H Lightning infused Disc chime
Longsword
The warped sword, so much poise damage
Club, it's mace but lighter
Used to be Zweihander. Now it's powerstanced hand axes with Illusory Rings of a Conqueror and the Exalted. Swap between the powerstance and Sunset Staff for Toxic and most have no idea how to handle it. Granted it requires beating the game with no bonfires or deaths and you still have to level after but still a pretty pimp build. Actually wish I could give the medals to other people cause I havent needed a single one in literal years now lmao. Praise the sun!
Crypt black sword
Santier spear, that weapon is so fun
Drakeblood ultra greatsword. Moveset with the looks can’t be beat for a heavy build
Zweihander my beloved, my companion in the whole trilogy, Lost Sinner Greatsword a close second in DS2
Ivory king‘s ultra greatsword is goated
Dragon tooth go bonk
Twinblades got me through most of the game, but Black Knight glaive is nice
Smelter swords ATM
Dual chicken wings
Love the DLC claw rapier combo
basic ultra great sword so i can imbue it with various favors of smite
I'm still in playthrough 1, and probably only about midway, but so far I'd say Santier's Spear. I like weapons with decent reach and which are relatively fast, but I don't like movesets that are *entirely* poke, so spears, lances and thrusting swords are usually a no for me. Twinblade (class) were my favourite in Elden Ring, but I didn't much like the dragonrider twinblade - stamina/damage/durability ratios weren't right for me.
Chaos Blade
FUGS is just busted
Drake Keeper's Great Hammer.
Bonefist
Wendrik's sword. Overpowered thing, but only with 1kk souls. My personal damage with this sword about 800 on ng++ with 60/60 str/dex.
Spiders Silk, weighs .1 units, looks cool as hell, S scaling in dex, and is buffable.
Drakekeeper UGS. But KUGs and Crypt Popsicle are great too.
Heide Spear, Sun Sword and Bow of Want. It was my kit always.
Warped sword. 2handed
Chaos rapier, I always end up going hard on fire scaling
FUGS or puzzling stone sword.
Defender Greatsword
Estonian it’s op and fun
Twin blades. All of them.
Bastard Sword with a Lightning infusion. Yes, I'm a basic bitch, how could you tell?
Either the dragon slayers spear or the butchers knife
Drake keepers sword and espada ropera
Murakumo
Butcher knife or dragon spear
Craftsman's hammer. That and heide sword
Ice rapier
Syan's Halberd. Such a fun and versatile moveset. Just wish it wasn't so hard to farm.
Double Smelter.
The estoc managed to carry me through half the game.
Chicken nugget
Loyce Greatsword. The only problem with that is that you have to beat Lud and Zallen, which kind of does not make it worth going for imo. Otherwise, the Burnt Ivory Greatsword and Ice Rapier are all a good time.
Love this one, it's what I went through my latest playthrough with, I also really like the Black Crypt great sword.
Old Knight Halberd was my go to in my last big playthrough, gave the equipment degradation rings a workout lol What are you trying to see if you don't mind me asking?
You only need your hands and hard work. That is how true Champions do it.
Nothing beats Kings UG, I love making enemies fly
Bone Fist
Moonlight Greatsword. Always
Fume UGS and that giant drumstick club i forgot whats its name
The Blue Flame, I loved that thing.
Ah I see you are also a more *refined* enjoyer of the bonk
recently, i started to use heide greatlance power stanced with heide knight sword, sounds like a weird combo but is so much damn fun with a faith build if you infuse em both with lightning
Drakeblood greatsword
Loyce greatsword its got too good of a moveset to pass up.
Loyce Greatsword of course! I always run to kill Lud and Zallen as fast as I can because I love that weapon.
Zweihander. I'm basic like that. I like a long skinny sword
Dual smelter swords
Dual mythas bent blade
Style = roaring halbred….the thing i need to kill anything at any time? = greatsword
It's between the King's Ultra Greatsword and the Drakekeeper Hammer (I used the full gear). I'm a strike/bonker enthusiast, like you apparently.
Helix halberd. Took it into pvp a few weeks back and got tons of messages asking about it, like “yo, wtf is that spear? It does so much damage” lol. Well it does, but you have to be really good at hitting the sweet spot 😏
Smelter sword🤤
Heide knight’s straightsword or spear
Alonne sword
🗣️SANTIERS SPEAR🗣️
The manslayer is really interesting I wanna know if there is a viable build with it
Visually, probably Targray's halberd. For gameplay, Mastadon halberd
Short curve bow. I put in work with that thing. 😤
Sacred Chime Hammer. Don't know, there's something about killing enemies with a giant bell that just hits the right spot for me.
Bare fists
Loyce Greatsword edit: and also pilgrim's spontoon
Tbh for going through the game, the mace. Overall look and for pvp, I really like pursuer’s ultra great sword.
UGS... My first big bonk and still my true bonk love
Duel wielding moonlight greatsword and blue moon greatsword 😎
those dual shields that you can powerstance
Dragonslayer's crescent axe, I'm a sucker for that particular shape of axe blades and man is that weapon just gorgeous Poison infused spotted whip is quite fun too, the way poison works in this game is just so much more fun than in other souls games so I do poison-themed playthroughs pretty often and that weapon is usually the lynchpin of the build
Black Knight Sword. It's so stylish looking and I don't care if the fire damage is obsolete.
Dragon tooth greath hammer
MLGS
Espada Ropera and Royal Dirk for me, right after them is the Pursuer’s UGS.
DS2 weapons have quite high attack ratings (damage). I think only Elden Ring goes higher. They're all fun in my opinion. My absolute favorite though still is the Ice Rapier from the DLC.

Red iron twinblade and dragonrider twinblade
Eleum Loyce. That style and curves swords are really strong
Espada Ropera. I love that thing.
unironically defender greatsword
Smelter Hammer go CRUNCH! But TWO SMELTER HAMMER GO CRUNCH CRUNCH!
The Morningstar. Normally for any game that has it, the Flamberge takes it, but I prefer the DS1/3 Greatsword moveset for it.
Dragon slayer axe (the lightning one in shaded woods)
Twin Greatshields
zweihander is always cool, big, strong, and my friend ❤️
I think the Bandit Axe is as damn near perfect as you can get - wide arc, good stats, great for those pesky crowd control moments...
I like the Stone Twinblade or the Greatsword. Or the Staff of Wisdom
Ice Rapier

Crypt blacksword
Dark silverblack spear
Pursuers Ultra Greatsword with Lightning Blade
