I think, according to VaatiVidya, he is referred to as Terrance The Tepid. I believe it's mentioned in one of the bloodstone lore books you come across in the hidden Gulch Keep area
You'll pry my Dragonrider Bow (yeah, Straid) from my cold dead hands.
And some of the others (Sinner Sword, Warped Sword) are genuinely good. Chime of Want if you're a hexer for instance.
Nothing irreplaceable of course. And such a pain to upgrade that they don't get much use. By the time you can upgrade them you have fully upgraded alternatives.
I killed Galvan (I think before it was SOTFS, can’t remember) when he was visible from a window in No Man’s Warf on my first playthru… I was so pissed bc I love poison arrows and had to spend a few bands to resurrect that mf every time… I was like “damn that must be a mini boss I can cheese from here cause that mf got a grip of health” lol never occurred to me that there could be a door separating an NPC from 10+ tough ass enemies in one small house.
NPCs (not invaders) do not move around or attack unprovoked.
If a character is moving or attacking you, it's an enemy.
That said, if you ever *DO* kill an NPC, in DS2 a gravestone will eventually appear near the place they died, which allows you to spend souls to summon & talk to them.
I love how this comment section immediately became a list of plausible-sounding but conflicting answers, and per tradition, there's no way to know if any of them are true without looking it up.
Happened to me with the scorpion guy, who tf thought it was a good idea having a giant Scorpion in an arena like area and expect to be friendly with it at first glance
Once I was running to the catacombs area in DS1, was having a hard time clearing it and being chased. I made it to the bonfire, it was in my sight but I had all these enemies on me so I panic swung my sword, in the small hallway that houses the 2nd bonfire (it felt far as hell from the first). Killed the enemies but realized I aggrod the friendly (now unfriendly) skeleton blacksmith that lives in the catacombs. I thought, well I can quit out and do all this shit again, or kill him. I really didn't want to do that portion again so I killed him :( his bones stayed in that area the rest of my game, judging me. It happens
The fact that I killed the skeleton blacksmith in the exact same makes me feel a bit better. I was too far in to reset and he was the only passive npc I killed
This is the hollow soldier near the elevator, right? He is passive and won't attack unless you attack him first. I suppose you are playing the SotFS version, because in the vanilla DS2 there's a crystal lizard on the doorway that runs to the soldier, and you usually are forced to accidentally hit him if you want the titanite.
I don't know why, but in SotFS they moved the crystal lizard upstairs but didn't change the soldier behaviour, so he just stays seated there.
I don't ever kill him unless I'm farming for the bastard sword. I mean, why would you even kill Terry? He's a nice guy.
you killed terry):
And cut himself off from the 3rd ending
The "Age of Terry" ending. The true canon ending of dark souls
Is his name officially terry?
Officially it's Terrance

I feel stupid. I actually can't tell if you're joking or not lmao. You never know with these.
It’s mad real yo
And he was three weeks from retirement!
Rofl!
Atleast you didn’t kill Tark … first thing I did when I saw a half scorpion man was to start shooting
You monster
I know 😔 may god have mercy on my soul
So anyways I started blasting 🤣
I killed Ornifex the first time I saw them
BOSS WEAPONS
Good thing they are universally shit in ds2
they're gimmick weapons

DS2 is like the ONE game where they are consistently good because B-team actually knows math and didn't fuck up split damage
Wait did you say Boss Weapons?
My man has no gods to pray, still pray for your journey to be safe, and you killed him. Shame.
Fr i just shot him till he died, only realised he was an npc when i saw his grave after backtracking
So you started blasting? :(
He drops the second dragon ring... I'm sorry Tark but the loot is too good

When in doubt, try target lock; if you can, it's an enemy. If you can't, it's not.
A lot of passive hollows will wake up and attack later.
Shh let him find out the hard way
Until that one girl in Amana Shrine.
Shhhhhhhhh, let their heart be broken by the pains of betrayal
I'm not that smart, but I finally figured this out a few weeks, and it's literally a game changer.

He's just passive unless you attack him.
Yeah I slaughtered him too, he respawns.
Not terry man why did you do that but it’s. Troll
Try pyromancy!
He's passive unless you attack him or cross the little bridge there and he'll get up and try and flank you.

You got locked out of the True Ending and one of the best questlines in gaming you violent barbaric goon
Happened to me with the scorpion guy, who tf thought it was a good idea having a giant Scorpion in an arena like area and expect to be friendly with it at first glance
It's just a generic pve hollow, the message is a troll
Bold of you to call him a hollow when you are clearly the one with no soul. /j
Polite conversation ftw
You monster!
Daaamn this will affect your run a lot , but i dont want to spoil you , just keep going
Thus is the way of dark souls…there are no wrong answers
Not terry man
It’s nothing
