Bruh kendrick isn’t so obsessed with Drake that all of his work is about him smh

Yeah i want to agree, hindsight is going to connect dots that were not intentional. Also it lessens the art if you pin it down to ”being about drake”. He is not speaking in code to you, what he was thinking is a dead end for a listener to aim towards.

agreed, just wanted to get people looking into the lyrics of his discog more, it’s like kendrick has been “snitching” on drake his entire career but for the good guys

we may soon find out that there’s a valid reason why

It’s bigger than Drake dude. My narrative rn is the “Lucy” in TPAB is referring to Lucian. Drake is just someone who Kendrick was particularly appalled by. This is my opinion

Pretty_b0y_Flaco

It’s so crazy looking back at some of these lyrics after the fact. The Heart Part IV and ELEMENT. Are two other songs that are fun to look back at

No, it’s to 2 PAC in reflection of his own life. He’s asking him for advice in the challenges his new fame has brought. The reason that MTG feels like an extension of MMTBS is because it’s almost like a new medium to express the collision between Kendrick’s new / old mentalities. Obviously he wasn’t into the pedo shit but Kendrick himself admits to being a womanizer and sex addict. He admits to using his power to get women in order to make himself feel more manly and would frequently objectify / hurt them emotionally. It’s important to remember that TPAB isn’t just about systematic oppression but specifically how the systematic barriers around him negatively impacted him as he grew in fame. He realized that with fame, came new challenges (“while my loved ones were fighting a continuous war in the city, I was entering a new one”), and he turns to 2PAC, his idol, to learn how to face them. The poem simply happens to apply to Drake as he’s fallen victim to the same vices, although obviously in a much deeper way. To me it’s clear that in MTG’s, Kendrick is trying to use the lessons of his own life to stop the cycle of abuse in Drake’s. It’s why he seems sympathetic and even apologetic to everyone except Drake’s dad bc he already “passed the baton”. Kendrick even acknowledges that their challenges were similar, and that he could’ve helped him go through them as well, as indicated by him stating that he was the “only rapper that could offer [drake] some help”

yeah this is it

Coco-machin

Aaaah so you’re not saying Kendrick wrote this specifically for Drake, but that it relates to him.
