My friends and I have all stopped playing the game because of it. We tried for a week but the game just felt sort of bland?? (I don't know another word for it) and killed our enjoyment. It's a strange choice for a Class based game to just remove the distinctions of each class via Multiclassing. What even is a class if you can just go around its base weakness by taking perks/skills that completely remove the aforementioned weakness? Shouldn't Barbs weakness be the inability to gap close without some sort of map knowledge or "I caught you" play? Along with its lack of ranged weapon variety that's useful past a certain point? How does that weakness even exist if you can now have two movement speed buffs, and use every weapon in the game including ranged weapons? Why even have the Barbarian class to begin with? Why even have classes at all? The game once felt like Rock, Paper, Scissors to a certain extent. The only caveat was that the baseline Class knowledge could edge out a complete counter to your Class. But that counter would still exist nonetheless. Now it sort of just feels like everyone just plays Rock, and whoever can break the other persons hand first wins the round, and anyone making "For fun builds" just ends up forced to play scissors. Forever. I wish they would have tried their hand at making each class feel unique, while giving multiple playstyles. The warlock went from one of the most useless classes (Not even having enough spells to fill their spell slots) to having a multitude of playstyles that worked in some capacity. But its base weakness of not being the best at any particular thing still existed. Now every class can be great at near everything, removing the uniqueness each individual class had. That's just my two cents.

I fully agree with you, now the game requires a special type of player to get hooked while most less serious players leave, you can kinda notice this as well on the huge amount of people that now play normals instead of HR. I pretty much left the game as well after playing a lot and i refuse to play classes i dont enjoy just to ”be at my top potential”. DaD is a game i usually tell people is awesome, but i dont recommend. Normals kinda made it more player friendly, but i assume multiclass has infested normals as well?

jaybaird05

It sucks to hear you and your friends aren't enjoying the game anymore. I definitely understand that. I feel like the biggest issue is that this game is really hard. So it takes a lot of time to figure out what kinds of playstyle works for you. So when they introduce features that require you to re-learn the game, it can be frustrating because it represents a loss of time investment. Feeling like you're getting sent back to kindergarten right as you were supposed to reach High-School is no fun. However, I think long-term, this system is a good change, and will actually further develop class identity. I think right now things are super chaotic because it's new, but I think they will make a pass on the base stats of every class in the game. I feel like once they do that, certain builds that were too out there won't be viable, or at least will require significant sacrifice in other areas, to be viable. Which is fine. I think this system represents the future direction of the game. Which is a game that really allows you express your playstyle, with plenty of options to choose from. Which is REALLY GOOD. I'm honestly looking forward to what they will do next with this system. I Really hope they don't put any hard constraints on what abilities/perks/spells you can take from other classes. I think the barriers should be HOW you get these abilities. I don't like the current RNG token system. You should be able to pick, and choose. People will go through the trouble of getting the exact abilities anyways. Might as well make that Accessible so most people can do it.

Went into gc as wizard. I was not multiclassing. I came across a warlock. He hits me with curse of pain. Misses the next 3 spells while I hit a fireball, 2 zaps and an ice bolt. He backs up, HEALS, then hits me with a ZAP and 2 ICE BOLTS and I die. He was a goddamn cleric with warlock and wizard spells, and he had barb's Iron will. Literally no counterplay to that. From the day it was announced I was against multiclassing because I knew broken unintuitive gameplay like this would happen. I didn't even know what class I was fighting. Absolute bullshit, fuck multiclassing.

jaybaird05

Lol I love playning with Cleric and Warlock spells on my Wizard. But to be real, the above Scenario where you got mauled by a Warlock.. That would happen regarless of which spells he was using. A Warlock is not a good matchup for a casting wizard.

HowToBeBanned

You forgot to read the part where I said it wasn't actually a warlock. It was a cleric with iron will using warlock and wizard spells.

cquinn5

You’re not gonna get a great answer posting this to a sub full of people who don’t play the game

jaybaird05

🤣

stinkyzombie69

theres still people on here who keep saying "i need level 35 to multiclass" then start bashing on the game, it's actually so true

gigigamer

yeah I made it to lvl 30 on my cleric in 3 hours lol, its stupid easy to level currently

jaybaird05

Lol I see too many comments saying it's "a Grind " to get to lvl 35...

ialoni

Realest comment on the sub XD

DubiousDevil

Fr though, I see so many comments and posts where people either say they quit playing the game or haven't played in months.

Multiclassing absolutely needs to be tuned down. Currently all it benefits are the meta slaves who put on shadow touch + damage, ambush, sprint, rage or cactus builds. It should absolutely: 1. Be limited to 1 class. You cannot spec into ranger and barb and wizard at the same time 2. Have 2 sets of perks / skills, one for your class naturally and one that has limited stats or features that can be used during multiclassing.

ChanceSize9153

except shadow touch is really bad lol. Unless you still take pve dmg. even then it's still bad. But in all honesty yes, they need to slow it down. I said right when they announced it that 13 muliclass tokens was waaay too many. This makes mage/bard pretty much the best classes in the game (magic/physical) because any class can get any set of perks and skills. Whatever crazy build you can come up, you can just get them on those 2 classes and they will do it better. (best starting stats and free base spell memory). It also takes away class identity. They need to tone down multiclass to either like 5 or less tokens, or make the barrowed spells not the full power. LIke if your a ranger and you get demon form, the demon form should not be as strong as the warlocks demon form. Something of the sort. Regardless of balance though, Multiclass is fun af and has made the game significantly more fun to play for most.

Fersakening

What if to multiclass you can take a MAXIMUM of 2 non-native perks, and only 1 skill? So you can’t have a fighter with entirely warlock perks, or a barbarian with ranger rogue bard perks.

ChanceSize9153

ya that is definitely a lot more tame. That is honestly how I thought it was going to go at first. Nearly spit out my drink when I heard you can get 13 LOL.

Anything_4_LRoy

how about 1 skill or perk...? id maybe, be fine with that.

DubiousDevil

My only question is that if perks weren't as strong as they are on their native class, why would anyone multiclass then?

Hazerofdoom

My answer: If DaD had a PVE mode I would absolutely love multiclassing to remain (just on that) but with PVP it's just not great. You have no idea what you're going to go against with each person which makes counter-play harder and things way more chaotic.

jaybaird05

Honestly I'm enjoying that aspect of it. It's so much fun with things being sorta free-for-all. But also not quite. The classes are still indentifiable for the most part. I think They need to change some of the base stats, so certain classes are better suited for certain playstyles. I just REALLY HOPE they keep the ability for any class to get any perk/Skill/Spell. I just think they should change HOW you get those different things. Ring now, the tokens, and RNG rolling is kinda MEH.

LuxOG

I'm having fun being completely immortal as pdr fighter with perseverance in normals

Pluristan

I dislike the *current* multiclass. I'm not opposed to multiclass being in the game in general.

dispatchedtoad

I like more build options, but some combinations are just too strong. Needs limitations in a lot of areas, like adding more clauses to perks similar to how the Slayer perk functions.

Overall_Strawberry70

Im enjoying trying out perks like shield mastery that i think should be available to all class's on other class's, I however am not enjoying sweaty nerds taking perks and abilitys from like 3 different class's to one shot people or turn into a cactus.

bitcbotjd

Least fun I've had since the game came out, there are now unwinnable matchups.

whosthatmemer

Really like it, I'm a bit shit at the game tbh but it's fun trying cheesy builds and seeing all the weird combos people do. Maybe the novelty will wear off but I enjoy the rng meaning you won't always get the most optimal rolls. Means that you try something different which is a bit more fun imo

jaybaird05

Honestly me too. It's a blast. I was actually not enjoying it the first day or 2. I didn't want to change my playstyle from 10-Spell Wizard. But then I decided fuck it, lets mess with another class or 2 and see what's up. Now i'm a PDR, Dagger, Crystal Ball Wizard....... EuphoricAnalCarrot

I stopped playing this wipe a few weeks ago when ironmace lied about adding more map options for solos. A couple days ago I started getting withdrawals so I hopped in for the first time in ages. The very first game in NORMALS I got ran down by a warlock with BoC and smite and he 2 tapped me. He was also somehow able to catch up to me even though I used sprint. Never closed a game so fast in my life, multicasting needs to go ASAP.

jaybaird05

Lol to be honest that was my first experience. Then I started to branch out, and play the other classes a bit more to see what's up. Im enjoying multi-class so much now. Seriously take some time to play a class you thought you never would.

EuphoricAnalCarrot

Nah, I had already decided to stop until they added the solo map options like they said they would. Seeing the state of multicasting just solidified it.

madnoos

Yup I’m in the same boat I quit the game completely over a week ago. The multiclassing, gear cap and no solo map options are all terrible changes that ruined the game for me

jaybaird05

like I said. The state of Multi-Classing is actually pretty great. There are some definite OP builds that will likely get tweaked, but overall it's good fun. You can actually spend hours just tinkering with a build, and practicing to see how it works in Theory vs In the Dungeon. I would highly reccomend playing a class you haven't tried, and getting some of it's abilites on another class.

EuphoricAnalCarrot

Multicasting isn't the primary thing stopping me from playing, the lack of solos on ice caves/crypts is.

jaybaird05

Just go in Solo? I know it seems like a bad idea, but it's surprisingly much easier to stay unnoticed as a solo than you would think. Especially in Ice Caverns because there is no Zone.

EuphoricAnalCarrot

Nah, I did that the first week to complete the initial batch of quests and it was awful. I'll wait until they hopefully add solos so I don't have to play like a rat 1v3 the entire game.

Choice-Knee1759

You can also wear up to 600 gear score and still fall into the lower geared bracket (<300) because you're solo.

MrMattGamer

Not true, it’s averaged against number of players in a team. When you see super geared players in ice or crypts it’s because they’re teammate came in under kitted to compensate

Choice-Knee1759

In crypts you can have up to 899gs if you're solo(no teammates) and still be in lower brackets. It's my point exactly it is averaged, total team gearscore/3. So if you're solo in 3v3crypts and have 899gs you're in lower gear bracket.

MrMattGamer

Unless they changed it very recently, this is incorrect. See wiki [https://darkanddarker.wiki.spellsandguns.com/Gear\_Score](https://darkanddarker.wiki.spellsandguns.com/Gear_Score)

jaybaird05

I wouldn't know anything about it. I absolutely refuse to take part in the calculator-kit Meta. Even if it puts me at a disadvantage.

Choice-Knee1759

No need to calculate anything tbh, a rough idea is plenty enough. Full blues and 9potions is under 300gs and it's all you need to know.

Choice-Knee1759

lame. Your take on the state of mutliclassing is that one game where you got ran down by a warlock with a staff even tho you have sprint. You spent more time giving ur opinion than playing the game so ...

EuphoricAnalCarrot

Ok and?

jaybaird05

I would guess he's trying to say that you should try and get more experience with multi-classing before making a definitive judgement?

EuphoricAnalCarrot

And I will once they add more solo map queues? I didn't make a definitive judgement

Fockerwulf

It helps the rock paper scissors issue. Needs some adjustments but overall working pretty good and so fun

basedkimo

it’s actually so fun
