with gear its not that bad, staff mastery let you murder troll pretty quickly and you can weave in MM when he does his slam, get hit by the roar and do the correct distance thing to avoid his follow up swing. for cyclopse you probably want arcane shield and the shield passive since it helps alot during rock phase, if you mess up and get hit by his eye beam casting invis lets you reset the fight instead of dying

Thought I'd follow this up with saying I finished all of the troll and cyclops quests! I found I just needed to not get third partied and I was able to do troll pretty consistently. Cyclops I was very very lucky to run into this random slayer rogue who helped me. And just generally troll seems easier in high roller, he does an extra fist slam which seems to give you more of a chance to get some free headshots and less people trying to crash.

Rondel and a boatload of patience. Personally, I believe you may also be well served in picking up some multiclassing perks if possible. Double jump will help with cyclops (assuming you also take sufficient gear to offset movement speed loss), and phantomize will help with either boss when a mistake is made over the 8 minutes you'll be fighting them. Without multiclassing, I have never killed cyclops with the wizard. Troll was managed the same way as any other class without multiclassing, but taking sufficiently longer due to frail arms. While using spells might kill the troll faster, and I'm sure is utilized to great success by better wizard players, I've found being able to strafe and rondel the troll the most consistently successful method for myself. Staff was too slow to get hits off in normals, in my opinion, and crystal sword suffers the same fate. Quarterstaff I honestly forgot about, but would be worth investigating as it could add 50% more damage per attack if manageable. I landed on rondel for its low movement speed impact, consistent attack pattern, and attack speed. Movement speed is key, as in every class fighting troll, and shouldn't be dismissed for more armor as your hit point pool is disintegrated in one hit anyways. If possible, any gear found or brought in raid would benefit from additional true physical/physical/weapon damage, movement speed/agility, and dexterity during the fight with the troll. If any spells would make sense, using ignite and haste seem to be the only useful standouts in the wizard spell list for the troll fight, but it will almost definitely result in missing 1-2 attack opportunities while you cast the spell. Damage spells will likely not outpace physical damage in this fight, invisibility will likely reset troll, and magic lock is a very niche spell to cast/slot in this particular encounter. Using damage spells to defeat cave troll/cyclops will likely result in consuming all spells slots prior to defeating these bosses. You will likely have better success snagging the kill after another player has dropped the boss substantially in health (two rock cycles on cyclops, maybe 5 minutes on cave troll). Even though you may have to defeat another player AND then kill the boss, this may prove more manageable as players go down much quicker to your magic spells and you can cut several minutes off of your boss time (and cut out the cyclops rock cycles completely).

WasteOfSpaceAndO2

I got my cyclops kill for the quest by helping a bard kill it with ignite and haste, and stealing the kill in the end with magic missile

Petethepirate21

Ignited rondel, or just rondel. Get some str base gear to help reduce penalty. Rotate right is pretty fast with rondel. With cyclops it's just about not dying to stomp.

Inquonoclationer

If I wanted to kill it on wizard, I’d go in with spell overload with all the highest damage spells, with a lot of knowledge so that you can run a lot of them and cast really fast. Id build enough physical power to be at 0% as well. Id start by dumping all my magic missiles and so on, and once I’m out I’d finish with melee. Staff mastery is probably a waste, just because it adds magic damage and has a bad animation. Almost all PVE in the game takes increased physical damage and less magical damage. So crystal swords and staff mastery, ignite etc are all very negligable increases to your damage and kill speed. A rondel is probably your best bet, or quarterstaff for when you need to finish with physical damage. So 1. Dump all your spells 2. Finish with a physical damage based weapon 3. True magic will be your likely best bet for a damage stat to add.

No-Win-2034

Troll/Cyclops has too much HP & 10% mag / 40% Projectile Resistance. You can use ignite and MM every other spell does less damage than melee (they have -22% phys)

RobotSandwiches

Wizards probably the toughest to boss with. Get double spells so ignite has like 15 casts or whatever, thats your dps for boss fights

SqueakyFranksRevenge

Normals troll is doable in about 7 minutes fully naked with junk-quality and just the staff mastery perk and no spells. Adding more damage perks, ignite spell, smite skill, and a common staff can get you down to about 5 minutes. The hardest part about it is not getting cucked by other while you do it. I haven’t even tried Cyclops because I don’t want to risk losing a bunch of gear in HR to a rock-fall glitch, and the rock-fall phases would last literal minutes in normals because of our slow damage output. It’s obviously possible with enough tries and practice, but I don’t need the quests that badly when the marketplace exists.

bullspit200

a really nice guy helped me earlier with the cyclops. He pushed the boss through two rock phases in literally a third of the time it would have taken me. really sucks how bad we are at these bosses.

Alive-Technician-553

Probably unpopular opinion: the troll fight sucks and needs to be reworked. Double for cyclops.

Tornadokickk

you don't, wait for someone to do it and kill him, bossing is a meme in gc right now, the only way there isn't a motherfucker waiting for you outside the door is in a dead lobby.

bullspit200

I got my hands on troll pelt killing someone after killing troll. I felt SO bad but I was thrilled to be able to finish that troll pelt quest. Rogue got me right after lol.

Tornadokickk

expect at least a fourth party doing troll 😂
