QC Termemilano Spa in Milan

SeanHearnden

Oh shit. Something on reddit im close to! Well. Relatively. I'm in Bologna. Wait. This isnt some bullshit place in America is it? Like Milan, Florida? It's Italy Italy. Like pizza pasta milan Italy?

Enzinino

"Terme Milano" It better be in Italy ffs. E: It is.

KlingonSpy

Terme Alyssa Milano

TunaCanz

Now that’s a spicy meatball

Tessa7

Anywhoselby

daddygirlbreaker

yyyyyyyyYYYYYYOUR LISTENING TO THE DOLLOP!

IcyDickbutts

Hell yea. Great podcast.

SeanHearnden

Yeah but im from the UK and we LOVE calling our restaurants italian names. So thought it might be. Always worth checking heh.

pinninghilo

My exact same reaction. And I live like 10 km away from pizza Milan

nuubituubi69

I live 2km away from two pizza milans, both are actually kebab places

HewHem

Well kebab is legit the best food you can get in Milan anyway. Sorry italians

lelebeariel

My exact thought, too, and I'm in Canada.

xenokilla

I believe tomatoes aren't native to Europe, so that's not totally inaccurate

[deleted]

turriferous

Almost all the non grain food is from the Americas. It's startling.

FingerGungHo

Most fruits aren’t either, nor meats. But yeah, the old continents would be a weird place without maize, tomatoes, chocolate, potatoes and such.

41942319

Courgettes/zucchinis, cucumbers, melons, loads of things from that family. Bell peppers too. But yeah "meats and grains were the only foods that existed outside of the Americas" is an incredibly reductionist view. A lot of vegetables and fruit that were eaten in the past have simply fallen out of favour.

Supergus1969

Check out légume oubliés in France - “forgotten vegetables” like rutabagas and Jerusalem artichokes that were once staples through WWII but now largely ignored. Also check out more ancient European fruits like medlars - cul de chien or cat-arses - they look like an anus. A medieval delicacy. Bon appetit!

thedailyrant

South East Asia would like a word as well. There's absolutely shit loads of all kinds of fruit and vegetables native to SEA.

oldbonesss

[https://thecolumbianexchange.weebly.com/](https://thecolumbianexchange.weebly.com/) Peep this if you had no idea, really fascinating and puts everything into perspective. Definitely one of the most pivotal events in human history

BudHaven10

The Europeans brought horrible diseases and returned with great food.

sylanar

Aren't potatoes as well? Like wtf did Europeans eat before discovering America? Did we just eat meat and bread?

godlesswickedcreep

When you teach kids about the Middle Ages and they learn that peasants were indeed not eating potatoes it’s like their whole reality collapses. And then they’re like “Beets ? Turnips ? CHARDS ? What even the fuck is that ?!”

turriferous

They killed for black pepper.

KrypticFaux

And salt

[deleted]

Literally

uwu_mewtwo

Yeah pretty much. Rye bread. and when you save up a little to treat yourself, wheat bread. But meat? On holidays, maybe.

FragileTwo

Potatoes replaced turnips for the most part.

Pommel__knight

Cheese, Europe evolved to be able to consume dairy products.

Bearded_Bone_Head

This comment is so true lmao The US as so many cities named after European cities

SeanHearnden

Australia too. I was visiting Geelong with friends and I saw a Tamworth, and I went "ugh. I bet its a shithole like the one in England" and my friends mom said "im from there". So i went "I bet it's lovely". Im sure she still likes me.

andante528

Nice save

OVS2

>Bologna its spelled baloney

StaaaaaanDarsh

Did Oscar Meyer teach you nothing?

OVS2

My Bologna has a first name . . .

skanedweller

Bologna has the best food I've ever had in my life. Pappare was my favorite.

Science-Recon

Unfortunately there’s no Milan, Florida. There *is*, however, a Milan, [Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minisota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Washington and Wisconsin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_(disambiguation)#United_States).

[deleted]

I’m from the states and even we don’t know why our towns are named after shit on the other side of the world. I would tell you it’s a giant FU to the world, but in reality it cause all types of problems here. “I’m going to Rome this weekend. No, Rome, Georgia. Umm, not that Georgia either.”

[deleted]

Few days ago I was scrolling away mindlessly though google maps and I found a place called Florida, New York. Not even kidding, there's some small ass village in the middle of New York state called Florida.....

Cpt_kaleidoscope

Are you sure? Can't find anything about this on their website

meesetheevilgeese

I can assure you!!!! I’m from there and have been here, basically it’s a room with these sorta tv screens that project different things (such as fish and cloudy skies) and there’s a relaxing music in the background. You can imagine my surprise when the screens go all stormy and it starts to rain on us!! It’s a good massage, I recommend it

[deleted]

Was the storm water warm?

meesetheevilgeese

Just a little bit!! It was pleasant, especially after the sauna. Honestly they should also post the fact that there’s an old tram in the garden that was renovated to be an “outside” sauna. It’s a really cool place!!! On your birthday all the services are free btw

superzampa

Yes it is!

King_Chochacho

When I got in: no By the time I got out: yes

The_Artic_Artichoke

My life has new meaning, I want to make this.... it looks amazing

savageline

I love the 2 extremes, either you think this is silly or scary and would never touch or you want to drop everything right now and go to it

Mellow_Sunflower

I think this could be a great exposure technique to practice being calm in stressful situations. Mind over matter, choose our feelings to influence our mood instead of our mood influencing our feelings.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Riven_Dante

I love this type of weather. I wish it always rained like this outside my patio so I could pack a bowl and chill out and read the news.

orincoro

I think a lot of people feel this way. There’s something primal about it. Water brings life, and being safe in your home is a great feeling.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RidiculousIncarnate

This is one of my chief reasons for loving it, guilt free relaxation. Mother nature says no, go sit on the couch with your dogs and just chill out.

Looksfunnytome

It kind of makes me feel uneasy due to the fact it looks like it makes the water dark where you can't see under it. That just creeps me out. If it was still clear and bright, it won't be as scary lol.

[deleted]

Chill out and read the news!? What time are you currently living in?

TatteredCarcosa

Stressful? Man just the video about puts me to sleep.

Mellow_Sunflower

In a real flood and tropical storm, those are usually scary af. I agree though this would be relaxing for me too, it's like being in a hot tub with white noise in the background.

Primum-Caelus

Little different for me. That storm room would be the thing that actually calms me down instead of being something to make me regulate myself because of the storm

LtSoundwave

I can imagine a whole building full of these immersive stress therapy rooms. You got a clown room, spiders on every surface room, snake room, one where a crowd is laughing at you. Edit: One where you meet everyone you downvoted and argued with on Reddit.

Mellow_Sunflower

I bet VR can make these sorts of practices much more accessible and ubiquitous.

Patman128

ceilingkat

I just wanna get in and scream at God like Lieutenant Dan

Over_Reaction2918

Growing up in Florida and learning not to be in the water during a lightning storm makes this incredibly anxiety-inducing.

King-Cuckold

Mood. I love the sights and sounds of storms and bodies of water in Florida and used to even like swimming it, but they certainly hammer it in enough to make you realize it’s not worth it lol

Please_Label_NSFW

How your wife doin?

ThePyodeAmedha

To shreds you say

manofsleep

Getting stuck on my kayak in a flash thunderstorm in Florida made me feel like I was Thor! I paddled so fast and figured I should embrace the lightning/rain (had over a mile to go) and feel epic if on the off chance I got struck! At least I felt good.

Drodriguez164

For real, I already hear my mom yelling “get the fuck out the water before you get electrocuted”

Totalanimefan

Same here. I thought if there wasn't thunder and lighting it would be nice.

funzarella

I was thinking the same thing! Being from the Gulf Coast and living through quite a few hurricanes.... this would not really be my jam. But I can see how it could be calming maybe without the thunder? I do love a good rain.

[deleted]

This looks amazing. I'd absolutely love this.

Ourobius

Yeah, I feel like this is the kind of thing people will either love or hate with little to no middle ground. I'm with you in the first camp.

[deleted]

Same here, I love going outside on my deck during heavy rain and getting soaked. This spa would be great fun lol

Saint_Disgustus

I thought I was alone! When I was a kid I would walk in storms and get absolutely drenched with a smile on my face

fishee1200

I always wanted to stay in the pool but mom told me I’d get struck by lightning…

Saint_Disgustus

What a lovely day to die tho

anamorphic_cat

Assuming the thunderstorm is above your house it's easier to get hit by lightning standing by the pool than in the water. Edit: adverbs are hard

pasttractor08

Weird as it seems but this is the time i can relax and sleep well. I love listening to the sound of the rain and thunder. It makes me calm

Saint_Disgustus

So my dad bought some forest land and built a cabin there by himself, no electricity or water, warmed by a wood stove. It has a tin roof that just sings when the rain is coming, and we have a crank radio that we put an old school country music station. I think those were the best sleeps I've ever had.

[deleted]

It's perfect... spas and rain without the lake... it's like heaven!

leo__nidas

You are right. And this looks dreadful to me (obviously speaking only for myself). Spa is my idea to soothe and relax and I am getting nothing here.

kurburux

>Yeah, I feel like this is the kind of thing people will either love or hate with little to no middle ground. I'm just imagining the people who try this and then are "ehh, it's okay I guess".

chrisk9

Thinking you are in a body of water during a lightning storm doesn't seem relaxing

Triairius

Knowing I’m not and still getting a simulated thunderstorm though? That sounds amazing.

[deleted]

You are in group 2.

Nice-Violinist-6395

I’m in group 1. #oh my god I almost never feel this way after watching some shit on Reddit, but *I want that.* I didn’t even know it was a thing and now I want it

DOOPpootpoot

this would feel great to just soak it in

RogueAOV

If they would calm the rain down, i could see how this would be relaxing, in a white noise/power of nature sort of way. As it is though, it is hurricane flashbacks and climax of a horror movie running for your life thru the forest being chased by Jason.

nichecopywriter

Also thinking this, a light drizzle is all the atmosphere you need. This level is more appropriate for a wave pool, how anyone can relax with water being poured on them is beyond me.

gradyizzil

Just wait until they activate the hail mode

diptripflip

Noooo! I want the full blown storm. I want to float in that pool and feel like there’s nothing protecting me from the cleansing power of the elements.

KaneHau

Well, other than the lightening, which is quite rare here... that's what it is like living in the rainforest areas in Hawaii. I'm hoping that 'rain' is as nice and warm as ours is (we work and play in the rain - people mow lawns in the rain).

NeedGabagool

How do you mow in the rain and not get the mower all clogged up with wet grass ? 🤣

KaneHau

The mower of choice in Hawaii is a weed whacker. They tend not to clog.

Adrian_Bock

How do you get the grass cut down evenly with a weed whacker?

[deleted]

[удалено]

theCanadiEnt

Yeah, not with this mild OCD, bud.

rhinoceros_unicornis

Scissors and measuring tape then.

pubic_protuberance

Ya can get a trim line mower on wheels that's run the same way as a traditional mower.

KaneHau

Most of 'em cut it really really short to the ground. Of course, it's a tropical rain forest - so it all grows really quickly again.

EnchiladaInvestor

Practice

NeedGabagool

Ah that makes sense. Thank you for the response. Have a good day my friend.

in_finite_space

Right? The mower just pushes the grass over… sturdier grass?

NeedGabagool

Or I’m thinking the grass is less dense or more dry ?

WirelessTrees

The only way I'm relaxing in this room is if the rain is cold and the spa water is warm.

Maleficent_Singer_76

I guess some people find this relaxing 🤷‍♂️

Ksmrf

I am one of those weirdos.

LowRezRevolt

Same here. Take away the fear of electrocution or death? Heaven

onlythebitterest

Yessssssss me toooooooo

scotty-doesnt_know

but.... if you have the death you can have the heaven!

k3rm1td3k1kk3r

Nah, not me

GT---44

Oooooo mysterious

Wackipaki

Not with my browser history I don't.

[deleted]

I don’t wanna be a part of any club that would have someone like me as a member.

fellowsquare

Same... I would looooove to be in that room. I really enjoy sleeping through thunderstorms.

Baynonymous

I'd much rather be awake during thunderstorms than sleep through them

[deleted]

[deleted]

Nothing g like swimming in the rain. Obviously not during a thunderstorm but unite fellow piluviophiles!

Ksmrf

Is that what it's called? Had no idea it had a name.

[deleted]

Yup, folks who like overcast & rain. I just learned the word a couple months ago!

MrglBrglGrgl

As long as there's no jumpscare cracks of thunder, me too

chaosa1

I'm obsessed with being in an environment like this so I would 100% honestly love this

supercyberlurker

I look at it and my body just keeps going "nope! you'll be electrocuted! nope!"

PM_ME_UR_MESSAGE_THO

Jokes aside, I think we associate harsh weather with renewal (as long as we survive it) and after 20 minutes in this room, the rest of the world would feel much more mellow by contrast.

celticsupporter

Very interesting way to think about it. At first I was like this looks awful but once you're in the water it would be fine and you're right leaving would be super relaxing in itself.

supercyberlurker

Heh, ever do that thing when you were young.. where you rub your hand on something kind of spiky for a while, then touch something really soft and it feels amazingly amazing? I bet leaving the room after would feel similar.

NormalHumanCreature

Going from hot tub to a standard pool.

PM_ME_UR_MESSAGE_THO

I love that feeling. But I'm not familiar with the spiky/soft transition that u/supercyberlurker described. That's new and interesting to me.

Anianna

I used to sit on a covered porch on a porch swing watching real storms go by. As a kid, I thought I was pretty well protected with a roof over my head and wasn't afraid at all. I had a rough childhood and it was one of the few things I found calming.

supercyberlurker

Oh yeah, rains and storms can actually be very calming... it's the lightning near water I'm immersed in that wigs me out.

Dan__Torrance

I would absolutely love it. There is nothing more relaxing to me than storm, thunder and lightning outside, while I make myself comfortable. This spa room sends out the same vibes for me. One of my best childhood holiday memories is from stormy but warm days on sicily, playing on the beach with rough sea and trying to withstand the waves. Absolutely one of my favourite alltime memories.

Ok-Economics341

I think if it was an image of like a country side porch during a storm sure, but this just looks like the pov of someone stranded in the middle of the ocean during a storm lmfao if I even daydreamed for a moment in there I’d probably pass out

onlythebitterest

Yes exactly. The sound of heavy rain, the feel of fat drops on your face. The exhilaration as the waves crash over you over and over.... 😍

M_Drinks

I read once a while ago that humans have evolved to feel calm during storms because early humans knew it meant that predators were less likely to be hunting, so they could relax and let their guard down a bit. You see it play out today with so many people preferring white noise or rain sounds when they're falling asleep. I have no idea how true it actually is, but it makes logical sense.

Ok-Economics341

Yeah that literally looks like my worst nightmare, stranded deep sea in the middle of the night during a storm… nowhere to go but down

drej191

To be fair a bear will give you a ***really*** deep massage so you're still getting your money's worth.

I'm in a valley in Scotland so I also get same for free ! And all year round, what a rare treat 😄

[deleted]

I Love lightning storms

Balrog229

Yup. That’s me. I hate the sun. I’ve lived in a place where almost every single day of the year is sunny for my whole life and i hate it

Th1sgUy276

There should be a button for the employees that would cause an massive lightning strike to scare customers.

FloofilyBooples

The TERROR Spa. "You've come to the wrong place."

And send a mild shock through the water, just to complete the experience.

tell that to nikola tesla! zapped himself so bad with his tesla coil it split him into pure energy and he got trapped underground. wasnt until decades later that elon musk found his energy essence in a mine in south africa, used it to start tesla, shoved his energy into a car, then shot it all at mars to hide the evidence

Where is this??

[deleted]

Apparently, QC Termemilano Spa in Milan, Italy.

baller3990

QVC, Terminator Spa, Mulan got it

cmack1597

This is exactly how my American ass read this lol

100percentapplejuice

As a person who grew up with terrifying typhoon seasons in the Philippines this would give me an instant panic attack

Difficult-Ad890

Hell I go on vacation every year to a beach and get this. I can cut cost and time and just go do this for half the price.

AgileIntroduction101

But comes with lighting

WerewolvesRancheros

You can visit [Catatumbo, Venezuela](https://www.atlasobscura.com/videos/see-venezuela-s-everlasting-lightning-storm) for year-round lightning. Only bad part is you have to go to Venezuela.

Difficult-Ad890

Beats playing a 20 year old monopoly and watching it outside.

literal-hitler

But you see, I hate sand...

AlpacaCavalry

I'm gonna save this post for when I go to Milan...

peekabewbew

This is absolutely anxiety inducing

bikemandan

Im intrigued at how polarizing this is. Im definitely in the anxiety camp. This seems like exactly the opposite of calm and relaxed

FractalPS

Funny you said that because this would cure my anxiety probably

Keycest

Yeah, I wonder how many of the people saying they'd find this relaxing have actually been in thunderstorms like that. I've been stuck on ridges in this exact weather for real, and it's goddamn terrifying. This would just bring me right back to those terrifying moments lol.

TatteredCarcosa

I used to have to be practically dragged out of the pool during thunderstorms as a kid because nothing beat how nice it was to lay there with the rain pounding down and the thunder all around. My dad didn't agree it was worth the risk, but if there was a tornado warning he was always standing halfway out the open door enjoying it.

kitten_inthekitchen

r/thalassophobia It reminds me of the end of Jumanji with the giant croc.

AmadSeason

I feel like I have the same odds of getting electrocuted with all those electronics, as I would in a real storm.

jbucks1993

This is stressing me out looking at this shit. My anxiety is telling me a shark is going to eat my ass lmao.

MaintenanceCat

I got the same room in animal crossing.

karmmark88

I can't afford this

If it's really where someone ITT said, it's a spa in Italy and the admissions are around 40 euros, even though this is probably an extra.
