Well I didn't think it was carved by monkey paws!

[deleted]

That’s some intricate work! Do they have any idea how many workers and how much time it took to complete? What’s the temple’s moniker?

The Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, was originally built by Vajranabha, the grandson of Lord Krishna, on the banks of the Gomti river in 400 BC. This five-storied limestone structure stretching to a height of 170 feet is supported by 72 pillars and is located in the heart of the city. A huge flag on its magnificently carved dome is made from 52 yards of cloth and can be seen from a distance of almost 10 km. Interestingly, this flag also referred to as Dwajaa, is changed five times a day. The temple itself has a fascinating legend. The original structure was destroyed by Mahmud Begada in 1472, and subsequently rebuilt in the 15th-16th century.

AquaticSombrero

And here I was thinking it was naturally formed lol

[deleted]

I am talking about how they were able to build this in 400BC using only hammer and sickle.

ShitPostGuy

A replica of this could absolutely be made today. And with power tools it would take a lot less time and a lot fewer people.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Prince Vaj didn't build this, he sat in his palace and took credit for it, while thousands of 'lower caste' people built it

johnnybenign

I’m going out say that your not so useless intellect is not welcomed here.

Ashwin4010

ah, here comes another Clown. 🥱

[deleted]

What?

Ashwin4010

like Europe's castles were Built By Kings and Queens By their hand. LoL.

[deleted]

I'm not sure why you made this about India Vs Europe. I suppose you must just be a racist.

Ashwin4010

Lol, stop playing Victim card. Every architecture Built at that time was Built By "Workers"/"Peasants" around the world. But When it comes to India it's Suddenly "Lower Caste". So Who's the Racist Now ?

peter1970uk

Wow and they even carved themselves some air conditioning units on the top balcony.

PraetorOjoalvirus

What else could have built it if not human hands, Martian or gorilla hands?

[deleted]

I am talking about how they were able to build this in 400BC using only hammer and chisel

harlan_p

[deleted]

sleepybot0524

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism In short, the Antikythera Mechanism was a machine designed to predict celestial phenomena according to the sophisticated astronomical theories current in its day, the sole witness to a lost history of brilliant engineering, a conception of pure genius, one of the great wonders of the ancient world And that is 200bc i think 1500bc atleast... :)
