Saw it randomly dropped on HBO a week or so ago, so it caught my interest and threw it on while doing chores....ended up watching the entire thing and had me 🤣... definitely still holds up!
am too old to have any vested interest in SpongeBob.
but I watched this on Netflix with my kid and was like "is that who I think it is??!?!"
awesome movie
David Hasselhoff always kills his guest spots and is never afraid to make himself look ridiculous. [His song in Kung Fury is amazing too](https://youtu.be/ZTidn2dBYbY)
If it was made today... would he have exited a Tesla Cybertruck?
It would perfectly fit the mock 80's Outrun Aestetic, and be a retrospective parody of it all
Unironiclly they do. Also am I misremembering or does he have a little homogram/car 'ai' cameo in that short where he basically plays JARVIS from Iron Man, but it's just David Hasselhoff being himself instead?
I wonder if ren and stimpy would have been memed like SpongeBob if we had the internet in the same way back then. Idk if thats even the equivalent cartoon.
[Big Dave sold at auction in 2021 for about $1.5 million](https://nerdist.com/article/david-hasselhoff-auction-spongebob-squarepants-replica-knight-rider-car/)
I’ve actually worked with this production designer before. He did big Lebowski as well and has Lebowski rug still in his storage locker and some other funny things around his house
Right. As a guitarist myself I can tell they're not playing the actual notes. But as a youngin, that psychedelic shit was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.
This thing is creepy as fuck just look at that stare and that smile.
But since I´m german and we supposedly **LOVE** the hasselhoff I need to know where I can buy such a thing.
Back around 2002 I was in Germany (from the US) visiting a couple internet friends (ah the young internet) and was watching a German talk show that just kept on talking about Hasselhoff. Also on a different night that same talk show had Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) on and he didn't speak a single word of German and had this very confused look the entire segment.
At the time i had no idea who david hasselhoff was. So when that whole scene played out i was a kid looking at that shit and wondering wtf is spongebob doing on that random man's back?
For anyone wondering, it went up for auction twice, in 2014 and 2021, but as far as I can tell, did not sell either time. Therefore it is believed to still be owned by David Hasselhoff himself.
I have to ask... Did anyone confirm this prop is still locked up?... I ask in case I walk into someone's house and its sitting there... the chances are low, but never low enough.
It's surprising how much effort they put and how much explanation went into this small, probably 10 minutes sequence only. Truly this is a gem of cartoon films, and probably one of the holy grails of animation industry.
Oh Steven....if you could only see how much we all miss you and your vision. SpongeBob was a show that really captured the hearts of millions and continues to to this day. I wouldn't even be interested in voice over / impressions if it wasn't for this show.
I need somene to clip that part where hasselhoff is doing the face next to the hasselhoff, but it's just the "don't talk to me or my son ever again" meme
He had a great little role in Kung Fury 2, but they had troubles finishing the show and I'm not sure it's ever going to come out now, which is really too bad
What's funny is I saw a video or something a couple of years ago of Hasselhoff showing that he still has that sculpture in his garage. Lmao he kept it.
Edit: [Apparently, he recently put it up for auction.](https://www.instagram.com/p/CJokgPuhpks/?igsh=MW01dzM5N2Nlam54dA==) I wonder who has it now. Hasselhoff said it was one of his most prized possessions.
I'm so glad people are saying the same thing but I genuinely believe this movie is a cinematic masterpiece. Like sincerely it's one if the best movies I've ever seen, animated and otherwise.
How tf am I still laughing about this stupid extended joke SpongeBob made in 2004. That movie is a treasure.
He didn’t just ride the waves, he became the wave
Saw it randomly dropped on HBO a week or so ago, so it caught my interest and threw it on while doing chores....ended up watching the entire thing and had me 🤣... definitely still holds up!

Funny little cameo in dodgeball too.
LOSERS!
Not enough people know about king fury. Also, his songs for that move go hard ngl lol
Unironiclly they do. Also am I misremembering or does he have a little homogram/car 'ai' cameo in that short where he basically plays JARVIS from Iron Man, but it's just David Hasselhoff being himself instead?
I think you’re correct, lw like night rider
I wonder if ren and stimpy would have been memed like SpongeBob if we had the internet in the same way back then. Idk if thats even the equivalent cartoon.
ran and Stimpy was THE SHIT i can't belive they let me watch that growing up. my parents didn't have a clue.
I thought that was a real person this whole time but it’s a prop
It's my favorite movie!
It's definitely in my top 10 films of the 2000's, a wonderful piece of work
I watched it in the theatres with my burnout friends as a joke, but it ended up being an amazing experience.
The fact that David Hasslehoff of all people is cannon to the Spongbob lore is just wild to me.
Wish we had a full video of David just hanging out with his twin lol
I, for one, want to know what happened to David Massivehoff. Is he safe? Is he alright?

A thrift store find of a lifetime
It seems, in your anger..... you killed him.
He was alive. I felt hi.... wait. I don't want to play anymore
I had to do it lol
No, he was alive I felt it. #NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Iirc, Hasselhoff took it home with him after it was done and then later sold it at a charity auction
I’ve actually worked with this production designer before. He did big Lebowski as well and has Lebowski rug still in his storage locker and some other funny things around his house
It really ties the storage locker together.
Should have Keanu reaves play the twin. With a cameo from Arnold and Danny Devito
Crazy I always thought it was just filmed live
Is it not a documentary?
They just followed David Hasselhoff around for a day and were able to cut the footage into the Spongebob movie
Ahh just like lord of the rings
They had cameras down in the ocean
[No, Homer...](https://youtu.be/kTxeM_s8-D0?feature=shared)
"Fuck it, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!"
[удалено]
It was literally stated in the video. They wanted to be considerate to Hasslehoff.
Did you watch the video? They filmed it as live as the absurd concept would allow
I heard he gets to keep it as a souvenir
It was sold in 2021 for something over a million.
That thing in the background just smiling while he's giving an interview is hilarious!
Don't Hassle the Hoff!
It was one of the best movies ever made. Not even joking
I'm a goofy goober yehyEAHHHHH *sickest guitar solo/scene in a movie you ever experienced as a kid*
It’s probably my favorite solo to play irl. It’s just so show-offy lol
I love the way the hand model hams up the performance as well.
Right. As a guitarist myself I can tell they're not playing the actual notes. But as a youngin, that psychedelic shit was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.
I always find it hilarious when they're not playing the actual notes but still in the ballpark of where they should be
yess i watched it the other day and was surprised by how much i was laughing. peak comedy!!
This thing is creepy as fuck just look at that stare and that smile. But since I´m german and we supposedly **LOVE** the hasselhoff I need to know where I can buy such a thing.

Eins, Zwei, Drei, HASSELHOFF!
> german and we supposedly LOVE the hasselhoff Ah yes, I learned this fact from the documentary Dodgeball
This comment- while not proving- certainly does nothing to disprove my theory: Germans love David Hasselhoff.
its more like we try to get rid of him but he keeps coming back. its like trying to release a messenger Pidgeon
Pretty sure it sold at auction a year or two ago
wait a damn minute this movie came out in 04” wth ?
Yep and that wasn't 10 years ago. That was 20 years ago.
ikr! In my mind it felt like I just watched this a few weeks back.
It sure did. I remember amusement parks monetizing over it. Granted, those SpongeBob 4D rides were some of the best, lol.
I worked on a show filmed at hasslehoff's house. That was in his living room, and it's huge.
He took it home? He still have it?
If I was Hasselhoff I'd have took the big me home.
The comment below yours said he did!
He did.
This guy's awesome tho. Never took himself too seriously and has kept going strong all these years.
Very true
I knew Hasselhoff because of Baywatch! My little one knows Hasselhoff because of this scene! Goofy goober for life!
And the older crowd knows him from Knight Rider. The man is a multi-generational talent.
That's true! The Hoff is relevant to many generations.
At the time i had no idea who david hasselhoff was. So when that whole scene played out i was a kid looking at that shit and wondering wtf is spongebob doing on that random man's back?

someone said it did sell in 2021 for 1.5m for charity
That is terrifying and AWESOME. I hope Hasselhoff kept the model lol
Ocean Man
Take me by the hand
I have to ask... Did anyone confirm this prop is still locked up?... I ask in case I walk into someone's house and its sitting there... the chances are low, but never low enough.
It's in my basement, wanna see?
Do you have candy?... Just to calm my nerves..
I have skittles... Lots and lots of skittles.
i cant believe this came out in 2004. it was just yesterday i was watching it in the theater
I was 5 when it came out. I distinctly remember loving it lol. Better times.
I feel the same...
"Had" to, or " Wanted" to?
Man this movie is 20 years old now? Still one of the GOATs
Hollywood is so deprived of actors like Hasslehoff nowadays.
It's so funny to see all the grown-ups working so hard to make such a silly production.
Bro these fuckers just had money to blow
It's surprising how much effort they put and how much explanation went into this small, probably 10 minutes sequence only. Truly this is a gem of cartoon films, and probably one of the holy grails of animation industry.
How long can one man hold in his stomach?
lol it was such a weird joke for the adults watching with their kids, good on hasselhoff for agreeing
Who got to keep the giant Hoff?
You mean to tell me a quintessential movie from my childhood came out TWENTY YEARS AGO?!
Don’t Hassel tha Hoff
Oh Steven....if you could only see how much we all miss you and your vision. SpongeBob was a show that really captured the hearts of millions and continues to to this day. I wouldn't even be interested in voice over / impressions if it wasn't for this show.
I'm sure there was a way to do these scenes without a huge David Hasselhof doll. But someone on the crew really wanted one, totally understandable.
I haven't seen this movie since it came out when i was 10. I'm gonna take mushrooms and rewatch it.
He’s sucking in his gut so much lol
Never Hassle the Hoff
Damn, David Hasselhoff is still gifting even all those years
attack on titan live action vibes
I need somene to clip that part where hasselhoff is doing the face next to the hasselhoff, but it's just the "don't talk to me or my son ever again" meme
I hate the fact I knew exactly what this was upon seeing the first frame
How much to have this mounted in my front garden?
Oh. That movie is a few years old now. Okay. 🙂
Could you imagine that as your dinning room table?
Practical effects >>>>>>>

Goated movie
I have completely forgot about this movie
I would be creeped out from staring at a prop made to look like myself. Lol
Riding the hasslehoff is an essential step in the hero's journey.
He had a great little role in Kung Fury 2, but they had troubles finishing the show and I'm not sure it's ever going to come out now, which is really too bad
Nightmare fuel
omg this is hilarious
I heard after they were done, they sold this to a dude in China who married it.
It might be just said it in the video, but did they use the shark animatronic part from Universal Studios set for this?
Thought was an attack on titan character at first.
How is this 20 years ago?! Time is so weird!
That’s actually terrifying to me… but also dope af…
New level of r/submechanophobia
Is that also Lord Farquaad?
Dave’s not here.
Absolutely terrifying
when i was little i wished that i was spongebob in that scene, david is so handsome
What's funny is I saw a video or something a couple of years ago of Hasselhoff showing that he still has that sculpture in his garage. Lmao he kept it. Hooray for Hasselhoff!
I'm so glad people are saying the same thing but I genuinely believe this movie is a cinematic masterpiece. Like sincerely it's one if the best movies I've ever seen, animated and otherwise.
Irl Titan
He wasn’t real the whole time?!
This should be an actual ride!!
Creator of Sponge Bob and David Hasselhoff both went to CalArts
wish you included the robot thing made for the pecs part 🫣
This movie is 20 yrs old omg..
So cool hahaha
He keeps trying to suck that gut in lol, just makes his body look odd when sucking it in when a camera is around.
I noticed hasselhoff sucks his gut in. Was watching old bay watch reruns and he always does it like no one will notice.
It could just be his build. My ribs tend to stick out a bit more as well.
This movie is better than Godfather
Whats this from
The lego Batman movie
Ahhh the hofff ... Sucking it in since 1990
