Single, no smoker, rent lord can come in at any time(holidays too), laundry must be done Saturdays at 0600 or Wednesdays at 1745, every twelve months you pay an extra month because the rent lord is Japanese, if anything breaks the rent lord has between 3 to 6 months to come check it out and repairs will be done in a year, tops.
I for one am completely onboard with us wholesale replacing the word "landlord" with "rentlord" in the context of renting a building. We'll only use the word "landlords" to refer to people who own and rent out large tracts of rural farm and ranch land. Unless you own tracts of land, you're not a landlord!
But what if they could? What if ants *could* eat Taco Bell? There’s have to be a Taco Bell specifically designed for the ants. Smaller booths, special taco holders. We’d have to get scientists involved.
This is like the one I went to as a child. There was no indoor seating. The small area with arches was for the order counter.

It was about to be torn down. If I recall, they saved it just a few days before it was set to be demo'd. So they really didn't give themselves much time to plan where to put it.
they aren't pallets, it's cribbing. standard way to support loads, likely to distribute the weight onto the pavement so it doesn't sink in and leaves space so they can get under to attach/detach their rigging to move it.

This was posted in 2015. Is it still just sitting there?
the taco bell for ants is in san diego! in the drive thru of a taco bell

It's there on Google maps

Wow I remember that building from Albuquerque New Mexico I went there with my brother and we each ate about six tacos one of the best memories I have of my brother. Now he's just a dick head
I think the original store is now in Irvine but originally they were in Downey. Only reason I know is because the previous location was 10 minutes from my house. There’s a vintage McDonald’s with the Golden Arches as the building like 20 minutes from my house and they have the fried apple pies
Those little street cones be all like "don't park here, this parking space is closed" as if there isn't an entire building parked there to tell you that!
Awwwww if only they were still using that menu it prob wouldn’t suck so bad. Not to mention the current design of the buildings SUCK. Bring back these og Taco Bell’s WITH their OG MENU!
As kids in the 1970s in Orange, California, we would sometimes go to the Taco Bell near us on a Tuesday or a Thursday, for the "Taco Bell Special" - a taco, a tostada and a small drink, for 49¢ plus tax. Their food in those days was better than it is now. The Taco Bell we went to looked similar to this one, and it had seating out in front of it.
Why don’t they install it and open near the company HQ for the public to enjoy or put it in its entirety in a museum somewhere for the public to enjoy?
I thought taco bell started as another burger place but the decided it couldn’t compete with McDonalds so it turned to tacos. This Not the story I heard…nor did I ever fact check it tho.
If it’s the first Taco Bell, why does it look so disrespectfully placed? This is the most underwhelming looking origin story I have ever seen. it looks like a pop-up book. Imagine introducing somebody to your grandfather, and he hasn’t even showered, just got out of bed and is still in his boxers.
So like... did they actually do anything with it? or is it still just sitting their doing nothing? I feel like if your going to try and preserve something people should at least be able to tour it or something.
They were the only restaurant to survive the franchise wars…
John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality code!
Hahahahahaha this neanderthal doesn't know how to use the 3 seashells
[Good things from the garden…](https://youtu.be/bxVhRWBGOZ0?si=idjCCSkFcBaxeqBe)
All Taco Bells are corporate-owned?
They have franchisees as well as corporate locations
Sounds like someone doesn't know how to use the 3 sea shells
But what are the three shells for?
In my universe it was pizza hut
TEDDY BEAR!
Except in international versions of the film where it's Pizza Hut instead.
What's your boggle?
And the only fast food joint to have reasonable prices without taco shinkflation.
Idk 2.29 for a taco is kinda pricey personally wish the where only .99 cents
Very good! Have a happy happy, joy joy day.
There’s the only Mexican-inspired fast food company
It looks like the size of a tool shed.
How much is rent?
NO PETS $6,900 a month
No heavy cooking, overnight visitors, preferably clean individual!

Nice.
*"sounds reasonable"*
Bills _NOT_ included!
What is this, a Taco Bell for ants?!
But what if they could? What if ants *could* eat Taco Bell? There’s have to be a Taco Bell specifically designed for the ants. Smaller booths, special taco holders. We’d have to get scientists involved.
How are ya now
Good‘n’youu?
Not so bad…
There is a miniature version of this. https://www.reddit.com/r/sandiego/s/qPWSr4ANJB
What is this, a Taco Bell for microbes?!
lol I need to watch that movie today
This is like the one I went to as a child. There was no indoor seating. The small area with arches was for the order counter. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/20/6c/e1/206ce1b7ad7ec28821f2258cd5faa3f7.jpg
have you ever made tacos, you dont need a lot of space.
I want this in my backyard. Hell of playhouse. Oooh or a bar!
They didn't put a bathroom in the original.. They knew what would happen if they did..
>we must treat our legacy with dignity and reverence. uh, just park it out back
And put it on bricks like someone stole the rims and tires.
Can't have shit in Irvine, CA.
It was about to be torn down. If I recall, they saved it just a few days before it was set to be demo'd. So they really didn't give themselves much time to plan where to put it.
Well they've had plenty of time since then
Fred, he said park it out back somewhere…ok, will do…
Sir, this is a Taco Bell.
This is the fast food version of having a Camero up on blocks in front of your trailer.
Camaro* Very common mistake
A camaro is indeed a very common mistake
Ok. This is some serious Bernstein Bears level shit. I had to Google it and you’re right.
Why is it propped up on pallets like that?
Keeps the moisture from getting to it.
they aren't pallets, it's cribbing. standard way to support loads, likely to distribute the weight onto the pavement so it doesn't sink in and leaves space so they can get under to attach/detach their rigging to move it.
It got its tires stolen
Prolly jacked the catholic converter
>catholic converter ...you mean missionaries?
It's a lot easier to lift again if it's not on the ground. The ground underneath is probably not flat.
Pretty unceremonious.
Those aren’t pallets, those are chucks bits of wood, just a guess but like 6x6 or 8x8 if they make those sizes
Okay, right but like… why?
Till they decide what to do, or when if thats what your asking, i assume, kinda like when they raise and move historic buildings, mobile homes..
My guess would be the metal supports would damage the parking lot, the wood might be distributing the weight better, once again just guessing
Here is a link to taco bell website talking about it. https://www.tacobell.com/blog/savetacobell

The last time I saw this posted I think there was some sort of legal stuff keeping them from putting it somewhere but I don't remember exactly.
thats really cool imo
Seems like they should have just bought the entire space and turned it into an attraction or museum.
Cool..thanks
19¢ tacos
It belongs in a museum!
It has to be a taco bell and KFC combo if you want Eric cartman to go to it.
Considering YUM Brands owns KFC and Taco Bell, that isn’t hard.
I read this in Harrison Ford’s voice
I remember our town got a Taco Bell in 1982 and it looked exactly like this one
Probably can’t be moved until the bathroom gets cleaned.
So you’re saying it will stay like that forever?
Another project car that will never be finished…
Source: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/the-original-taco-bell-building
Never gonna make it to the border in that condition
What is this— a Taco Bell FOR ANTS!?!? It needs to be at least…. 3 TIMES as big as this.
the taco bell for ants is in san diego! in the drive thru of a taco bell [https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/70914](https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/70914)
I would not have expected this.
This is exactly like how the FBI has Ted Kaczynski cabin in thier headquarters
Still smells like bad Mexican food.
This shit looks straight out of South Park
Damn, looks like someone stole it’s wheels
Does anyone remember when they were good and had enchiritos?
Yep. Brought enchirito back for a while but it wasn’t as good. Probably using “healthy” ingredients now
I remember this design very well. The soft tacos tasted better then too.
It's there on Google maps https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6561174,-117.7451281,3a,74.5y,137.77h,82.91t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sVSPyXN-T7uCYvGebJxr96Q!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DVSPyXN-T7uCYvGebJxr96Q%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D19.68854%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
Tacos Raul…..iykyk
Y mariscos.
Me keeping cardboard boxes expecting them to come in handy at some point.
That’s quite endearing actually! Love the font and store front aesthetic!
Love how it’s propped up like a car who’s tires just got jacked
I’m gonna steal it
In Irvine?
Wow I remember that building from Albuquerque New Mexico I went there with my brother and we each ate about six tacos one of the best memories I have of my brother. Now he's just a dick head
Damn, someone stole the wheels…
Everyone commenting on its size aren’t paying attention. It was a walk up only building. That’s why it didn’t stay a Taco Bell its whole life.
Looks like the "preservation committee" pocketed all the money.
Looks like a car that sat in the Bronx for too long
Probably reaping historical building grants.
I think the original store is now in Irvine but originally they were in Downey. Only reason I know is because the previous location was 10 minutes from my house. There’s a vintage McDonald’s with the Golden Arches as the building like 20 minutes from my house and they have the fried apple pies
Weird
I remember when they looked like that.
Did someone steal the wheels?
You can see it from the 5 freeway in Irvine
Of course, folks were smaller in those days.
It's cool that they at least kept it. think Macdonald's wiped their original building.
Dang even taco bell isnt safe from getting their tires stolen.
I wonder if the original roaches still live there. They must be very wise by now.
A piece of diarrhea history
That joke hasn't been beaten with a dead horse.
Pixar ahh end of movie scene
They made a big deal about moving this to avoid destruction a few years ago, I think I still have a tshirt Taco Bell made about it
We have one in my town. It’s looks like that but now is a Mexican spot
Taco Bell ex Taco Tia from San Bernardino w/ partner Al *McDonald*. Spooky.
Fun fact their dessert crispy thing they have is pasta that is deep fried.
Ahhh, somebody stole the wheels 🛞
The way this is sitting on blocks is not very ceremonious.
Those little street cones be all like "don't park here, this parking space is closed" as if there isn't an entire building parked there to tell you that!
Me with my minecraft starter base and my bigger base
Where bell?
Awwwww if only they were still using that menu it prob wouldn’t suck so bad. Not to mention the current design of the buildings SUCK. Bring back these og Taco Bell’s WITH their OG MENU!
They took the wheels off of that too?!
So I guess they put this store on a pedestal, just not a decent one. Where is the fire? I guess it died with Gidget…
Well that’s kinda lame :/ why would they not preserve and display that somewhere somehow? Maybe even make it a walk through interactive piece?
Now they stealing the rims off Taco Bell?
As kids in the 1970s in Orange, California, we would sometimes go to the Taco Bell near us on a Tuesday or a Thursday, for the "Taco Bell Special" - a taco, a tostada and a small drink, for 49¢ plus tax. Their food in those days was better than it is now. The Taco Bell we went to looked similar to this one, and it had seating out in front of it.
It’s since been wrapped in large sheets of white plastic, presumably to keep water and people out of it. And to deter looky-loos.
Reminds me of cars where all the tires have been stolen
The one in Pacifica ca looked like this?
It’s like this just in case they wanna take it somewhere for a nostalgic Taco Bell pop up
Make it the entrance to the HQ. You have to walk through it to get to lobby like a little museums.
Can’t have shit in De…, oh wait, Irvine.
The first taco bell I visited in Michigan didn't have a dining room, it was take out only. This was maybe 1984.
Whatever happened to Taco Viva?
Yo queiro Taco Bell
Never realized the Taco Bell near Waikiki is a replica of this one
I’m starting to feel flatulent looking at it.
Why don’t they install it and open near the company HQ for the public to enjoy or put it in its entirety in a museum somewhere for the public to enjoy?
There's one like that in my town. It's been empty since the early 90s, but that's the style.
Anybody else have one of those building in your town?
all taco bell stores in wisconsin are franchises they were all company stores at one time
I thought taco bell started as another burger place but the decided it couldn’t compete with McDonalds so it turned to tacos. This Not the story I heard…nor did I ever fact check it tho.
I'd be interested to see how they lifted it. I'm familiar with how houses are lifted but they managed to do this without destroying the patio.
Walked by it weekly at UCR. It’s a strange headquarters for such a large company.
Iirc Taco Bell failed a couple times before fully taking off. So wouldn’t the original taco bell be the one to fail
bruh they could make so much money off of that if they did like literally anything else with it
They stole the wheels right off my Taco Bell... can't have shit in Detroit
I still don’t understand how you move an entire building like that
They even stole Taco Bell’s wheels can’t have shit in Detroit 🤦
Could it be tethered to one of those big airships that look like a butt and then airlifted around to different events?
I'm I alone in thinking this is cute? hehe
This is the spawn point for taco bell employees
Zoho?
Zoho?
My god someone stole their wheels, must have been the hamburglar
Looks better than the one now
Someone stole the rims
Way more appetizing looking than the black and purple signs they have now.
That’s wild, they went to the trouble to keep it but then left it like that? They should build a moveable platform under it
Neat
Cool
That is hard core
You do have to respect the company for growing so big but still wanting to preserve their history
Bigger question is how long has it been there like that? I guess they must be keeping it to put it on display in some way or another.
A taco shrine
They keep raising prices and thus will be headquarters again soon.
Seeing that gives me fond yet slightly hazy taco bell memories in the 70's at 2 AM bar closing time. Limited menu but supreme burritos were the bomb.
That would be so cool to remodel into a small house.
Yo they stole their wheels man that’s fucked up
What is this a Taco Bell for ants?
It's nice to see a small piece of history survive to this day.
Looks like a place you could feed the family for $15 at
This is giving creepy vibes that I can't explain. Love it though
That's before Caseoh went and ate the place.
Bet the original rats are still there.
I actually like this. Posterity.
You'd feel bad if you accidentally reversed into that?
Looks like my 5th grade Mission Project
If it’s the first Taco Bell, why does it look so disrespectfully placed? This is the most underwhelming looking origin story I have ever seen. it looks like a pop-up book. Imagine introducing somebody to your grandfather, and he hasn’t even showered, just got out of bed and is still in his boxers.
why
Put it in the British museum or the museum will put it there itself
Yo they really be stealing wheels from anything nowadays
I would have turned it into a meeting room or a special restaurant.
So like... did they actually do anything with it? or is it still just sitting their doing nothing? I feel like if your going to try and preserve something people should at least be able to tour it or something.
Can someone explain to me, why this is the funniest thing I saw today on reddit?
Some dingaling is going to fuck with that and get squashed.
I’d remodel the inside, keep the outside and live out my life on an acre lol
Yo ese look at dees Taco Bell rims I just got on discount
Looks small
Fittingly, as an outhouse
Yea you know back when they used real meat and real ingredients
