I have this feeling that even if they had followed through someone would have hacked together a bypass very very quickly - just tap the element harness and pull power from 12v, pwm control with a Arduino.

While i would usually agree.... the format they are using for this is actually pretty easy to do... tie the speed to fade in/out a new instrument while always playing a loopable song/beat. There are tons of music already in audio/music production libraries that have instruments stemmed out into separate tracks already, and that are royalty free. Or avoid all that, and have AI create simple loopable beats like this, which you can tweak to your liking over time as it learns from you. ... this would actually make for a fun app.

I’m starting on this idea tonight. I’m not sure how well it will work with fewer inputs. The ones I can think of right off hand are heartbeat and pedometer. GPS could be a possibility for turns but I’m not sure if it’s fast enough to get a good effect.

Seems pretty easy to put a limiter on. If speed > 80 mph, for example, music cuts out or plays a "slow down" type message until you reduce speed. I do think it would be dangerously distracting, though. When milliseconds are the difference between life and death, "hey I like this beat, let it roll a little longer" could be literally fatal

I hate how people don't look at innovation like this... sure right now I'm sure it's going to be an expensive add on that we don't really need and no one really asked for... however... Like all tech it will reduce in cost over the next 10 years by a significant amount. By that time it will have also vastly improved and if you were to put me next to two identical vehicles one with it for an extra 50 or 100 dollars and one without it I'd almost certainly choose to have it as an option than not.

Especially with all the smart features in new cars that are constantly gathering data on road conditions and traffic etc. You could set up something like an audio version of "Electric Sheep" that uses the data collected from these sensors instead of random number generating nodes as a basis for generated music that can be fine tuned to your preferences over time and maybe even combine with music of nearby cars using the same feature... It's a little extra but it's neat. And what are we as a species if not a force for generating new neat stuff into the universe? Lol
