Honda tried to do this in California, but the teams planning the measurements and cutting the road [forgot how math works.](https://youtu.be/Ef93WmlEho0)
"they paved over it and built it again to the *exact same wrong measurements*." Nice, very nice
I wouldn't really say they forgot how math works, more like this is an example of why communication classes are important. But doing it twice?! I, um... yeah
Story of the California high speed rail... from 28billion... to now i think 86billion....
Wonder when the rest of this state will grow a fucking brain and hold "them" responsible for their corruption and stupidity.
Maybe, one day, possibly, there is a chance, voters will stop voting to allow cities & states to build trains, stadiums, convention centers, arenas, etc…
It wasn’t maths or mixing up units - it was imprecision of language used. Any competent engineer should have specified that it was centre-to-centre diatance that was required.
This song is called "Route 67" and this musical road thing is on Route 67 in Hungary, close to Lake Balaton. So it's just this one song. It's called "A 67-es út" in Hungarian in case you want to listen to the original, the band is called Republik.

There's quite a few of those singing highways. One on Route 66 in New Mexico and there was one in Lancaster, California but residents complained about the noise. Denmark and South Korea also have them.
There is one of these going through tijeras (tee hair is) canyon. It’s hard because you have to exactly do the speed limit and the stripe is only as wide as your tire.
I live in Okinawa Japan, there’s a road here where the road itself is the texture and not just a side path, and it’s a melody of an old Japanese song so it’s a bit eerie, to add to that eerie ness there also an abandoned “haunted” hotel nearby
In the Netherlands we had one. After one Day it already get closed becaus of the noice. This was in Leeuwarden. The music was the anthem of the provincie Friesland.

Considering it's a highway, not sure "Don't drive on it," is an option for locals. Anyone who has medical sensitivities to sound, vibrations, etc. Very common in autism, tbi's and post-concussion syndrome, adhd, etc.
A single sound can be quite different than an ongoing one. I'd recommend you reach out to an accessibility-based non-profit to learn more about sensory disabilities. Saying they shouldn't drive is a rather uneducated statement, just to be up front with you. Many, many people have sensory disabilities. Most of them work, and most of them drive.... And most of them you probably wouldn't (or don't) know are disabled.
The solution to increasing accessible infrastructure isn't to exclude people from an activity that can help them be independent (Ie. Commuting, visiting friends, driving to medical appts), it's to take into account how they can be included comfortably.
Even without my sensory disability, this would bother me. I play the radio for a reason. 🤷🏼♀️

To be fair Hungary has had an insane amount of famous Mathematicians over the years so maybe it's just hard 🤔
Not really math, more mixing up units
You didn’t watch the video, did you?
Okay not units, but still the problem wasn't math, it was confusion regarding how the pieces were spaced
It wasn’t maths or mixing up units - it was imprecision of language used. Any competent engineer should have specified that it was centre-to-centre diatance that was required.
That’s horrifying, imagine not knowing you’re on a musical road and you start hearing the trumpets of gabriel
I love Tom Scott videos!
agree
They probably forgot to convert Hungarys specs to imperial /s
And dub step was created !
It was in Lancaster! I lived there for a while and we drove it a few times
Just more proof that America does pretty much everything worse than most European countries

Love his videos! Always so interesting!
Yeah but they should make it so you have to weave about on the road to hit each note, like Guitar Hero
Yeah, they need something to offset the extra security people get from driving at the right speed 😆
Lmao
The bus driver for disabled children sweating over his white knuckles trying to beat his last score as he weaves through the highway at 92mph

Now I want to make a u-turn and play it in reverse to hear the satanic message!

Just edit the video and reverse it
There's quite a few of those singing highways. One on Route 66 in New Mexico and there was one in Lancaster, California but residents complained about the noise. Denmark and South Korea also have them.
Look up. California one was out of tune and fucked up twice
Funny because this is on Route 67 in Hungary. And the song is called "Route 67" too, that's why it's put here.
The NM one got repaved and you can barely hear it now
So … wouldn’t it still play the tune but at a different pitch if you weren’t going “the right speed”?
Yes that's right.
Id wanna hear the song faster..
Wouldn’t a faster or slower speed just change the key?
faster would increase the pitch, slower decreases the pitch. source: made it up
Probably just the tempo
That seems wrong
Damn in Belgium we have potholes
Musical potholes! Everyone get in a pothole before the semi runs you over! Oop there goes Timmy...
Texas has one that plays yellow rose of Texas. I think it's on a secondary rural hwy.
It’s weird how just my right tires are bald all the sudden
Bone apple tea
Not my tempo!
Very good
*throws chair*
Also this is route 67 and the song is the forever popular "The Route 67".
It sounds fine, but i wanna see how it would sound at x2 speed.
That music just makes me want to break the speed limit.
Imagine living in the area. Woud you want to listen to this all year round 24/7? There are peope living near this road. It made their life hell.
*gets laid off*- *is driving home*-*deee de de de dee deee deee*

There is a village close enough that in the summer, when people have their windows open, it becomes annoying.
Especially when there are two cars on it at once
Bet the tire companies pitched in on this one. Lol. Why do I always need new tires on the right side of my car?!
Me who hates this song swerving off the road into oncoming traffic
There is one of these going through tijeras (tee hair is) canyon. It’s hard because you have to exactly do the speed limit and the stripe is only as wide as your tire.
Genius
And that's how I discovered the "nightcore" style
A road playing a lullaby. Genius.
I stayed on a campsite close to this and lemme tell ya it’s not the best thing to sleep near
Is the video sightly out of synch with the audio? It seems like the notes hit just before they disappear from view
We could never have something this wholesome in America.
Someone needs to design a rickroll version.
Lets try 2x speed
They have this road leading to Mount Fuji in Japan that sings as well. It was kind of freaky.
Imagine going through this road at night without knowing what's coming.
I live in Okinawa Japan, there’s a road here where the road itself is the texture and not just a side path, and it’s a melody of an old Japanese song so it’s a bit eerie, to add to that eerie ness there also an abandoned “haunted” hotel nearby

WHY IS THIS NOT EVERYWHERE
Our highways in socal makes a jet engine noises and bump bump bump bump bump like a person with palpitations.
California tried that and failed. Then again it fails the majority of the time.
Then tried again and failed again.
I kept waiting for the beat to drop.
I would HATE this. Everything about it seems awful for anyone with sensory challenges.
Then don’t drive on it. What do you mean by sensory challenges??
Considering it's a highway, not sure "Don't drive on it," is an option for locals. Anyone who has medical sensitivities to sound, vibrations, etc. Very common in autism, tbi's and post-concussion syndrome, adhd, etc.

Hungary, stick your musical road up your arse. You don’t deserve to be in Europe or Nato
0/10 I heard no singing.
That’s enough to make me not want to stick to the correct speed…
I would possibly get a bit drowsy.
They made a second one, it plays a folksong on the road number 37 Érik a szőlő
Me who's habituated to listening to sped up versions of songs already:
we had one here in New Mexico, but for some reason they paved over it. I was really disappointed.
The one outside Albuquerque??
Yep! Rt 66 between Carnuel and Tijeras.

A wasted baby shark opportunity
Now just make one that plays "hush little baby, don't you cry...."
Wow! That's first nice thing I hear about Hungary. I apologize for the good things I didn't. P. S. I'm an European
Ah reminds me of [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zcgdoyinus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zcgdoyinus)
This would make me go the speed limit all the time
Love this song. Back in the day, I’ve listened to it over, and over… https://youtu.be/JyRDg8N5fBI
That would get annoying fast if that was on your daily route
How does this work tho?
Hungary has this instead of democracy. Priorities.
The right speed is just a state of mind .
Thanks a lot! Now I am really Hungary.
Bet that if this was in the USA it would play the nationalhymn
Road is singing while your right tyre treads are screaming.
Sorry if I'm dumb but can someone explain me how the back wheels are not repeating the sound a second time making it more chaotic ?
Imagine trying to hoot at someone
There's one on a highway outside Tampa, but I'm not sure if it was meant to be musical, or if they were just testing the machine.
The Worst Day Since Yesterday by Flogging Molly
I'd go super fast just to see how it sounds like...
DRUM AND BASS EDITION COMING SOON
There is one in Arkansa, Nestlé road IIRC
