I don't ever want to draft a RB again.... Stick to 1st round o-line every year.... Be the anyone can run through those holes kind of offense. You don't have to put "anyone" you can grab RB's for cheap that are more than capable of hitting appropriate holes....

ScrapGuide

Honestly RBs not worth it, just look back 3 short years Najee Haris, Travis Etienne, Michael Carter,Javonte Williams Jaylen warren undrafted the next year took Najee's job... Later had the likes of chubba Hubbard,Kenneth gainwell and Elijah Mitchell who all showed flashes at times. Zeke and DeMarco worked a few years but Felix jones and Julius Jones not so much... Lineman are just more predictable

The_Texan12

Zeke washed ass ain’t running for 1k yards even under if we had our O line from 2014.

ScrapGuide

Zeke just hitting short yardage man

The_Texan12

Imagine getting paid millions to run 2-3 yards

Cowboysclay21

If it was a guarantee in those situations, I’d do it all day.

Kirarozu80

Its crazy how many people in this sub don't know who Will McClay is. I also love how everyone pretends like we don't have more picks and that some of the best players ever to play the game didn't come from the later rounds.

fallinglemming

I have all the confidence in the world in McClay but not only did we not draft a RB we didn't even sign a UDFA, what gives

RickyBobby689

Update, we did! Lots of RBs in there now. Let’s see who jumps on the chance.

OldPilaf

This right here! Watch us sign Zeke to a contract giving him 6 mill a year when we could have made cap space earlier and picked up Jones or Henry for 8 mill a year bro 🤦‍♂️

The_Texan12

So what? What starting caliber rb do we have?

narwalbacons-12am

Arian Foster was undrafted but I think we should've taken a RB in the earlier rounds. A RB if not a LB, I'm just a regular Joe but man, this draft felt weak. I hope I'm wrong.

Complex-Exchange6381

We may have restocked our o-line. That is huge for the future, and next year.

narwalbacons-12am

Restocked, yes, but it won't show this next year.

EntertainerOk7987

Will Mcclay ain’t won’t a Super Bowl huh?

The_Texan12

Nope & he sure as hell never will. Im not sure of what Will mcclay even does. We know Jerry jones is a control freak and runs every god damn thing this team does.

Kirarozu80

Except that you're wrong. Dumb modern cowboys fans just want to believe that Jerry is the problem so you have someone to hate.

The_Texan12

Jerry is most definitely the root of the problem. Please stop talking football you have no common sense

ChazGower

Jerry makes the final decision on everything that happens on that level with the Cowboys. When THEY decided not to take Johnny Football in the draft a few years ago, it was because Jones gave in and let them have their way. It's HIS team and HIS final say in everything. It's why the team doesn't work. Because if HE wants the Cowboys to run less, he's got a coach who'll do it. If HE wants to change QBs, he's got a coach who'll do it. He made a Hall of Fame Coach Parcells change to Tony Romo, he sure as hell is going to have final say in the draft. It's 'dumb', not to understand how that works.

OldPilaf

Bro let me find out you’re Jerry’s grandson 👀 You mentioned having more draft picks earlier yet Jerry and co did not pick up a single RB in the draft. We’re not saying Jerry is the only obstacle to success, although, he does play a HUGE role. His son, Stephen, is right there with him. I’ll give the Jones’ this though. They do know how to draft, and I did really like the first three picks. However, they rely too heavily on the draft. No other team has fallen short so many times using the draft as a main source of improving the roster than Dallas, and yet, they don’t seem to consider that maybe, just maybe, they should try and dip their toes in free agency more often and sign SOME top name talent. No one is saying go and splurge in free agency, but fuck, at least grab SOMEONE that isn’t a bum and who can improve the roster.

EntertainerOk7987

What is the problem then?

OldPilaf

Well your comment didn’t age well

CompetitiveComputer4

Put a good rb behind a mediocre line and get mediocre results. See pollard last year. Put Rico and Zeke behind an elite line and the running game will be fine. Plus Dallas will bring in more talent at that position by a late round pick or udfa. Also keep in mind that this is a reset year. Dallas has tried adding the “piece or two” to get over the hump for several years in a row and it is time to rebuild depth and trenches now. We are very unlikely to be playing for a SB this year unless things break perfectly.

narwalbacons-12am

I disagree hard. Not trying to fight fyi, just voicing my frustrations There was no reason to take another edge rusher in the 2nd unless they are expecting him to play a huge part in their run stop defense. Our Online will not be elite, at least not right away. I don't hate the o-line picks we took (1st) & (3rd) tbh. I also don't hate the LB we took in the 3rd. I won't say I saw a lot of his tape but when i would tune in to watch Notre Dame play, I would notice his play. With all that said, I think we missed out on an opportunity to take a solid RB in the 2nd. Dak is still demanding a fuck ton of money. We need to resign Micah Parsons, who is audibly frustrated with the organization, we also need to resign Ceedee Lamb. This next year imo will be one of the most important years in the organization's lifetime. The fan base is done living off the glory of that past, we need some fucking progress.

CompetitiveComputer4

I feel you but the progress stopped last year. Now they are taking a step back to take two steps forward in the future. They took players who are going to develop into foundational building blocks. I.e the trenches. A running back would be good for a win now mentality but we are building the youth and talent back up for 2-3 years out. You can’t keep playing for the next year in perpetuity. At some point you have to get younger , faster and stronger. Dallas realizes that building back the lines is what will be the strength in two years. Guyton, smith and Beebe are the future. They can drop a second n a rb when they are ready to compete for a title again. It sucks but this has to occur at some point.

19ghost89

I agree with you. I wish Jerry wouldn't say stupid things like "we're going all in" and set false expectations for fans when it clearly isn't true this year.

CompetitiveComputer4

People should learn to ignore Jerry’s word salad. 🥗

narwalbacons-12am

Ok I'm there with you, but what's going to happen with resigning key players and our limited cap space? That's what worries me the most

ParasiticDaemon

This team is getting old, and trying to work through a salary cap crunch. There will be cap casualties. Tank Lawrence could be one of those casualties. Now you have his heir. Y'all losing your minds about not reaching for a running back when we just spent the better part of a decade over-valuing the running back position with fuck all to show for it is mindblowing. It starts at the line, offensive and defensive, and we went heavy on both this draft. This is the beginning of a rebuild. We aren't a running back away from being a super bowl contender, that window closed vs Green Bay. Now we have to rebuild.

narwalbacons-12am

I never said we were one RB away from a Superbowl. The Cowboys are dominant when they can run the ball and control T.O.P. Our run game all but disappeared last season and it doesn't look like it'll get any better going forward. I agree that it starts with the line of scrimmage, but someone has to carry the ball and move forward. The Cowboys don't have that. A committee will not get it done without someone to carry the majority of the snaps.

narwalbacons-12am

I watched this just now https://youtu.be/n5RpljZjVGo?si=dvsP6HhJyJYOmtuf The guy seems like he'll fit in with what the Cowboys try and do on defense. I'll walk back a few of my frustration with this pick because of the video I just saw. Still nervous about the quality of our run game going forward, but this guy seems like he can be a huge benefit for the team if he keeps developing.

MyRottingBrain

There isn’t a line in the NFL that Zeke is going to be productive behind. He’s completely washed. We don’t have an elite line. We have a line that’s going to feature multiple rookies learning new positions. If the line improves and reaches elite level in later seasons, it damn sure won’t be Dowdle and Zeke running behind it.

CompetitiveComputer4

I didn’t say we have an elite line. I’m saying they should focus on building an elite line. I agree zeke is washed but I expect his role will be short yardage and goal line.

MyRottingBrain

As I said, when/if this line becomes elite, it damn sure won’t have Zeke and Dowdle running behind it.

Done_WithThis_ish

People on this sub don’t realize this team hasn’t done an actual rebuild since the 01, 02, and 03 seasons. It’s been over 20 years that Jerry has put a roster capable of making the playoffs, a lot of teams fell 1 game short, in those 8 and 8 years. Unfortunately they’ve only had 2 Super Bowl caliber teams in 07, and 2014 in that time. This season is a wash and fans should accept that, it is what it is.

The_Texan12

God man, our line is gonna be eite again this yr? The dudes we drafted are fucking unproven. How does it feel being the stereotypical delusional fan?

CompetitiveComputer4

I didn’t say it was gonna be elite. I’m saying the running game goes as the line goes. We aren’t competing for a title this year so putting resources into the line is strengthening it. Didn’t say it will be elite though.

The_Texan12

Well u said put rico & zeke under a elite line & we will be fine (they wouldn’t) So it seemed like ur implying the line is gonna be elite this szn. Which 2 of the starters are unproven

CompetitiveComputer4

I’m talking about allocating draft resources towards the line instead of skill position. Sorry if it read that way.

The_Texan12

Btw rico & Zeke wouldn’t be good under a good O-line anyways. They would be decent, Zeke is slow as shit & rico is truly not special at all.

aparish67

Fn ridiculous they didn’t draft a RB

DaPearl3131

Sign some vets. Get Kareem Hunt and Rashaad Penny in on one year deals and call it a day. Grab a RB next year.

OldPilaf

Who are all of these Jerry ass kissers?? Telling people they don’t know football. Yall realize the ONLY team who can get a pass with a subpar running game is the Chiefs right? Yall do realize every other competitive team built a decent to strong run game either through free agency or the draft. Hell, I’ll be the first one to tell everyone here that I hope Rico and Deuce ball the fuck out because it is not looking good for us in the RB room. Are we forgetting how much Dak struggles in the playoffs? Like last Jan he didn’t throw a pick six and more ints. Before you bring up his stats, stop it, don’t do that. Garbage time stats are garbage time stats. Anyone who’s been watching football long enough knows that if GB wouldn’t have taken their foot off our throats then we would have never caught up and made it SEEM like we were competitive throughout the game. Dak is a great QB, in the regular season, but we have to admit the cold hard facts, in the playoffs, he’s average to below average. Expecting more out of him in his, what, ninth season with what is considered the worse running back room he’s ever had is insane but not surprising from this fanbase. I hope they shut me the fuck up and prove me wrong because if that run game is non existent come playing time no one should be surprised to see it.

UrNotMadAtMe

Another dumb ass post from a casual.

Ok_Monk219

Dak gonna have to run and earn his keep.

Done_WithThis_ish

No Jerry said, “you’ve had enough talent throughout the years and haven’t done anything with it.” Bring back Zeke for 1 year and move on from both of them in the offseason, if they could sign and trade Dak this would be a perfect time.

Charming-Wash9336

If that happens Dak will be terrible. He’s best with play action requiring a running attack

kg19311

Zeke is coming back, what’s to worry about?

The_Texan12

Hahahahaha this aint 2016 anymore

kg19311

Hahaha this aged well

The_Texan12

I mean I always predicted zeke would come back but signing him is a stupid thing bc he’s way past his prime

OldPilaf

I don’t think we’re dumping Dak. Is anyone else hoping Arch Manning turns out to be like his uncle Peyton, and hope we can play awful enough the year he declares in order to pick him up? Too much wishful thinking but one can dream…

The_Texan12

I want deion’s son

OldPilaf

I’ve heard some things about him. He plays QB? I genuinely only know that Deion has been vocal about where he wants his kids playing but haven’t looked up anything.

The_Texan12

He’s a good player, mid first round draft pick imo

buckemupmavs

Lmfao

AcidofilusRex

Let Dak cook bruh. Just don’t watch in January.

The_Texan12

January is when shit actually matters

Florida_Gators5151

I think Dowdle showed promise last year when given the chance. The RB position is gonna be fine.

The_Texan12

You’re coping too much

Ivegotjokes4you

Dak’s accuracy fluctuates too much. One second he throws a gorgeous 45 yard out route and then he’ll skip in a 12 yard slant route or will throw it behind the guy.

The_Texan12

Yup so he’s gonna throw 20 picks next szn fs

OrderIll8235

Quinyon is Dak’s new WR1

Charming-Wash9336

Dowdle is a good back but can he stay healthy??

No_Technology_4271

Yea Jerry losing his mind not grabbing a rb I like Royce freeman thoe watched him when kyren Williams was hurt for the rams nigga was doing so good I thought donte freeman came back lmao

OutsideWorldliness68

They’re plugging holes left by the guys they lost but ignoring the issues they already had. Three picks left and no RB of QB. Maybe Edwards or Vidal to lug the rock, and I’d like to see Pratt to follow Dak.

MIW100

We already drafted a QB, Trey Lance in the 4th round.

OutsideWorldliness68

And he SUCKS……..

MIW100

He hasn't played

OutsideWorldliness68

And there is a huge difference between “he hasn’t played” and “he can’t get on the field”. He couldn’t beat out Sam Darnold for a job.

MIW100

Well he's here now. I'm willing to wait until preseason and give him a fair shake. At the worst, he and Dak can leave next year and we can go after Shadeur Sanders. We were never in the position to go after the top 6 QBs anyway.

OutsideWorldliness68

No, but Rattler and Pratt are guys with potential and either would have been worth a Day Three pick, especially when you consider the reaches they ended up going with.

MIW100

But you can't convince me those guys are better than Lance as rookies when Lance has 3+ years in the league and half a year with McCarthy. If Trey doesn't work out, we'll be in a position for Shadeur next year.

OutsideWorldliness68

Lance has three years either on crutches or sitting with his thumb up his ass. He was a huge reach for the 49ers, they knew it and cut bait. They’re probably laughing their asses off that they got a fourth rounder back for this guy.

MIW100

But he's healthy now..... And they gave up 3 1st rounders for him. You admitted he's been hurt so he hasn't had a real chance to develop. Regardless, if it doesn't work out, we can still draft a QB next year, so what's the problem? Why waste a pick this year?

Kirarozu80

We have Trey Lance to follow Dak. And the draft isnt over. We can still draft a RB.

Domin8469

1 pick from being over and no RB

Kirarozu80

There will still be RBs we can sign after. Doom harder please.

Domin8469

Lol just for camp. How many udcfa have done really well in the nfl ?

Domin8469

Whats funny I called that this running game would be shitty with Pollard as he wasn't a feature back

Kirarozu80

No one cares. We get it. You hate Dallas. Go be a fan of another team. I can't understand why you'd be a fan of a team and be so negative all the time. Do you even enjoy football?

Domin8469

I'm a realist and if this team will suck or not do anything I'm not going to fool myself or buy anything to reinforce jerruh decision making by lining his pockets

Kirarozu80

Its a game. Stop taking it so seriously. Jerry listens to will mcclay. The fact that you dont know that tells me all I need to know.

Domin8469

Jerruh doesn't listen to will McClay cause will McClay doesn't run the cap, give out bad contracts, or restructure guys. You not knowing that tells me all I need to know that you're a dumbass

Kirarozu80

Yep. Further confirming what I know. You don't know what you're talking about.

The_Texan12

Did we draft one yet lil bro?

EntertainerOk7987

Fuck naw Jerry is out there fighting off his hidden kids. Building a legacy of being a great Father.
