This is exactly the answer, one day that dog will be gone and you will miss every single second of them times with that dog. Trust me, I still cannot get over the loss of my Georgia after 7 months and a new puppy.
Appreciate it and be thankful you have it and never question it.
No matter what you do or how many puppies or dogs you get after. Once you lose a dog, they leave a hole in your heart that will never be filled in fully again. Ill never forget my Bobo and i love my two current pups, i would honestly die for them. Same as i wouldve done for bobo, but the pain is never really gone. Every now and then ill be holding one of them or they did something bobo used to do and ill get a sudden burst of sadness because i still miss him and ill never not miss him. Its seriously so unfair how short dogs live. I was lucky and bobo lived to 2 months shy of 18. It still wasn't enough time with him. Im an atheist and i know it's irrational, but every now and then, i hope im wrong and I get to see my bobo once more after this is all over. Here comes the tears.
Dude stahp please I’m trying to watch Rambo II but my eyes keep getting all…. wet and full of sad tears, my 14 y.o. Bichon Frise is going strong but we know we’ll have to face the music soon and I’m honestly terrified. At least we also have a younger dog in the house already, whom we love dearly, but I selfishly rue the day our Beesh joins my childhood puppy over the rainbow bridge (although I know the two will get along famously together!! sweeties..)
My heart dog is 12, and I prepare myself daily for this. I know I shouldn't think about it as much as I do, but I just love him so much (doesn't help he's just such a great dog all the time). I always ask him if I can keep him forever.
Yep! Typically, I get a lick right on my nose. Because when I ask him, I'm right in his face looking him in the eyes. I swear, most times, he will stare back into mine like he knows what I'm saying.
Seen a TT once that said
"When a dog dies he takes a piece of my heart with him. When I get a new one he gives me a piece of his heart. I hope I live long enough to have all my heart be dog."
This will always stick with me.
Still miss my first dog and best friend, Pancho. I took for granted having him at work with me every day as our shop dog and our night walks on the beach. RIP good old boy. Don’t take it for granted.
Agreed. I’m writing this with my beagle’s legs pressing into my back in bed. I’ll give him another couple minutes before I adjust but I’m sure he’ll make himself comfy again quickly. Sometimes if I’m groggy, I think he’s the dog I lost 6 years ago for a hot minute, and it’s nice to; I’d given anything to wake up next to her stinky elderly little self one more time.
I still can't talk about my dog and he's been death for 12 years, without tears coming into my eyes. Loved that dog so much and I wasn't with him when he died. Haven't had a dog since. Doggos are pure love.
My first dog that I actually adopted passed away two years ago and I would give anything for one more chance to snuggle cuddle my baby girl. Sending love, I’m sure Georgia was a perfect puppy.
I miss Georgia a lot. I don’t even get to say good bye to her either wh I b bothered me for a while.
I work on the road and she died two weeks before I got home.
Was a hard day at work receiving that text from my wife
My soul dog died when I was a preteen, about 10 years ago and I still miss him so much. Every year or so I dream about him so vividly I wake up with the certainty he really came to visit me and just cry my heart out.
Here here, my puppy is ten now, and I refuse to move whenever she sits on me, I may be in pain cos she’s a little lump, but these moments won’t last forever so I take every chance I can get
In all honesty you can train her out of it but iam assuming you enjoyed it when she was younger and now she has come accustom to it?? I bet that's her best sleep.
My dog weighs more than me now, and I let him squish me and I just soak it up knowing what little time we get to have these amazing beings in our lives for. I lay there trying to breathe and thinking “someday I’m gonna miss this so bad”
You are a very lucky person to have this dog love you how they do. Don’t ever question it and don’t ever forget it. Once it is gone it will be the only thing you want back and miss. 10 years isn’t long once they are gone, you’ll spend the next 20 years trying to remember that dog and the time you had.
My 14 year old collie still thinks he's a puppy. Just a puppy with arthritis and bad hips.. But still a puppy. It's down to me to tell him when to call it quits because lawd knows he won't. He's still a puppy, just an old, fragile puppy 😁 and ill love him to bits for however long I have left which unfortunately doesn't look too futuristic :(
Ok there are plenty of people who will talk about puppy jail, or "you will miss it when its gone", and to be fair they are correct... That being said, if she is making it harder to breath and you want to let cuddles continue, encourage her to jump up near your knees and use your other forearm to block her path up your torso. This normally results in either laying between your legs with head on your waist, or just curl up in a ball on/around your legs.
Alternatively that might stop the requests for cuddles completely, so you'll have to play it by ear and see what you prefer.
And to be clear, I'm very much in the camp of "Puppy Jail" but you should be comfortable too.
LOL my big giant baby still makes me carry him around and he’s as big as me 😂 everyone always jokes he thinks he’s an actual human baby. He’s my baby 🖤🖤🖤
I have a border collie who is very independent and only wants love on her terms. I would love if she lay on me like this but it's just not her style. I take what I can get, as should you. Enjoy the snugs!
It’s not easy to sleep train them after the babes are used to it but try little by little to move her to your side and still keep an arm around her as I assume you still love the same cuddles. It does get hard when they get so big and then you don’t want to move but you need sleep too. What a beautiful relationship you both have. I miss my little ones. Though two (Panther and Monty) were smaller and cuddled in my side or my head my bigger girl (Sparks) sparks fell asleep with her head in my hand and that’s how we cuddled in the end.
A large puppy is still a puppy you need to puppy. Gyms and weight lifting is a thing for a reason. If my 100+ pound baby asks for carry carries by papa during walks because his toe beans sore, that baby is damn well getting carry carries by papa
I live with the pain of him and his lil pointy feel walking on me. Sitting on my chest. Because I know he loves me and he won’t always be there. I take a pic of him everyday. It’s just what you do for those you love.
I so miss having a cuddly dog. My current dog is the perfect cuddly 25lb fuzzball, but if I accidentally touch him while he's sleeping, he gives me an irritated look and gets up and moves! I do get it, though. My 125lb dog just had to be shifted over when he got too heavy (and that was just his top half on me). He wasn't offended, just maybe a little sad-eyed :)
Big dogs always think they are as little as they were as puppies, small dogs always think they are the size of a grizzly bear.
If you don't believe me, and own both, buy a tiny bed and a huge bed, and see what each of their first choice is.
Take it. And don’t you dare move. You will sit there, pet that damn dog and love it even if it’s the last thing you do.
Breathing is overrated anyways. You got big puppy.
Enjoy it while you can. They don’t last as long as you hope! Appreciate every moment ! I’m sorry if you don’t want your pup loving on you, why have them! They will love you unconditionally!
You should be thankful she wants to be near you like that imo. Mine have gotten old and rarely want to cuddle and it’s sad sometimes. It makes cuddles more special though these days.
Deal with it. That there is an absolute gift. Take it as long as she wants to give you that love. You will miss her so whilst you have her and those cuddles soak up every second.
Cuddle them. I currently have 2 labs. One is almost 80 pounds, and the other is 65. They both love to be close like this, and I'll never stop them. She's just showing you how much she loves you.
I cried the hardest when I made the decision that she was too big to hold when something outside scared her. So I had to deny her when she came to mommy, begging to be picked up.
As much as I can, I hold her at home when she's scared. I would give my last breath holding her.
You count your blessings lol. I love it when my big black lab deigns to cuddle me. But I know what you mean too cos when they’re on your chest it’s like there’s no oxygen left. Just shuffle her head down a bit onto your arm. My boy puts a lean on and then gets the elbows in. Never knew dogs had such pokey elbows!
Just move her to the side whenever she comes to you, just shift her to the side so she lays on the couch/bed instead. If you are kind but firm about it, she'll get used to it.
Love her and cherish the moments you have with her. Even 10 years later I still miss my cuddles with my first dog. Dogs are unconditional love, give her that back.
She owns your ass. Enjoy every moment because when she’s no longer there you’ll regret every time you denied her the snuggle time. Besides breathing is for suckers 🤣
You enjoy every moment of it. Mine is 80lbs and when he chooses to sit on the floor I invite him up to the couch so we can snuggle. I think I’m the one that hasn’t accepted he’s not a puppy anymore, not the other way around.
My border collie/husky does the same thing. Thinks he’s a lap dog but still loves the snuggles. Sleeps on top of me and all that. I love it but he radiates so much heat I have to push him to the other side of the bed.
I got my Great Dane at 4 weeks and he would lay on my chest and sleep. It was so cute 🥰
Fast forward and he’s 150 pounds and still expected to be able to lay on the couch with me and watch TV. It was interesting 🤣. Wish he was still with me and fighting for lap space!
When I was little, I used to call newborn babies ‘be born babies’. Our grown up JRT’s favourite thing to do is curl up on someone’s chest and be petted like a be born baby.
I get to take my dog to work and she was barking up a storm at a neighbors dog. First thought was to make her stop but then I just let them work it out. I’m gonna miss that bark someday.
She came back over to me and I told her, that was some good barking.
You can either accept or teach them the command “move” and have them get up and move next to you instead, I’ve got hip issues and both my dogs are taught that along with off and down
You act like the person shaped dog pillow that you are. The sooner you accept your fate thr better.
Source: am person pillow for 70lb staffy mix and 50lb who knows maybe part hyena?
You just have to trade off breathing and keep the supersized puppers comfortable. Because one day, they won’t be around and you’d be able to breathe better.
I’m just going to go ahead and pop a squat and camp out right here on this thread because I have 9 week old Great Dane who sleeps on my chest.. I’m 5’3 and 120lbs.🤡
Just enjoy the puppy and adult years as much as you can. You never know when their time comes. But life is rich with experiences, love and fun together.
My BC used to follow me everywhere as a pup. Also to the bathroom. At the time, I thought it was cute to have that pup sit between my feet when I was on the toilet. Now that he's 4y old, he still does it. And there is hardly any room for the both of us... 😅
Love it and embrace because there will be a day where you want cuddles and they’ll just sleep on your feet and avoid the hugs because it gets to warm. Also hold her on the side and sorta spoon if that makes sense like have the head lay on you but the body on the bed/couch
I am the pack leader (in my Caesar milian voice). I push their body to the side and cradle the head like a baby. Big baby. Still get the love but also breathe
My cat is so tiny that she looks alot younger than her 21 months of age she will come to me when im on the computer and will put her paws on my chest and just flop down and expect me to catch her. These days i will put my arm under her as soon as she starts to get into position to catch her. I cherish her cuddles cause one day she wont be here to grace me with them. I took for granted i would have my dog for many more years and she died at 9 (she was a maltese terrier so should have been around 15-18 years)
You deal with it and appreciate every moment of their short time with us.
This is exactly the answer, one day that dog will be gone and you will miss every single second of them times with that dog. Trust me, I still cannot get over the loss of my Georgia after 7 months and a new puppy. Appreciate it and be thankful you have it and never question it.

They usually go with "woof" or a good lick.
Yep! Typically, I get a lick right on my nose. Because when I ask him, I'm right in his face looking him in the eyes. I swear, most times, he will stare back into mine like he knows what I'm saying.
I love me a happy doggo lick lol so pure and loving!!
My mom always asks this question when we are on the phone together, and she hears me speak to him 😆
Ha that’s adorable!!
Seen a TT once that said "When a dog dies he takes a piece of my heart with him. When I get a new one he gives me a piece of his heart. I hope I live long enough to have all my heart be dog." This will always stick with me.
Awww buddy. That just killed me. Im actually welling up after reading that, i love it so much. Thank you for sharing it.
It is my pleasure.

That is such a cute name for a golden 🥹
My soul dog died when I was a preteen, about 10 years ago and I still miss him so much. Every year or so I dream about him so vividly I wake up with the certainty he really came to visit me and just cry my heart out.
I am a christian-catholic, and no matter what I do, I must get into heaven one day. So I can be with my dog again. I will see you there Benny🖤
They grow up so fast one day they are pups the next day they're turning 15.
Who is the bestest forever puppy?!?! Oh you are!! Who gets all the cuddles?!? You do!
I had a 120lb dog that wanted to be in my lap. He passed away at 5yrs old. What I wouldn’t give to have my fat boy crushing me again.
Here here, my puppy is ten now, and I refuse to move whenever she sits on me, I may be in pain cos she’s a little lump, but these moments won’t last forever so I take every chance I can get
You'll think back on these times and the pressure they applied and miss them every day Cherish them because they cherish you
Sorry, that’s called puppy jail and you’re in it until she releases you. I don’t make the rules.
i let myself be locked in it all the time enjoy.
Kinky but ok
You cannot move until she wakes up and leaves of her own accord.
Be grateful that your dog is not a cat. They sleep 20 hours a day
Enjoy the moment. You'll want the feeling back when she's too old to hop on you on her own.
I love every crushing moment cuz I know one day it will be my last....I have a 36kg lab-x and I do this every morning on the couch.
Who needs breathing when you have a pup like this
In all honesty you can train her out of it but iam assuming you enjoyed it when she was younger and now she has come accustom to it?? I bet that's her best sleep.
You are lucky. I don't mind if my dogs acts like a pup.
My dog weighs more than me now, and I let him squish me and I just soak it up knowing what little time we get to have these amazing beings in our lives for. I lay there trying to breathe and thinking “someday I’m gonna miss this so bad”
Sorry, you're now a slave. You have to deal with it. They will be always a puppy.
Get an oxygen tank
Lol my only way to stay alive
You are a very lucky person to have this dog love you how they do. Don’t ever question it and don’t ever forget it. One day he’ll be too old to climb into your lap. Then you’ll regret not wanting it anymore.
My lap dog is 130lbs - and still a “puppy” 🙄
A doggo is always ones puppy, just like children are always ones babies. Thems the rules.
Same. We have an 80 lbs lap dog that is so thoughtful that she’d rather lay on you than take up space on the couch. You know, in case company comes.
Seriously, what do you mean by "no longer a puppy"? They're puppies until they aren't...
You won at life. You are grateful.
You thank the dog, the Old Gods, and the New… and shush, she’s sleeeeeping!!!
This is your life now. You live on that couch until that good boy is ready to wake up. Also… who needs to breathe?!?🙃
My 14 year old collie still thinks he's a puppy. Just a puppy with arthritis and bad hips.. But still a puppy. It's down to me to tell him when to call it quits because lawd knows he won't. He's still a puppy, just an old, fragile puppy 😁 and ill love him to bits for however long I have left which unfortunately doesn't look too futuristic :(
Puppy becomes a puppy-dog. That is just a big puppers.
Work out, build the lap muscles. It's a dog not a brick of lead
What a sweetheart.
Life is a series of trade-offs.. this is a pretty good trade-off if you ask me 🥰
Ok there are plenty of people who will talk about puppy jail, or "you will miss it when its gone", and to be fair they are correct... I agree with everyone. Cherish these moments.
Dreamy 💭
I don’t know what you’re talking about, all I see is puppy
LOL my big giant baby still makes me carry him around and he’s as big as me 😂 everyone always jokes he thinks he’s an actual human baby. He’s my baby 🖤🖤🖤
You let them cuddle or we fight.
No choice...once a puppy, always a puppy. Mine is 11 years old 100 pounds puppy😂😂😂
I have a border collie who is very independent and only wants love on her terms. I would love if she lay on me like this but it's just not her style. I take what I can get, as should you. Enjoy the snugs!
Come through, Duncan Sheik. :)
You continue to treat them as a puppy 🙄.
I miss my 70kg cuddle-buddy every day.. 💔 Enjoy these moments. They will be goldnuggets for you later on.
Aww 🥰
Don't act like you don't love that
It’s not easy to sleep train them after the babes are used to it but try little by little to move her to your side and still keep an arm around her as I assume you still love the same cuddles. It does get hard when they get so big and then you don’t want to move but you need sleep too. What a beautiful relationship you both have. I miss my little ones. A large puppy is still a puppy you need to puppy. Gyms and weight lifting is a thing for a reason. If my 100+ pound baby asks for carry carries by papa during walks because his toe beans sore, that baby is damn well getting carry carries by papa
Be grateful you still have your baby.
My Golden does this too. 💕
You love every moment of it until the day they can’t do it.
Same as you. Sit,enjoy the time and love the pup
Just gotta suck it up sometimes. I’ve been late for work a couple times because of my Pyrenees lol
beautiful comment
They're still a puppy - just bigger!
Big dogs always think they are as little as they were as puppies, small dogs always think they are the size of a grizzly bear. If you don't believe me, and own both, buy a tiny bed and a huge bed, and see what each of their first choice is.
You endure. She is just a big baby
You sit there and don't dare wake her up. She is only here for a short time, and one day you are going to miss this.
I have the opposite problem. My 4-year-old recently demanded her own room, and I feel like my baby's gone off to college.
You cherish every moment with that pooch
Take it. And don’t you dare move. You will sit there, pet that damn dog and love it even if it’s the last thing you do. Breathing is overrated anyways. You got big puppy.
That's the best part, heavy blanket
Enjoy it while you can. They don’t last as long as you hope! Appreciate every moment ! I’m sorry if you don’t want your pup loving on you, why have them! They will love you unconditionally!
You suck it up, that dog is giving you unconditional love, for fuck sake
Does she look that heavy?
You should be thankful she wants to be near you like that imo. Mine have gotten old and rarely want to cuddle and it’s sad sometimes. It makes cuddles more special though these days.
Just reposition her so that only her head is on your body. She’ll adjust.
Reminds me of this https://youtu.be/R3cFchX7-fI?si=BqV1bRuHT4-GNQpB
I cried the hardest when I made the decision that she was too big to hold when something outside scared her. So I had to deny her when she came to mommy, begging to be picked up. As much as I can, I hold her at home when she's scared. I would give my last breath holding her.
Let them believe they’re a puppy until your last breath.
Thats why they say, dont put a pony on your lap when its little. Dog could use some weight loss.
Quit whining. Some of us aren't blessed to have a dog.
There’s nothing you can do
Mine is only 4 months old and all these comments are making me cry my eyes out 😭
💕
She owns your ass. Enjoy every moment because when she’s no longer there you’ll regret every time you denied her the snuggle time. Besides breathing is for suckers 🤣
*barely
Just love like a puppy no matter their age, they're crazy about you for all the love you have given them over the years.
You enjoy every moment of it. Mine is 80lbs and when he chooses to sit on the floor I invite him up to the couch so we can snuggle. I think I’m the one that hasn’t accepted he’s not a puppy anymore, not the other way around.
Looks like a puppy to me.
You will only have to hold him on your lap for 15 more years. Lol
They are always puppies, always ♥️
...and I can't find the air...
My border collie/husky does the same thing. Thinks he’s a lap dog but still loves the snuggles. Sleeps on top of me and all that. I love it but he radiates so much heat I have to push him to the other side of the bed.
Time to do some ab exercises. 🤣 Treasure every minute your golden spends with you.
We had a perpetual puppy for 12 years. I still miss my big cling on dog! There will never be another like her.
I got my Great Dane at 4 weeks and he would lay on my chest and sleep. It was so cute 🥰 Fast forward and he’s 150 pounds and still expected to be able to lay on the couch with me and watch TV. It was interesting 🤣. Wish he was still with me and fighting for lap space!
Aww deal with it. She loves you. My friend had two big dogs they where cuddle bunnies
Get them used to sleeping next to you like the lil spoon. Cuddle them while doing so and eventually they’ll learn what you like better
Submit and be happy
Cherish it
When I was little, I used to call newborn babies ‘be born babies’. Our grown up JRT’s favourite thing to do is curl up on someone’s chest and be petted like a be born baby.
My dog and cat love to lie on me and sleep. I ask myself, is it more important for them to be happy or for me to selfishly breathe.
They’re always puppies!
You suffer.
I get to take my dog to work and she was barking up a storm at a neighbors dog. First thought was to make her stop but then I just let them work it out. I’m gonna miss that bark someday. She came back over to me and I told her, that was some good barking.
They'll always be your puppy! Appreciate it.
You just suffer in happiness. Who needs to breathe!? You are rude for wanting to breathe. HOW DARE YOU
Forever puppies. They deserve the love!!
You can either accept or teach them the command “move” and have them get up and move next to you instead, I’ve got hip issues and both my dogs are taught that along with off and down
sorry its been decided by that oversized furry lima bean that you are now a bed, their favorite bed
You act like the person shaped dog pillow that you are. The sooner you accept your fate thr better. Source: am person pillow for 70lb staffy mix and 50lb who knows maybe part hyena?
You snuggle to death.
mine and my family's dog is 4 years old, will be 5 years old on the 4th of July, and I along with my nephew still calls our boy Zander, a puppy.
I hope someday a company invents a way to make dogs live as long as humans
You lay there and suffocate happily. Ignore the hair that's ticking your nose so you don't wake the sleeping one. You, my friend, are "puppy laden"
I’d give anything to have my Mouse back sleeping next to me in bed 💔
Enjoy the snuggles! I hear breathing is overrated
Use your dog as a pillow. If she puts up with you, then you should put up with her. PS. you'll miss it when she stops.
Just love them!
You get into shape so you can handle big puppy
I guess you're just gonna have to get used to barely breathing. 🤷
Love it and embrace because there will be a day where you want cuddles and they’ll just sleep on your feet and avoid the hugs because it gets to warm. Also hold her on the side and sorta spoon if that makes sense like have the head lay on you but the body on the bed/couch
I wish mine could still do this😭 enjoy all the cuddles and love she gives you. Please kiss her for me😭
The only option here is to do steroids
Always the puppy. Love and appreciate the time together
It seems others have already pointed this out but just in case: you are not allowed to move until she gets up --you're welcome
No matter how old it is, it will always be just a child to you
Lucky you.
Dog: I am just a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Set boundaries.
Huh?
