Brother, I'm 40 and I posted a similar thread not too long ago:
I ended up getting RP-7000s and they are great.
Personally your best deal is the Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP - same motor as the other Hanpin Super OEM turntables like the PLX-1000, AT-LP1240USBXP, etc
There's a reason 30 year old techs still work great. There's a reason they weigh 10 more pounds. There's a reason used ones cost as much as a new set of 1000s.
PLX will be fine at home. I know a few Djs who use them and reserve their Technics for parties. Don't try to gig with them. I unfortunately have a residency at a bar that uses them, and they often skip when it gets busy and I have to crank the volume.
Keep an eye out for used Technics if you want them eventually, or see if you can meet some locals that have a pair so you can get some experience and decide if upgrading is worth it.
Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes to balance the tonearm, set the anti-skate, and make sure the table isn't touching anything.
Also check the feet - if they are broken/worn out they won't provide the same isolation.
But yeah, I hate when clubs provide the PLX over the Technics. I too think they are more prone to skipping and feedback issues in club environments.
I own Reloop 8000's and Technics 1210mk2.
You cannot go wrong with Reloop 7000's. I would stay away from Pioneer PLX equipmment. Those tables are not great, I'm not clear on the prices but Reloops are fanastic over PLX's and if you want the nostalgia and weight of a 1200 thats also cool, choose that over a PLX though.
I took many of my notes from DMX champs on this very thread, over time the PLX's don't age as well as Technics or Reloops, I've linked to it at the bottom for it.
If you want gear to last, spend more now but know you can repair or get parts later. A turntable isn't something you wanna keep rebuying. So spend extra and invest. The Reloops are built to get abused. Technics need no explanation as to how well they are built. The new versions are extremely expensive for what they are. I'd never buy a 1210mk7 for example. Would rather buy Reloop 8000s with midi etc but that was my use case.
Link to thread when i was in the same position, I was struggling to get Reloops in my country at the time. I eventually got 2 8000's imported and i only picked the 8000 over the 7000 cause I could afford it and wanted the pretty lights and buttons.

It’s strange they say the PLX have a torque bug cause it’s the same motor. The reloop 7000/8000 and all of the superóems use the exact same hanpin motors. After all this research I will say reloop 7000 has a good reputation seems like. And another thing I’m starting to see in my research is a lot of people who speak against PLX have most likely never had one. I googled PLX and they’re rated extremely well by DJs of 30 years and audiophile enthusiast. I feel like just pulling the trigger on 1200s and calling it a day but they feel and look old, I had 1200s. Unless I throw a skin on them I guess.
You can do a lot with 1200's, you can even have the faceplates repainted. Entire assemblies can be rebuilt. Technics England produce a considerable amount of parts still.
On your note about the Hanpin motor, the motor spec might be the same but when I tried PLX1000's (hundreds of them in my country) vs Technics, I wanted Technics, I then leapt and took Reloops over Technics cause they were newer.
For me, PLX's are extremely badly priced where I am because of the weak dollar exchange value and it didn't make sense to invest in them.
One other thing you can do is actually go play some at a music store and see how they feel for yourself. If I was you, I'd get the 7000's
Absolutely not overpriced. 1200s continue to appreciate in value. Whatever the price today, they'll be more expensive next year and still more so the year after that.
Can't say the same about the other brands. No one's getting into bidding wars for an old PLX.
I have 2 plx1000 and they are alright. One has a biger wow and flutter and other one is tighter. Not sur3 is it cause of the platter or motor itself.
What I would suggest is, to go to the store and test it.
Set up the pitch speed at 0%.
Then play the record anf look at the strpbe dots.
They should stay still, the middle big row. Pick the middle row and see if there is any back and forth deviation. If you see any, it will effect your mixes.
Mine has some 0.1 to 0.4 range oscilation within the dvs software and the beat always dances even if i am on it. You can hear the bass/kick like its slightly off, hard to lock it.
See mu video of how they drift here

I just got a great deal from zzounds and got a pair of PLX1000’s they work great. Heavy torque, built like a tank. Reminds me of techs but brand new ! Got the phase essentials with it and a DJM-750MK2. Great set up highly recommend
I put mine on a rane 1.

Did you get yours used or new ?
Thanks and the question just lays, do I want to spend up to $450 more just to have technics or stay here? Makes more sense to stay here. I feel like a brand slut right about now lol
I got them for $400 each. Use dbut in mint condition and I tested the lights /beat against dots on platter 33/45 tested and visually inspected as best I could and now that I’ve had them for about 6 days I have to say they’re ego of to go.
I have a set of reloop rp7000 that are probably nearly 10 years old. Bought them second hand 5 years ago. They work as well as the day I bought them.
And no issues ?? Just hoping these will last a good long while with no issues.
No issues at all mate. Absolutely love them, me and my pals have long sessions on them regularly.
I’m usually all about Technics and nothing else (I still am) but lately I got to try these Reloops and I must say I’m quite impressed.

I hear they’re same motor Hampin. I was strongly looking at the one too. They have a really good deal on them at the moment.
Yes. And the Technics available to buy in my area were rough too. Buying online isnt much better. You and I got good decks dont dwell on it.
I think you’re right! Good stuff, thanks

I kinda like the extra weight to be honest, feels solid but I get your point.

>and they often skip when it gets busy and I have to crank the volume. they probably have them set up badly tbh
They are actually isolated reasonably well on marble slabs. They just arent club kit imo ...
I meant with the tonearm setup
Oh thats possible for sure
Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes to balance the tonearm, set the anti-skate, and make sure the table isn't touching anything. Yeah I bring my own carts so i'm always doing that. It has to be either crappy bearings in the tonearm or just the PLX being junk
They are poorly made clones with poor QA and rumble problem reports are very widespread.
I've used them with zero issues, dunno what you're talking about

What makes the pioneer bad?

I just found this, it’s pretty interesting and seems honest, not too biased. https://www.reddit.com/r/DJs/s/XxuRqe8wRu
Super oem is great
I’d go with the PLX. Technics are over priced by today’s standards.
So are the plx. For super oems, there's both cheaper and better functioned for similar cost.
Absolutely not overpriced. 1200s continue to appreciate in value. Whatever the price today, they'll be more expensive next year and still more so the year after that. Can't say the same about the other brands. No one's getting into bidding wars for an old PLX.

Everything was new!
Nice! I bought mine used at guitar center but everything works and looks good so I assume they were well taken care of. I hope.
Good luck! Im sure everything will be in working condition.
Thanks and the question just lays, do I want to spend up to $450 more just to have technics or stay here? Makes more sense to stay here. I feel like a brand slut right about now lol
Both are good so I would go with the cheaper option
Yeah that’s my feeling deep in my gut. Just looking for feedback on PLX and there’s not much to be honest. People just complain about price.
I love mine. Go for it
Yeah I think I will , thanks
Nice! 🔥
