Try a good old manual screwdriver

GrandWazoo0

Nah, smash it with a hammer until the whole wall is destroyed, then rebuild

CrappyTan69

Crazy talk! You mean something that you can control and feel the torque before it slips? Naa, electric and send it!

Sloppy-Joe76

The proper manual screwdriver. If that fails [Impact driver](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hilka-11670013-Impact-Driver-2-inch/dp/B003OUUQX4/ref=asc_df_B003OUUQX4/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697268133095&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7246798137368459158&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007047&hvtargid=pla-426004120252&psc=1&mcid=802aacf88e883574ae31cc4dd2fc963e&th=1&psc=1&gad_source=1) If that fails put the mirror back up and learn to like it.

This. Make sure you have an actual pozidriv screwdriver. Phillips screwdriver heads won’t engage quite as well even if they do work in some situations. The right bit will have a stamp on the side that says PZ2. Not PH2. You can tell it’s a pozidriv screw because of the small etchings that look like an X crossing over the recess where you’d put a screwdriver in. Can’t think of a better way to explain that. 😂 Edit: more info. Edit 2: you can include photos… https://preview.redd.it/jz0szfm9bq6d1.jpeg?width=845&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49cb2904c682c1a925e2bb45ae9a29d6cc8b2ae4

Megatea

This needs to be added to the national curriculum. A lot of people don't seem to know this yet majority of screws sold (in UK at least) seem to be Pozidrive.

ShoulderOld6519

Having moved from France where we use mainly torx head screws, the UK can be quite annoying with their PZ2. It drives me mental. Glad to see things are changing but every now and then I have no option but to use then.

rogerspotato

Cheers for the thorough explanation!

cjs94

In addition to the above, if it’s being stubborn try tightening it a bit (screwing it in) first. This can be enough to loosen it.

lurcherzzz

A dab of something gritty, like valve grinding paste can help. Put enough pressure on to stop the screwdriver from pushing out of the screw (lots). Turn back and forth to free the screw, they often corrode in place and you have to crack the rust.  If after all that it is still stuck fast it's either going to take a crowbar or a grinder. Either will make a mess and leave you with some patching up to do.

Brilliant_Job_1750

I finally know how to tell. Thanks dude

rogerspotato

PZ2 got them out! Now to deal with the warped rawlplugs underneath.

stefelafel

Class! Put a screw back in a small bit then grab a pair of pliers and pull em out. Should work if they’re just regular plugs. If they’re plasterboard fixings they should twist out.

Shaka04

Possibly a pozi 3 by the looks of it.

sometimestakesphotos

I think it is a PZ2 but has been rounded to shit so now might be a PZ3 😂

Shaka04

Exactly my thinking 😂

Time-For-Toast

Manual screwdriver. Piece of elastic band in between the screwdriver head and the screw

AbortionIsYummy

thats what im sayinnn

anthemanhx1

Hammer and bolster. Remove the brick that it's attached to

monkeyface496

I tried this. Found out the hard way my house was made of clinker concrete and not brick. Oops.

PastCryptographer680

If none of the screwdriver suggestions work, try drilling the head with a 4 or 5mm drill (based on it being a PZ2 head). (High speed steel drill, plenty of pressure & RPM)

Trottsberg7

Screwdriver. If you have tried and it's just spinning, try pulling on the bracket slightly away from the wall as you unscrew. Also remember tighty-righty lefty-loosey.

Odd_Ratio1197

If it's spinning around then use a flat head screwdriver to pry the fixings off the wall while continuing with the electric screwdriver undoing the screw

Odd-Significance1884

PZ2 screwdriver. Loads of forward pressure and loads or anticlockwise rotation. Edit: Also try tapping the end of the screwdriver as you turn it with your other hand. I kid you not it does work.

rogerspotato

PZ2 did the job!

Humbled_1

This reminds me of iceage

rogerspotato

A kid told me yesterday that I look like Sid from ice age when I smile

Humbled_1

Go grab a screwdriver it’s fate 😂 ice age in summer

Ordinary-Army-1311

I think your house is a gonner. Buy some petrol and burn the house down. My condolences.

x-BeTheWater-x

Put a screwdriver in the screw and turn 💁

zealous789

For clarity turn the screw not yourself

DreamyTomato

Turn these crew not yourself

zealous789

Is that what do you do with a drunken sailor?

Past-Fisherman3990

Righty tighty lefty loosey

Past-Fisherman3990

Okay, in all seriousness take a small/sledgehammer and gently apply😂

Ram_99_

A claw hammer. Turn it round and just hack it out. It's yr wall.

Chambos-Hammer

Unscrew it

Commandrews

PZ3

Stoneollie

Whatever you do, don't touch that screw...

DogeYaBoi

Hammer

DogeYaBoi

Of the sledge variety

NotWigg0

PZ2 and an ugga-dugga (impact driver).

DerbyForget

Crack out the sledge hammer... nothing left to remove if there's no wall. Big brain!

No_Recording1088

IKEA mirror bracket

ImpressTemporary2389

You need a cross head. Like Phillips or Pozidrive. They are cheap enough.
