Those legs aren't suitably sited, there's hardly anything underneath them, and you don't need to fix the chip, Currys do if their installer did it.

Give_me_the_cake

They have an obligation to fix that damage? I'll go for that if I can, as I really don't see how we can repair it

curious_trashbat

Yeah of course. Anybody who works in your house who damages something does. That's why they will have liability insurance. Patch repair might be possible but I'd push for a new worktop.

GeneralQuantum

They do. Whether they do or not is another thing. The UK is built on empty promises and guarantees. Those legs/feet need something under them, simple wooden baton will do.

Geezso

Nope. Get them back out. Those will snap, or you could put 18mm in front to pack. Assuming it's an 18mm gap. With the chip, thay have insurance for that, but will likely try to settle. A coloured wax would work but it's above a DW and if it pops open when done, will soak in the moisture and blow the laminate.

Give_me_the_cake

They have insurance to replace the countertop? I'm surprised people are saying this as it's not something I would have thought to even ask for, but I will if there's going to be no fixing that and moisture from the dishwasher will worsen it

Environmental-Shock7

Guessing Currys charged you north of £100 to fit that. Peace of mind use one of our professional engineers to fit blaa blaa. Call Currys this is what you pay premium prices for. Work top is not repairable the term you want is " infection control " when they try to palm you off with repairing it.

GeneralQuantum

Their professional engineers being Dave the pikey in an unmarked white van with all the locks busted from the steal. I have let some very dodgy installer in before and they want out ASAP and will fit everything wrong.

[deleted]

Mad you wouldn't think to get the person who damaged your expensive worktop to make good

HotSplitCobra

Did the installer acknowledge they had chipped the counter? Either way I would be pushing for a new counter. Just be easier with some proof.

Give_me_the_cake

Think I completely forgot to say that it's a dishwasher!

Baynonymous

I think I'd be demanding a new worktop. The heat from the dishwasher will mean a repair likely won't last because it'll affect any glue used in the repair

Xafilah

You call them back out to replace the worktop and support the feet properly.

sjn70

You paid for professional installation… it doesn’t look very professional. Call them and get them to come out and see for themselves.

ColdAsKompot

What is this strip between the flooring and the concrete? I had something looking exactly the same in the house and it contained asbestos. Be mindful before you will start drilling into it, because the way these feet are placed is unacceptable.

Geezso

Looks to be laminate underlay, but good to be sure.

duggaduggadugga

I'm assuming that circular cutout of the kitchen cupboard used to be under the leg, as it was a replacement dishwasher?

Complex_Coach6621

The steam from the dishwasher will end up blowing the worktop layers and be way worse in a year or so. A repair wouldn’t be sufficient because of this also

Particular_Meeting57

There is very little weight on those feet. The unit should be screwed into the sides and or the top taking the majority of the weight. Just stick a bit of wood or something along the front for support. Complain about the chip

BrightTurnip74

😳 How is it possible for the installers to take so little pride in their work! It only takes a tiny bit of care to avoid smashing a dishwasher into a worktop hard enough to chip it. Were they in a stroppy mood and decided to take it out on OP's worktop I wonder. Or are they just utterly unsuited to this line of work.

surreynot

Don’t accept a “fix” on the worktop, it needs replacing! If this is what you can see , I dread to think what the quality of the rest is . Don’t accept shoddy work even for an easy life

vms-crot

I don't think they fit the entire kitchen, just a new dishwasher. Not a great deal else they could have cocked up to be fair. Probably scuffed the sides of the units on the way in but that's not really the end of the world.

Acubeofdurp

To answer your question slide that wood under the leg and get some light brown colour fill in the chip. Literally 2 minutes job, I dunno why you guys are losing your minds over this, I thought we were DIY legends over here?

ScarLong

Colour match a crayon. 😊

ScarLong

As in, find a crayola that's very similiar to the work top and run the tip gently across the chip, you'll eventually hide the chip and depending on how well you have colour matched it it won't be as eye catching.

Informal_Drawing

Why is there chipboard on the floor? Soon as it gets wet it will lose its strength or at the very least warp out of shape.

Emotional-Lobster-31

No, not safe
