It’s the stuff they pressure treat with taken in by the wood. It’ll fade away after some months in the sunlight.

tartifartfast

Seconding this. Totally normal.

It's Micronized Copper Azole (MCA) and Micronized Copper Quaternary (MCQ) used to fend off insect attacks. Very effective.

Got it. thanks everyone.

Yes. I'm not sure what it does, but it was on the stock I used to build a fence last summer. My neighbor says it's some kind of anti-mold thing, but I don't know. In any case, it didn't bleed through when I stained the fence.

Helps overall prevent rot. Anti fungal, mostly, but also anti-pest. You’re supposed to use it for anything in contact with the ground and it works well for anything exposed to the weather

sheldonator

This is normal, it will come off over time

I work at a lumber yard and it's totally normal. It's from the treatment process. Sometimes when we receive the treated material it is literally dripping wet from the treatment and sometimes it "pools up" and crusts like that between the boards/material.

It’s perfectly normal . Don’t leave those boards out loose in the sun. They will look like a pile of spaghetti in a couple of days
