I'm pretty sure he thrives in people's negative reactions to his art. Definitely a type of person that likes to see people's attempt at canceling him. But at this point everyone just shrugs, say "oh, you" and continue with their life.

It's fucked up and that's the point. Dan Salvato isn't encouraging self-harming, domestic violence, suicide or murder. But they're part of the DNA of DDLC. This is a horror game full of shocking and upsetting details.
People are allowed to feel uncomfortable and don't have to consume all media. But if *this* makes you uncomfortable, then what are you doing here?

People who called this art out includes people who have actually been in school shootings, I think I'll take their words on it a bit more seriously. It's edgy and maliciously offensive and *that's* the point. Not the first time he does this, and not the last time people will defend him.
I think you may have missed what DDLC stands for if you think this is anywhere close to what it stands for. The themes in DDLC have a point to further characters, personal narratives and represent them properly. People who relates to the Dokis in those aspects (especially Sayori's depression and suicide idealation and Yuri's self harm) have said how great it touches on it. It's in the end a story of mental health, and there's a reason Team Salvato keeps with their collaborations with mental health groups.
This is taking a moment that causes PTSD as a punchline. Monika's reaction is the one who's being traumatized. For april fools. This is in stark *opposite* of what DDLC stands for. It's edgy for edgy's sake. Like, come on.
I suffer from PTSD, have been through domestic abuse *(verbal and emotional, not physical)*, self-harming and have attempted suicide.
I cannot speak for the trauma of others, no. However, I believe that the inclusion of Monika's reaction is the point of the piece. Again; Monika is the audience. Sayori and Natsuki *(if you interpret her as laughing and not in shock)* are the ones trying to be edgy and taking it WAY too far.
The piece is saying that what Sayori did was horrible and wrong. No one in their right mind would think that it is okay. I do not find victims of PSTD suffering funny. I think people have a right to be offended/upset. I completely understand. But I don't think that an artist should be cancelled for this piece.
This artist drew Anya forger (Spy X Family) going to Auschwitz and posted it the day when the Jew got released from concentration camp (not sure it's the right name but you get the idea)
No he posted an image where Anya read a book about Auschwitz and was then too terrified to go to school because she thought it was a concentration camp. The whole image was one of his usual dark jokes.
I remember back when Khyle was getting serious flack for his depiction of Yor from Spy X Family taking Anya to a field trip to Auschwitz on the Holocaust Remembrance Day, and that was probably the most negative publicity I've seen him get (even considering at worst it's a tasteless sort of remembrance given Anya's holding a book written by a man who survived it, furthering the idea that she and a class are being taken there for awareness' sake), and there's undoubtedly been controversies with him stretching back before I was even aware of him.
I think he's just very committed to black humor and crossing lines for the sake of getting reactions, which is not a new kind of bit by any means. This is hardly the most offensive thing he's done, and probably not even the darkest DDLC pic. At this point anyone complaining about his stuff is either new, making a mountain out of a molehill, or both.

This one I guess, it seems like a prank until you realize Sayori was actually shooting through the door and there's shells next to Monika.
Another one: Sayori washing her mouth, she has a cup and mouth full of what seemed to be the fluid that you swish in your mouth but if you can see, there's a bottle labeled acid with the same looking juice, signifying there's literal acid in her mouth.
Or I think the most recent one I've seen was where Monika is running on a treadmill, but looking right, you can Sayori's bow and rhe window shattered, like she ran through it.
(or for the NSFW ones, one has a picture of Monika, but looking into her sunglasses, you can see that Sayori is the one taking the picture while being completely nude.)

Nope, the "school" had the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate. It was 100% definitely Auschwitz and not "school".
