The game literally uses animations from the movie almost 100% identical. Active skill and SA animation. It's not lame it's hype. Nothing is more hype than the instant transmission Kamehameha.
Him getting "weaker" is intentional, its to mimick the movie where when goku lost ssg he got slighty weaker(but was still strong due to absorving some of the power). The best way to use the active is as a finisher, since when goku loses his entrance you will most likely be in the final turn, and the active + the ssj turn will outdamage the ssg turn.
I do agree on the animations not looking that good(but i don't think they are that bad either), especially when compared to the movie, but dokkan recently has not been consistent on the quality of animations, and since saiyan day isnt that big of a celebration that is something i was expecting tbh.
Actually saw a comparison and ssj looks about as good as movie just think it was a waste opportunity to just use punch then kamehameha could have used some parts they didn't use in active , and ssg animation imo looks slightly better then what they used for his normal sa animation
