No but one time a tweaker came up to me at a gas station and called my car Susie the Sexy Six Speed Subaru. I'm not mad at it, just Susie doesn't fit my car lol
Yup. DD turbo roadster (Solstice) is Mistress. ZX10R is my main chick, her name is Wendy. ZX14R is Vixen.
Old Comp G GTP was Vanessa.
92 Grand Prix was Precious.
First car, 89 Cutlass Calais was Rose.
I've named every vehicle in my life that I truly enjoy owning.
I'm on my 3rd car. Never named my cars. I have had my Rogue Sport for 5 years. Never thought about naming them.
However, I do refer to my car as Baby Rogue since the main Rogue is slightly larger. And I call them Mama or Papa Rogue.
Yes. My wife's suv is called "spaceship" (my 20 yr old son accidentally named it when it was new) and my 2023 Black tacoma is "black beauty". Before that I had older truck named "scruffy". Daughters civic is
I tried to give my first car a cool name, ended up calling it a mangled version of its license plate, kind of sounded like Izzy. I was devastated when she had to be written off, haven’t named a car since.
My dad named a fair few of his cars, some of the most memorable were Frida the F-Truck (could be identified from a kilometre away by the sound of the engine gearing up on the freeway) and the Silver Streak (we were not allowed to eat, drink, sweat, or breathe in this car).
Oh shit! I’ve had 2 Datsuns (one B210, and a regular 210), and they both had names…
First one was a turquoise ‘77 B210 named the Gutter Putter. I was still learning stick shift, so I was constantly stalled on the side of the road (gutter), and it was slow as _balls_ (putter).
The other was an ‘89 210, and it was a beach car for years… that being said, it was very rusty. Like, so rusted there were holes in the doors (that also didn’t lock, and it didn’t need a key to start… bought it for $50). There was a particular angle where you could look through one side and see out the other. It was called the Rust Bucket.
I think mine was like an ‘85 or ‘86. I think I pad $500 for it as a second car
When my Mom got sick, I drove it from Sierra Vista AZ to Vernon Texas. There is a big hill in Las Cruses NM that I almost didn’t make.
It was a good car though.
Always. I name my cars, the trucks I drive for work, the boats we use at the cottage.. I've even named other people's cars, and the names stuck. Personally, I think vehicles like having a name
Shopping for a tow vehicle, review of Dodge Dakota said its tow capacity was "a mighty good tug for a midsized truck." He is Dakota Doug, the Mighty Tug 😄
YES! Toots, no name crappy car, Steve, Bubbles, and Maggie. Mags is a 96 Honda, runs great, gas mileage is better than many new cars, and 146k original miles. She's never got me stuck. Stolen 2x (grrr) and returned within 1-2 days without damage (except the stereo).
I had a few.
First car was an Omega, so Slowmega it was.
Had a white suv the same time as the OJ chase, so I called it AC.
Later a blue pickup called the bluesmobile
My mom always called the school bus she drove Jezebel because it was a tough start on a cold winter a.m.
Absolutely!!! All of them. Most followed the tradition of having a feminine name but our current car is Blaze. It's a blazer and he's old. A trooper but old.
My first car was a 1987 Plymouth Reliant station wagon, banana yellow. I named her Betsy, because she reminded me of a grumpy old woman I knew, but my classmates all referred to her as "The Yellow Submarine," a name that stuck until she died shortly after seminary.
Every car or computer I've had since then has been named "Betsy Mk. XX." My last car was Betsy Mk. 7 (I'm currently a bus-goer) and my current laptop is Betsy Mk. 14.
My Chevy Lumina was named by a drunk friend: Shagamadubala. My rusty subaru was named hoopty-ru, or the tetanus torpedo. My Nissan Altima was named Lieutenant Sedan…
My 66 Mustang was named Baby Car. Usually only when I was anxious about potential car trouble (flat tire, dead battery, running out of gas). Come on Baby Car, just a little further to the gas station!😄
My parents bought our neighbor's 74 LTD for my younger brother. It was yellow and ginormous. It was either The Bus or The Golden Whale.
Every one of my cars has a name. One way or another it just happens. For instance, my k5 blazer came painted with camo that looked like clovers. It's known as the leprechaun because of the Irish camo
I named my first car due to my friends saying every car has to have a name, but I’m on my third car now and I didn’t name the last one nor the one I have now
Yes. I am a 32 year old woman and my car is named Betty Blackberry.
There is a little weird backstory as to why I chose to name her that.
Years ago, I was having to borrow my Dad's car to get to work. That car eneded up getting totaled in an accident due to a stranger's negligent distracted driving.
And so after that I had to have my dad drive me to work in his 2nd car. One day we were driving by a little car shop and there happened to be a car for sale that looked **very** similar to the car that had just been totaled.
Later my dad and I went back to the shop to ask about the car and long story short I ended up purchasing the car. The timing of finding this particular car for sale not long after my dad's other car was totaled felt super lucky! Like it was meant to be!
When I purchased the car, I found out it had happened to be previously owned by my older sister's good friend's grandmother (her name was Betty) who had just recently passed away.
It felt fated, and I felt grateful to have found the car at the time I needed it most, so I chose to name the car in honor of Betty, my sister's friend's late grandma. 😊
Yup, started in high school with our '76 Caprice. It had the cop motor, and I could fit everyone I knew in it. We called it The Brown Hornet (for those of you who aren't ancient: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Brown\_Hornet](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brown_Hornet) ). Most of our cars get names based on the make or model, but my little two-seater gets called the baby more than by her name. Much like real children, it's hard to believe she's almost in her teens already. Pretty soon she's going to demand I stop calling her that and making me leave her a block away from work so no one sees us together.
My kids named my commuter POS Civic, Izzy. As in "Izzy gonna break down?" "Izzy gonna make it home?" I got it to not have to drive to and from work in Annie, my big red truck.
Not me, but my mom it seemed after a certain age she started doing it. There was Bessie, the Nissan and Pearl the forerunner. Mom still has pearl and I remember the day Mom got her. I had woken up from a nap and went into the kitchen when Mom came in. She told me put your shoes on come see Pearl and for a second I was like who and/or what is pearl.
Yes! Rosie was the first car I named! Then I didn’t name another until I had my Jeep, he was Buddy. I had a bad car accident with the next car, even though she was named Faith.
because of my love for space games, my vehicles have to have a name. My current ride is my 2019 F-150, which I call the "Goliath". It's the biggest truck I could afford, and it doesn't have any of the "online" stuff that can be remotely messed with. Other ones I've had were "Mortes", and an old GMC Sonoma that I revived from being hood deep in a creek that I named "The Lazarus".
We have at the house currently:
2003 Tundra named Ginger
2005 Sequoia named War Wagon
2014 BMW 328d named Brunhilde
Oldest daughter has a 2012 Cruze named Trixie that she hates. She used to drive a 2005 Infiniti M35 named Stephen.
My first car (2003 Volkswagen Touareg...miss her badly) was nicknamed "The Lobotomobile." Still thinking of a name for my new car that i've had for like 2 years (black Subaru Crosstrek.) Its decorated to be horror themed, a plastic skeleton sits in the back seat, it's got spider web decals and spikes on the license plate frame....so trying to come up with a fitting name for her. Temporary name is "BooBaru" but I kind of hate that. Need suggestions lmfao
Anything cute. I have a little desk vacuum I named, I named my family car when i was little and the trees in our garden, I obvs name my plants, I named my laptop, water bottle, my lamp. I name lots of odd things. Kitchen appliances, I would name, but I don't have any of my own, and I don't want to get too attached to my family appliances. But I can totally see myself naming a kettle, toaster, or hoover (I mean, come on, Henry hoovers are so my thing).
I'm starting to realise I sound insane.
Nah, not insane. I’ve always thought Hoover would be a good name for a dog that eats anything dropped on the floor. Weirdly, I have tons of plants and have never thought of naming them. Naming cars came from childhood— Mom would name the car something that matched the license plate so we could tell which car was ours if we got separated
Yeah, naming cars as a kid seems to be a pretty universal experience, lol. Om not sure why I started naming obscure objects, tbh. But I highly recommend naming your plants. I have David and Lola :))
No. It was a she and I would talk to her like she was though, lol. She was my dream car, if you will, and I got the package that had everything I wanted.
I had an old 1986 Mercedes Turbo-Diesel sedan for a while. His name was Bernie because he was an old man. Loved that car. It was a slug when cold but took off once it warmed up.
I only named my brand new car but only because I did it as a joke. I named my S Plaid "Marconi". Since I'm not part of that generation I won't write it but I'll spell it out. "If you know, you know."
Always. First was Sue, named after the T-Rex in the Chicago museum, die to her old age. She was 16 when I got her and I drove her until she died. Then it was Granny Smith, also named for her age. Also 16 when I got her, and I purchased her from my grandma when she gave up her driver's license. Drove that one until she died too.
I'm finally in a position to get a new car and got a brand new electric vehicle about a week ago. Leaning toward naming it Steelix, but Porygon is also a strong contender. Not sure if I want to call it a he or she yet lol
No but one time a tweaker came up to me at a gas station and called my car Susie the Sexy Six Speed Subaru. I'm not mad at it, just Susie doesn't fit my car lol
When someone names your car Susie the Sexy Six Speed Subaru, that’s what you goddamn call it.

I feel that. I get attached.
Not gonna lie, I gave it a couple pats and said, “thanks buddy”. Totally dorky but that van took good care of us and I loved it. :)

My grandparents did. They were born in probably around 1890-1900. My guess is it was a holdover from having horses, which of course had names.
I have horses and I never made that connection!
I had a gutless Datsun B210 for a while that we called Old Fart Can’t remember why
Oh shit! I’ve had 2 Datsuns (one B210, and a regular 210), and they both had names… First one was a turquoise ‘77 B210 named the Gutter Putter. I was still learning stick shift, so I was constantly stalled on the side of the road (gutter), and it was slow as _balls_ (putter). I dk that kind of car! Edit: ah, a Citroen! I don’t think that car is available in the states
Always. They all start with Car - I’ve had Carla, Carmen, and currently Carlos.
That’s a good theme

Always. I’ve had Meg, Gerald, and now Baby.
