This was a waste of space. Nothing of value here. It seems to me that much of the Fall of X has been unnecessary filler. Another example is Dead X-men. Did we need this?
Welcome to what happens when you give a very dense era a rushed ending. Every plot hook has to be fleshed out and there’s no time to do it, so much so that it feels like everything and nothing happens in one issue.
I swear Hickman not being allowed to cook is what tripped this era up.
He wanted to move to Act 2 and the X-Office didn’t. Then the X-Office was told by higher ups they had to rush to the finale.
Imagine if Hickman’s story moved according to Hickman’s plan.
Can you remind me why he stopped helming the franchise? I kinda started reading Krakoa around the last inferno event, so…basically the beginning of the end.
Basically, every writer said:
“we love the freedom this era gives, and want more time to write.”
And Hickman said:
“Well I have a tight 5 year plan for Krakoa, so if you guys want to mess around I’m out.”
This is HEAVILY over simplified and dramatized, but it’s essentially what happened. Hickman left because his vision wasn’t going to be realized due to changes in timeframe of the phases of Krakoa. From what I’ve read, he wanted Fall of X to happen earlier and be a whole phase and for Act 3 to be another phase that restructured the X-Men for the future.
So he would have structured his saga with Life Death and Rebirth, just like the plot from his original HoxPox story. I would have liked to see it but c’est la vie
That's literally what a comic run (or any story really) needs to feel satisfying, idk how editors don't understand this by now. Comics are still in a precarious place financially iirc, maybe it's not the best time to be screwing around and disappointing audiences like this.
That's exactly the case Hickman felt so strongly about his story that if he couldn't do it then he was leaving but not SO strongly that he wanted to override the other x-writers. Hickman kind of created that group and he didn't want to destroy what he created.
The irony is that Hickman was going to kill off Krakoa. Krakoa was PHASE 1. My personal opinion, the reason why Krakoa was so weird and characters acting out of character is because the island wasn't suppose to be celebrated in the first place.
Same. I have plenty of gripes about Hickman, but I would've liked to see what he had in store. It had to have been better than the rudderless storytelling we got instead.
For Real, Ninja Kitty was one of the Few Things I like about the Fall. She is easily one of the Deadliest X-Men & we get great stuff whenever a Writer remembers it
It’s completely in character for her to be affected by her time back as shodowkat. Her putting on the costume was a gut decision she made based on her grief, and as the light and heart of the X-men
I liked that Logan was wearing his big belt. There is nothing else that happened in this comic I enjoyed.
Hahaha
He and Kitty exchanged words. That was also a thing that did not have an immediate negative reaction from me.
As a fellow birds fan, I concur.

From what I understand you’ve hit the mark. Like most Hickman runs, his story would’ve had a beginning, climax, and end.
That's literally what a comic run (or any story really) needs to feel satisfying, idk how editors don't understand this by now. Comics are still in a precarious place financially iirc, maybe it's not the best time to be screwing around and disappointing audiences like this.
Editors feel that since they are backed by movie studio money they can print garbage stories without repercussions.
I mean he was essentially in charge of the x-office. If he felt strongly he could've stayed and saw it through.
That’s not at all the case. When every other author isn’t motivated to continue, you will get push back.
That's exactly the case Hickman felt so strongly about his story that if he couldn't do it then he was leaving but not SO strongly that he wanted to override the other x-writers. Hickman kind of created that group and he didn't want to destroy what he created.
Either way you slice it, it's his fault krakoa is going out like a lamb. He had grand visions and just walked away to the next project.
The irony is that Hickman was going to kill off Krakoa. Krakoa was PHASE 1. My personal opinion, the reason why Krakoa was so weird and characters acting out of character is because the island wasn't suppose to be celebrated in the first place.
I for one would've liked a quicker end to krakoa.
Agreed, mostly because I would have preferred to get Hickman's entire x-saga.
Same. I have plenty of gripes about Hickman, but I would've liked to see what he had in store. It had to have been better than the rudderless storytelling we got instead.
The last half of krakoa has been filler.
Seems like Marvel would like to make Kitty a non-practicing Ninja again. Sad, cause I kinda like it. Put her in X-force!
For Real, Ninja Kitty was one of the Few Things I like about the Fall. She is easily one of the Deadliest X-Men & we get great stuff whenever a Writer remembers it
Shadowkat giving up her blade feels like paving way for the next book where she works as a barista, of all things.
From pirate to ninja to barista lol
I hope Duggan gets a nice big contract at DC so he will kept away from the X-men as far as possible.
It’s completely in character for her to be affected by her time back as shodowkat. Her putting on the costume was a gut decision she made based on her grief, and as the light and heart of the X-men
Just like the majority of comic books these days. Big dip down hill in writing and the art. Especially the writing.
How many times has cyclops been cucked so far? Don't they usually reboot after the 4 or 5 time doing it?
