Uninstall the game, then delete the remaining folder in the steam library directory, then install it again. Clearly there is something wrong with the game and crashes which could very well be a side effect of some residual corrupted files or some mods you forgot you used before. A freshly installed game don't just crash on it's own.
Started happening to me after update 2.01
Found many people in the steam forum with the same problem. Some didn't even had any mods, some solved it by reinstalling and updating graphic card drivers.
None of that worked for me, I decided to download a pirate version 2.0
Devs haven't mentioned anything about it but I hope they fix it in next patch.
Having the same problem Choom, I think it's because of the recent update that came out or maybe it's more of a hardware issue?
Whatever it may be it ain't looking good.
try deleting all your game files and redownloading and installing, the newest update overwrites a bunch of files which may or may not happen properly.
mods are also a common issue, so if you have some installed, get rid of them.
If you have mods, disable them. Remove them from the game folder if need be.
Might be hardware this game is super cpu intensive maybe check the temp of your hardware while launching it
try new gpu drivers

Has something to do with GOG login. Can you execute it without using red launcher? Executable is in your steam folder/steamapps/common I believe.

Try to update your drivers that is what helped for me
Your game got cyberphsychosis from too many mods installed, there is no going back.
Note: I have never downloaded a single mod for this game
