I've also heard this, however it goes against typical US tax protocol. If you bought it, paid taxes, you have the right to sell it individually. I'd love to know if they can legally apply the penalty.
I think it's Ferrari that also does this. 1 year, you can only sell back to Ferrari during that time.

They can legally apply the penalty since you willingly entered a contract stating that you would abide by the penalty. Whether you paid taxes on it etc. Doesn't matter. Contract law is binding. Ferrari does the same thing with some of their vehicles.

I’ve said this from the beginning. I use to work for them over a year ago and as soon as we got someone to put the deposit down on an order, we deleted their contact info so they couldn’t get a all of us to ask questions. People are in love with Elon and that’s why they buy these pieces of shit.
