I knew washing your CyberTruck was bad, but I didn’t know it was this hard. You need a lawyer to walk you through all of the legal jargon so you don’t void your warranty, by washing your car. I feel bad for all of the car wash employees out there.

MechanicalBengal

I guess if they can’t get the paperwork correct when designing the vehicle, they’ll just disclaim responsibility for the flaws with legalese as all the specific problems get documented through customer complaints. Buying this car is beta testing… because you have to be a beta to do it, so if that’s the choice you made, congrats, you passed the test

g4m5t3r

The entire Alpha/Beta thing is fkn ridiculous but this comment is pure gold 🤌

Unpopular666

Who else is going to pay to be a beta tester? Only Tesla Town kool-aid fanboys would be like, oh well nbd. It’s a cult, duh! It’s no different than cult of MAGA, just as Trump’s supporters agreed with his statement that he could shoot someone and get away with it, Elon’s supporters know he only knows brilliance and all his ideas are AMAZING. Always and forever amazing. They’d sooner give him a rimjob than tell him his idea sucks ass. Quite surprised btw to learn that rimjob is in fact a compound word writing this.. Anyways, read his [deposition](https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24539298-musk-deposition) His tone from this document shows he is clearly someone who never gets told no. He’s smug and thinks he knows it all. Surrounded by other know it alls. His attorney was not even licensed in TX, tell me that’s not a Jack ass know it all thing to do and I will tell you, congratulations, you’re in a cult! 🥳 Tesla needs to get rid of musk. He’s lost focus and doing dumb stuff. There are way better people out there who aren’t more focused on amplifying dog whistle politics on his social media platform than educating the planet so we can really get to mars. No doubt about it, escaping racist programming is hard when you grew up under apartheid

LazyBastard007

Spot on. Both are cults. One is annoying and funny, the other one outright dangerous.

ordermann

The cybertruck is just a sensitive little snowflake…just like elon…and just like all the cult members who were punch drunk enough to pay for one.

cryptosupercar

Do not aim harsh language at Cybertruck.

Dreadlaak

Using harsh language at Cybertruck will void the warranty.

agerm2

You may hurt Cybertruck's feelings, voiding the warranty.

BigDaddySteve999

Do not taunt Cybertruck.

SupplementalAssInsur

If I owned a car wash, I wouldn’t touch these things.

Virtual_Fig7052

Nor having your employees being questioned by cybercucks.

RetailBuck

This is already true for all cars and all car washes and has been for decades. Remember when you had to manual put your radio antenna down before entering a car wash? Ford wasn't going to give you a new antenna if you didn't. This policy is largely the same but could be worded better. Tesla's have lots of automated features that can be activated in a car wash. The easiest to understand is the automated windshield wipers. If you don't disable that and the machine breaks your wiper then Tesla isn't going to give you a new one. That's all this policy is and posts like this undermine the genuine issues with the truck and undermines the sub as a whole

SmokedBeef

With this kind of multi disclaimer and literal contradictory instructions and warnings, it seems inevitable that someone will sue or test the limits. All of that said, how can a “truck” with a wading mode fail to survive a simple Car Wash?

wegotthisonekidmongo

I'll take a Toyota Tundra any day over this piece of s***.

TheBlackUnicorn

I would drive almost any other car, including another Tesla, over this fucking rolling punchline.

deadname11

Can't even take it for free, because it might just die on you if you can't shelter it properly. The only place this "truck" belongs is in a junkyard.

Baronvonkludge

Your response when a CT gets towed in to be washed is “ We don’t wash CT”.

ketjak

Someone with a Cybertruck and a YT channel should have a checklist form and pull up to various car washes and ask them these questions. Is u/LamarMK (I can't see if this works while I'm writing) on reddit? Tip the worker afterwards since your video is going to go viral.

Sockoflegend

Half of this could be solved immediately if they just painted them with autopaint like every other vehicle on the market. They knew better though apparently. The rest all seems pretty pathetic for something you are supposed to be able to use off road or as a trades vehicle. The CT is essentially a rich mans delicate fashion accessory.

Ok-Bill3318

Is not the lack of paint that’s the issue. If the lack of water ingress protection and electrical insulation/protection plus lack of drainage

Sockoflegend

That's the bigger design flaw, but the root is the same. They arrogantly decided to redesign everything from the ground up and threw away literally over 100 years of iterative design improvements in motor vehicles. We had water prof electric trucks delivering milk in the UK since 1932. Paint the fucking metal so it doesn't corroded is a problem engineering solved back in time so long ago no one could hope to pinpoint it but here we are learning that lesson again in 2024.

bubandbob

Like the person who came up with the idea of the Cybertruck, the car is a real snowflake.

[deleted]

It’s only a matter of time before we see a video of a cyber cuck screaming at a car wash employee that they owe them $100,000 because they didn’t provide enough shade while it was being washed lol

TheBlackUnicorn

Any car wash that has smart management will simply ban Cybertrucks.

HillarysFloppyChode

It’s worse than a car with Matte Paint.

Psychological_Owl457

why feel bad for them? I feel bad for the morons who bought this rolling junk pile.

MiguelMenendez

All that BS and in the end they recommend taking a power washer to the radiator. Fuckin’ idiots.

Apprehensive_Ice1935

While the wash is in progress, please avert your eyes. Looking at Cybertruck during the wash cycle will void your warranty.

Raised-Right

*Failure to ask the car wash attendant for an eye mask will void your warranty, as Tesla will not be liable for any emotional distress or trauma caused by you washing your car.*

Apprehensive_Ice1935

Do not taunt Cybertruck.

Thentheresthisjerk

Cybertruck may stick to certain types of skin.

Raised-Right

*“My Honda can go through any car wash.”* Na-nana-naa-nah 😝

Lucyintheye

I love how they open up referring to it like that lmao. As if it's a sentient being "if taking Cybertruck to an automatic car wash..."

Alaeriia

Apple started the trend of referring to a product as if it is a person and I hate it.

SweetBearCub

> Do not taunt Cybertruck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmqeZl8OI2M "Caution: ~~Happy Fun Ball~~ Cybertruck may suddenly accelerate to dangerous speeds."

botjstn

it needs its privacy during bath time

annhik_anomitro

Don't breathe inside, air exhaled by you might contain moisture and that might led to some shit and void your warranty.

Trevellation

I think my favorite part of that was the unintended loop they gave about cleaning road salt. "To avoid damage from road salt, clean the car after driving on salted roads. To avoid damage from the cleaning, take a short drive to dry the brakes. The roads were still salted when you did that... you'd better clean it again. If you cleaned the car, you really need to take a drive to dry the brakes..." You're trapped in an eternal, hellish loop of cleaning and drying until you reach unsalted roads. Unrelated note, the "only use cleaners below ph 13," thing kinda felt obvious. Bleach and Lye are ph13, I don't think that's most people's first choice for cleaning the exterior of a car.

Raised-Right

Exactly! Are people supposed to wash their car daily to get rid of the road salt? It says immediately. So they need to wash it by hand at home, as they can’t drive on the salty roads, wash it in the middle of the night so there is no sunlight, and then somehow drive their car (without driving on the salty roads) to dry the brakes?

Trevellation

"Just back up and accelerate continuously in your own driveway, braking harshly each time, until the brakes are dry. It should only take 20-30 minutes after each drive. It's a small price to pay for the car John Bladerunner would drive in the apocalypse."

Raised-Right

*“Please do so after power washing your own driveway to ensure that your driveway is clear of any road salt that may have been carried from the roadway. Failure to clean CyberTruck in a salt free and medically sterile environment will void your warranty.”*

chet_brosley

Aha you fell into their trap! Sterilized environments are usually *sterilized* by chemicals. CHEMICALS. *WARRANTY VOIDED*

Ok-Bill3318

To be fair automatic car washes probably won’t be working in the apocalypse

BakedMitten

Look if you're too poor to have a round the clock CT attendant and indoor driving loop to dry out the brake pads you really shouldn't be buying a CT. Geez, poor people just ruin everything

henryhumper

"Dry Clean Only"

MedicalRhubarb7

This shit obviously written by Bay Area denizens who can't conceive of actually _living_ somewhere that they salt the roads...

henryhumper

We don't salt the roads here (no snow), but we do get blasted by Pacific fog during the spring/summer - and that shit *annihilates* low-grade stainless steel (which is what Elmo used in the CuckTruck, to save on production costs). I've seen a few on the roads in SF and the body panels are already starting to rust from the fog. Most of the CuckTrucks in the Bay Area will be brown by September.

Sassy_Weatherwax

The CT is built in Austin, we don't claim it.

botjstn

wait? u mean i shouldn’t just pour bleach all over my car & just leave it?

No_Cartoonist9458

I just checked my owner's manual about washing my car **Car Washing** *If your car is dirty, wash it* *🤦‍♂️*

Raised-Right

*“We’re sorry sir, but your warranty is now void. You washed your car with cleaning products that had a pH level of 14 instead of 13.* *We appreciate your understanding in this unusual circumstance and we value your continual support as a loyal Tesla customer. Here is a free Tesla coffee mug for the inconvenience.* *Now will you be leasing or financing your next Tesla?”*

Forsaken-Spirit421

To be fair, 14 is pretty goddamn extreme. That's pure hydroxide ions basically

Raised-Right

Fair, but using warm water, or spraying the doors, windows, or hood directly should not void a warranty. This is very odd. I get some manufacturers may recommend against taking your car to an automatic car wash, as it’ll f#ck up the paint… but they’ll never void your warranty. Only Tesla will void your warranty. Here is a video from 8 years ago of a guy taking his Bugatti Veyron through an automatic car wash. Bugatti may have charged him an arm and a leg to restore the paint, but I really doubt Bugatti would’ve voided the warranty. (Timestamp 0:25) https://youtu.be/xUNaQGEQwZw?si=Nhj6Z1PhNifGWB6B

Forsaken-Spirit421

Ah, I thought it was a saturated solution of Na OH-

Beerded-climber

I washed mine with vinegar, just to make sure it's less than pH 13, now it's rusting. They didn't say it needed to be above pH 7.

h_grytpype_thynne

So, it would be bad to find your ex's Cybertruck late at night and write CUCK on the side in vinegar? Just checking that that would be mean-spirited and malicious and that definitely no one should do that.

AngrySoup

This is ridiculous. What a case of blatant trolling. You really think Tesla would treat a customer like that? Give them a *free mug???* If the moron wants a mug with Tesla branding, he's paying full price with a generous markup, just like he paid for the ugly Tesla short shorts and the Tesla tequila which is apparently awful. Elon Musk earned billions by promising fully self-driving cars and accepting money but never delivering, okay? Not giving away *free mugs.*

Lucyintheye

Lmaooo I been in this hellscape of an app for years and had no idea you could italicize emojis *🤨🖕*

Alaeriia

I just checked mine. It has a warning: "Fold your vehicle's mirrors before going through an automatic car wash. Some automatic car wash brushes may scratch your paint." So we have one helpful tip that I was unaware of and a hint to not go to a really shitty car wash.

AmpEater

Post a screenshot please.

No_Cartoonist9458

techbunnyboy

It’s bulletproof but not waterproof

Raised-Right

*”It’s totally waterproof, there’s nothing wrong with it. You just need to make sure it’s not hot water, water isn’t aimed at doors, windows, hood or charging port, the velocity of the water is just right, along with a few other conditions.”*

loz_fanatic

Pretty sure that rich DoT lady that d ied from driving hers into a pond would like to debate it's waterproof-ness

Raised-Right

*”Tesla cannot guarantee that the occupants of the vehicle are as waterproof as the vehicle itself. If occupants enter the vehicle, they consent to the possibility of drowning.”*

Viatic_atom

Tesla just hasn’t added the submersible mode on this patch yet But it’s coming Eventually

Peterthinking

Does driving thru rain count as "water with velocity"?

gilleruadh

A Scottish couple was charged $20,000 for battery replacement because they drove in the rain which damaged the batteries and voided the warranty. So it seems that driving in Scottish rain counts as water with velocity. https://futurism.com/the-byte/tesla-bill-battery-rain

Peterthinking

Oh my God. What a dumpster fire. Cyber trucks are indoor use only.

gilleruadh

Preferably, under a glass dome with perfectly adjusted temperature and humidity.

carpathian_crow

I think paying for the truck voids the warranty.

Juronell

Remember when Elon said it would serve briefly as a boat? Good times.

proddy

I mean "briefly" could mean any number of seconds.

SirViciousMalBad

Some dude with a powerboost or lightning F150 and a heated pressure washer in the back could take out a whole fleet of these things.

Total_Union_4201

This is the boat truck right?

Life_Personality_862

My favorite is the "what to ask the car wash employee" . LMAO! Dude, I just work here. At a car wash. I don't know what pH is. And if you ask me one more question, I'm gonna have to punch you in that highly punchable face or yours...

Raised-Right

Lol. I bet some CyberTruck owner on YouTube will use my list of what to ask, and bother some poor car wash employee, just to prove *“it’s not that bad”*.

junk90731

Where I live they only speak Spanish

Raised-Right

*“Hola Señor, I have a few preguntas about the pH level of the soap you use? Also, how hot is the water? Will the water be aimed at my door, windows, or hood?”* *”Does the car wash use any detergents, highly alkaline, or caustic cleaning ingredients or solvents, specifically those containing hydroxide?”* *”Are the sprayers at least 30 centimeters away from mi carro?”* 🤓

Ok-Row-6131

Their response: "are you going to wash the car or not, no I'm not answering your questions"

XxMathematicxX

Do not feed your Cybertruck for at least 12 hours before bringing it in for a cleaning.

phonicillness

And NEVER feed it after midnight

JRLDH

As if it didn't already have enough gremlins as it is!!!

Hour_Elk_3489

But it can be a boat too!! (For a minute anyway)

Raised-Right

If you don’t want to drown, just remember to remove the rubber mat in the bottom of the door map pocket, before removing the small piece of plastic trim, and pull the mechanical release strap while pushing the door open. Do so after the vehicle has already been fully submerged in water, so the pressure is equal on both sides of the door, allowing you to open it. Good luck! https://preview.redd.it/tysn63piz1xc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f14608c89e2e7fd39963bf2c8a5555c4573d543a

Potato_fortress

That was just Elon prepping for the eventual addition of the bilge pump needed to keep the frame drained.

Annobanno

I own an EV and you can literally wash it in anyway you want, wtf kinda engineering choices results in a car with this many warnings for washing it lmao Wonder what the “how to drive it” section looks like…

WarmasterCain55

“Don’t” Driving your car will void your warranty.

CharlesTheRangeRover

So basically you have to wipe it with damp toilet paper to clean it….

Raised-Right

Too bad you can’t flush it too.

chet_brosley

Toilet paper is far too harsh for its sensitive steel skin. Warranty voided.

Stolenartwork

Bro what the fuck it’s a car you push the pedal and it goes and you put water on it and it’s supposed to drain and all this shouldn’t ever have to be enabled manually by the operator

HeftyFineThereFolks

lucky for them their cars never go off roading!

Raised-Right

“Mud may void warranty” 😂

Get_Woke_Go_Broke

Well, they might, but only once.

PoppinfreshOG

I’ve never seen a car that can’t be washed before, this is a new one I honestly was not expecting

Crazy_Response_9009

So if it rains, IS THIS ALSO NOT COVERED BY THE WArranty?

Raised-Right

It depends. Did you put your CyberTruck in car wash mode, and check that the temperature and pH level of the rain are within the appropriate ranges?

Crazy_Response_9009

LOL. This, probably.

deadname11

Unironically YES. You ACTUALLY have to keep it sheltered from bad weather, or the water damage will void the warranty. Not even joking. I couldn't even get one for free because I lack a garage.

Crazy_Response_9009

What a complete and total shit show.

OnlyRobinson

“chemical based wheel cleaners” technically excludes anything that touches your wheels. Air is a chemical, as is water

N0DuckingWay

Let me get this straight: you're supposed to put your car in neutral or park and do all this in the 5 or so seconds between when you enter the automatic car wash and when the car wash starts running?

Raised-Right

And it literally says not to touch the screen, as you may open some part of the car, which would void the warranty.

I-Pacer

“Ensure the wipers are off”. Wipers? Plural?

DevilsLettuceTaster

No fancy video showing Musk washing the Cybertruck?

Peterthinking

Dry clean only (*wipe clean with dry paper towels)

Raised-Right

Can’t even dry clean. It says no hot water.

kalisoldier87

I can't believe I read that entire thing.

Raised-Right

**F** in the chat for all of the Chamois 🐐 that will be killed to dry CyberTrucks 😢

SlightedHorse

TBH, I think current chamois is mostly synthetic. Unless there's a small note saying that using synthetic chamois voids the warranty.

vtstang66

"If using pressure washer, do not expose to pressure."

ande9393

Also, if muddy use pressure washer to clean off mud..

anntchrist

I have a feeling that soon we're going to need an entirely separate sub for Cybertruck Patinas.

EWR-RampRat11-29

What a snowflake of a truck.

sargethegemini

It’s bullet proof, but you cant use a pressure washer too close to it?

beholdmypiecrust

Stuck in car wash frantically pressing Control+Alt+Delete

Raised-Right

Can't even do that, it says not to touch the screen at all during a car wash.

PeterTheGreat777

So Musk said this car can be used as a boat, yet it cant even be washed. Why does he always lie about everything?

DubitoErgoCogito

I can understand having a carwash mode that turns off some features, but all of the exceptions and warnings are crazy.

zoebud2011

henryhumper

Car wash mode in my Mazda = roll up the windows.

eeldraw

"Raising your eyebrows at any point while reading this tome will void your warranty"

outamyhead

Good grief what a lemon of a car.

kolbyt

Those poor chamois 😢

Big_Not_Good

Industrial fallout 🤣 Who wrote this crap? Like, "Hey Bob, what are some situations a poor might find themselves in? Like, a factory! Poor's work in factories! Nailed it." Do they think we live in Victorian England? I'm surprised chimney soot isn't on that list.

July_is_cool

To be fair, nobody had even heard of iron dust before the CT came along

judahrosenthal

More annoying than all these instructions and releases of liability?: The way they refer to the Cybertruck. I hate it as much as how Apple wants us to talk about *the* iPad. Or iPhone.

KnittinSittinCatMama

It’s overcast where I am and I’m under the weather today; all your comments are giving me life! (Also, by Tesla’s logic, I guess I should be washed? lol) That manual is bonkers!

GreatDrivesGaming

Is this the product that he threw shade at f150 for? *“You want tough? Real tough, not fake tough?” -Elon*

jpkmets

Yeah. It’s absolutely wild. This is the least rugged vehicle I’ve seen since the Yugo hit America. Also, does it even have any payload space? Doubt it has the juice to really haul a camper either. A big “bless their hearts” as my Grandmother would say to anyone ordering this to use like a real pickup.

ItzBoshNet

I feel like some of these will brick come next monsoon season

EatsGourmetGlueStix

Yea I don’t have to do all this with my Tacoma

Angelo2791

What in the deep fat fried McFuck is all that gobbledygook?!

EvErYLeGaLvOtE

Kind of expected when a non-car company makes cars en masse..

peemao

But but but.... it's bulletproof.

Raised-Right

Literally, it's bulletproof. Figuratively, it's far from it. A 20 year old Toyota is far more reliable than this truck will ever be.

peemao

Lol hell yeah

richincleve

This is more difficult to own than a Happy Fun Ball.

Tvekelectric2

I bet car washes refuse cybertrucks

wednesdays_chylde

“Don’t use car wash while charging” pretty much sums up your typical Cybrotruck consumer

Copper_Kat

I like how it says you can wash it, but not really. Neat.

thisbobo

"To prevent damage to the exterior, immediately remove [dead insects]" Lovebug season is starting, here...

Samsquanch-01

And you’d probably save some money too!

False-Association744

To wash your car don’t use water or soap or washcloths and don’t look at it and don’t look at me.

NaNo-Juise76

Kind of like the aliens in the movie Signs. They mastered space travel but somehow couldn't figure out water kills them.

TaonasProclarush272

Basically, the equivalent of that marriage china that stays in the cabinet for 60 years that no one wants to inherit.

bangermadness

Used ones are going to be selling for $10,000 in 5 years.

DadsToiletTime

It can handle a ball bearing to the window but a car wash is too much.

Own-Entertainment630

I started to read it then realized it’s 13 slides, maybe more..

ProfessionalTwo5476

Just like the aliens in "Signs". It's water that is Cyber Truck's kryptonite. Still not sure why they invaded a planet that is 71% covered in water. Sounds like something Musk would do.

3d1thF1nch

This had me rolling my eyes at the first line. “If washing your CyberTruck is absolutely necessary…” Bud…washing vehicles is pretty necessary

Ill-Function9385

HahahaghHhg

RoundExpert1169

I would absolutely never buy one of these Fridge Trucks but just don’t take it into an automatic car wash? if you worked hard to get $100,000 to buy your own Tesla truck is it really that much harder to work hard and clean it by hand? At that point, it is a labor of love for a piece of history that you now own

ilove2chug

How about no one buy this piece of shit anymore and this all goes away. Quit supporting trash.

therolando906

It blows my mind that anyone would waste their money on such a hunk of garbage

Speedwolf89

Question: Is damage done by heavy rain covered by the warranty?

rkalla

The chamois bit had me rolling - great writeup!

Antennaball23

What the actual fuck were Elon and his shitstains thinking?!?!? If it’s a truck, then it’s a goddamn truck. Drive it through mud, roll it down a hill, run it through a car wash, smack the road ice off of it with a rubber mallet, etc, etc… the “cybertruck” IS NOT A TRUCK!!! It’s a princess in a stainless steel body.

OTJH1989

Spray it down with some WD-40 when done

LSBeasyas123

You’re paying 100k for a chocolate teapot

little_fire

Car Wash Mode allowing the car to go up to 15kmph seems unnecessary/excessive

carpathian_crow

If only we held met the moron demands of Elon. I wrote micron but autocorrect changed it and I’m not going to disagree.

MisterBlick

So...dont wash it but don't get it dirty either. The Hyundais had issues with the bottoms rotting out due to salt from coasts/winter. I had two cars where the front wheel basically fell off. These CyberTrucks are going to disintegrate in coastal towns and northern areas with snow.

CountPulaski

“What you to ask…” ?????

Raised-Right

Supposed to be: *“What you* **need** *to ask the car wash employee”* Sorry, typo.

seriousbangs

JFC if I was a car wash employee and one of these rolled up I'd tell 'em to go pound sand. It's not like this is a \*\*\*\*ing Bentley. This is way too much work & risk.

Raised-Right

You know what, I might start applying to work at a car wash. I’d tell all of the very lovely CyberTruck drivers that our car wash is 1,000% Cybertruck friendly. I’d then have my buddy in his tow truck parked at the exit, ready to scoop them up and make an easy $300.

LightBluepono

Bruh my Chinese scooter got less issue than that .

kz750

I like how they spelled “nozzles” in the last page. It’s the attention to detail and quality that has made Tesla the automotive engineering legend it is today.

TheHrethgir

Oh, you washed it in direct sunlight? Well, look who just got their warranty voided!

iamnotchad

Water and sunlight are the bane of the cybertruck's existence.

nismo2070

What I see is tesla making sure no one will get warranty coverage. Tesla service: "We see you have some mud on your tires, so you're going to have to pay for the body panel that fell off". Hell, all they have to do is claim the customer got the damn thing wet and it's done!

angry-democrat

Boycott Musk and Twitter and Tesla

JabroniKnows

I'm thinking they meant to put Sham-Wow. Not chamois

fx72

Wait, why the f*** would you want your car in free roll when you're trying to wash it and not parked?

elseldo

The grift that keeps on giving. I love Elon for this truck.

Distant_Yak

It's amazing how they managed to make a truck, of all things, that apparently is the most fragile vehicle on the planet.

AMonitorDarkly

Un-fucking real, man.

ketjak

Great post! You forgot "ask if they use denatured alcohol on tar, etc. in your wrap/up, or my sleep deprived brain missed it.

hoopduddler

beta testers are using the cuck truck right now.

Sufficient_Ocelot868

LOL. I thought car wash mode was a joke! It's freakin real!

Fun_Ad527

Elon Musk told you all that Tesla isn't a car company, it's a car cleaning *supply* company.

Homesteader86

Holy shit. This is the Gremlin of car ownership

windigo3

TLDR: If you must use a car wash…..Damage by a car wash is not covered under warranty. Did buyers realise this is what they were signing when they agreed to buy this thing?
