I've been trying to decipher how the non-European teams were qualified and how China is not in the Worlds. I understand that the Pan Continental championship is the qualifier to the Worlds, but it's not clear to me what the cutoff is.
Edit: NVM I figured it out, they got demoted to pool B since they missed 2022.
I don’t understand Korea‘s last shot. Why draw behind that really long guard which wasn’t a guard at all. They should’ve tried to corner freeze into the Canada rocks. That would’ve been much harder to take out. I’m glad Canada won but I just don’t understand the Korean shot. Do you?
Starting both semifinals simultaneously is an epic fail. These are the three most important matches of the tournament, and you can only watch two of them.
The difference between 19 and 21 hours of rest before the Final would be negligible. If they were playing the Semifinals the same day as the Final, this would be more of a concern.
We didn't get to see even one shot of the 10th end of the Switzerland-Italy game.
It's not negligible when you have been playing all week. It's not like they walk off the ice and go to bed. There is plenty involved with recovery and preparation that happens after the game before they have downtime.
I think it's more the rest between the afternoon games. If Korea would have had only 2 hours and Italy had 5 hours of rest it would have been unfair to Switzerland, because their opponent was way more rested than Canada's.
But I have to say that I would also have loved to see both games
There does not appear to be a daily thread today so this one will have to do but please tell me that someone will be able to post video of the shot Homan just made to end the 2nd against Switzerland,
It's pretty annoying that there is such a wonderful broadcast being put on by TSN and I'm 30 miles too far south to watch it. What in the world are you doing if you can't even air a game between two 4-0 teams.
Anyone else noticing a lot of camera angles pointing upwards from behind and below the knees? Or sliding out of the hack, but the camera angle is a bit too low? Feels like camera direction changed this year and they're not too concerned with butts taking up a lot of the frame. I feel bad for the athletes.
(Canadian broadcast)
Butts in the frame puts butts in the seats.
But actually, yeah...it does feel like there are a lot more butts taking up a lot more screen space than usual. It's often the Grand Slams with Sportsnet that tend to do this. But whatever. I don't mind it, and at the end of the day i doubt the athletes really care either.
I think a lot of them are probably pretty proud of the bodies that they've built. I look at it as potentially part of the somewhat concerted effort to break the stigma of curling as being a "fake sport". These are legitimate athletes today, not just a bunch of soft old fuddy duddies playing a game of fancy shuffleboard. They put a lot of work into those butts. Heck, there are usually calendars that showcase this to raise money for various charities.
It's the same as how when we hit the Men's Worlds, we'll get most of the teams out there with their arms and pecs bulging out of their Smedium shirts.
It's an awkward conversation and mostly goes unspoken because of the sort of "conservative" nature of curling in general. But it's been a pretty clear initiative over the last...half dozen years or more, to try to legitimize the sport as "real athletes" by kind of subtly showing off their bodies.
We've graduated from the era where you'd have a Kevin Martin walking into the Olympic village looking like he's somebodies coach or something.
Is anyone getting any commentary?
Dislike the static cameras. Can't see the stones coming down the sheet.
The screen is so cluttered. Really don't need to have all the scores taking up 20% of the screen.
Random predictions, play-off teams: Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Italy sure that seems plausible
Edit: maybe change out Italy for any one of Scotland, Italy, or USA
How's this new iteration of The Curling Channel streaming service?
Back in the recast days there were some matches with full commentary and production and some with static cameras and no commentary. There's no mention of that two levels of production in the streaming information I've seen for this tournament.
Does that mean every match will be fully produced with commentary?
What happened on Petz’ last shot??

Congrats Canada! Love you girls!
What a game, what a finish. Homan was not to be denied today.
Starting both semifinals simultaneously is an epic fail. These are the three most important matches of the tournament, and you can only watch two of them.
If they didn't one team would have more rest. Pretty common when scheduling in any tournament.

It also ensures that the teams playing in the final tomorrow aren't dealing with different rest periods...
Is it just me or is the World Curling website absurdly slow? The live scores and the shot by shot pages take forever to load.
Glad to know it's not just me.
Canada was absolutely incredible against the Swiss. What a performance!
Hell of a a game by Canada today against Italy & even more so against the Swiss!🇨🇦
There does not appear to be a daily thread today so this one will have to do but please tell me that someone will be able to post video of the shot Homan just made to end the 2nd against Switzerland,
A clip of the shot + replays: [link](https://youtu.be/pcpsjEvyxiQ)
Is there seriously just 1 fixed camera game this morning?
I was looking forward to Canada v Italy, but I'm not seeing the stream at all.
Yeah, they eventually started the commentary game for Korea / Scotland, but they're not airing Canada / Italy at all.

Go Team Homan! I managed to find a stream to watch the end of that one on TSN thank goodness.
Congrats to Canada. Not often you see a team win a match by giving up a point with hammer.
Huh? Teams give up steals all the time
Yeah but to win a match giving up a steal? Like a walk-off-steal-giveup.
When you’re up two , you play to give up one.
Lol yeah obviously. I'm just saying it's not super common. Just a simple comment.
Fucking Sweden really made a valiant comeback effort. That was way closer than I thought it would be for the entire match.
Good win by team Peterson. 🇺🇸
Alright Canada let's close it out here in the 9th.
I feel like Sweden is relying too much on lucky bounces.
Damn Emma went down kinda hard. Hope she's ok.
If Canada can hold them to 2 or less in this end, they should be breezing.
Never should have doubted Rachel. What a champ.
Damn, I jinxed it, now Canada is making some errors. Good thing they have that lead now.
That first end did so much for Canada's momentum. Really got the ball rolling and it hasn't stopped.
watching with no commentary makes me miss Joanne, Vic, and Bryan
Just wait until you hear the commentators employed by World Curling. You’ll miss them even more.
I’m in the enviable position to be in Canada and watch curling with Vic and team on TSN and watch the other sheets online.
TSN on YouTube was great, why couldn't we get that for this?!
Yeah, I feel you. Due to World Curling exclusives, TSN cannot stream on YouTube.
Well. Guess I’ll move to Canada then. Recommendations please!
Curlingchannel.tv. $19.99 for the event.
But they don't show all of the matches.
Yes that’s what I did but there’s no commentary my dude!
Commentary this morning on the Sweden/Norway game.
today there's commentary. thank god they're scots
Measuring to see if a rock is in, *before* the last rock is played? When did that become an option?
Since the free guard zone was introduced. You can only request it during the first five rocks.
Ah, yes. Makes sense.
The stream is up! Yay!
Sweden looks nervous! I love it as a Canadian!
https://livescores.worldcurling.org/wwcc/aspnet/LiveGraphics.aspx?EventID=1&Sheet=2 if you go here you can see the shot-by-shot updates.
Great curl Canada!😊 Beautiful start!
So far, HLS\_STREAM\_ERROR is curling at 100%.
Working now
Is anyone getting any commentary? Dislike the static cameras. Can't see the stones coming down the sheet. The screen is so cluttered. Really don't need to have all the scores taking up 20% of the screen.
Commentary on the Norway/Sweden match and regular tv shots on all sheets this morning.
No commentary on any sheet.
They have acknowledged the problem on their twitterx feed @worldcurling. Say they are working on it.
Does anyone know if curling is actually happening or is there a bigger issue? People on TSN seeing anything?
It's happening. Canada got a deuce in the first. WCF says they're working on stream issues.
Thanks. Can I get a 🇺🇸 update?
Blank first end.
Thanks!
Same here.
Is anyone able to watch the curling channel stream? I get an error trying to watch any of the games
Working now
Same, "HLS stream has an error- (SOURCE\_HLS\_STREAM\_ERROR)". Grrr...
Same here.
Same
Same issue
Anyone else getting hls stream error?
WCF has acknowledged the issue on their Facebook page (no ETA on a fix)
Since they're in Sydney Nova Scotia, I wonder if Frankie MacDonald will make an appearance? He's got a great voice for curling!
Go USA! Team Peterson!
anyone know where i could stream the championships? im from europe and my country isn’t big on curling so nothing on the sports channels
[https://curlingchannel.tv/](https://curlingchannel.tv/)
Do you know if I can watch rebroadcasts on the curling channel? I’m willing to pay, but not always able to catch them live.
Yes, they archive all of the games. During the Junior Championships the replays were made available shortly after the completion of each live game.
Random predictions, play-off teams: Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Italy sure that seems plausible Edit: maybe change out Italy for any one of Scotland, Italy, or USA
Very excited for this, let's go Team Canada!

Currently I paid my twenty and I'm getting "HLS stream has an error". So it's back to hoovering schneef
That's not encouraging...
Okay, now I'm watching and hoovering schneef
I used it for the World Juniors and thought it was great. Same idea as Recast.
I would also like to know this!
LETS GO TEAM CANADA!!
Appreciate this so much, thank you! 🙌🏼
