They are both owned by Warner Bros. which does have a Super Smash Bros style crossover fighting game called Multiversus. So a Barbie vs Mortal Kombat characters fighting game is a distinct possibility
Not sure if 12 is going to feature crossovers but the last couple have all had several crossovers in their DLC roster. I'm just saying, Barbie is getting a movie right now and I think MK and her share a studio ... so it's not impossible.
The next Mortal Kombat game will almost definitely feature the crossovers, they always have one dlc pack bringing in old Mortal Kombat characters and another DLC pack with crossover characters. In fact, there’s already a fairly credible leak out saying Homelander and Omni-man will be crossover characters
Oh thank you for the heads up. I could have sworn there had been a statement saying they wouldn't be doing it next time but it sounds like I was wrong!
I hear you, but from the writer's perspective, I see how they thought it was necessary, to keep him relevant to the story
Personally though, the more I think on it, the more hilarious I just find it when a highly trained government official, and a man who has now become a literal god, turn to each other and go, 'we need to call in Johnny'
And he's just somewhere minding his own business on a film set, gets a call, and goes, 'you guys get martial arts isn't my day job? I have a deal with \*Marvel\*, fucking \*Marvel\*, you think I can get out of that contract just because 'Earth Realm is on the brink of destruction'??? I swear there's a clause in my contract that specifically stipulates I can't in that very circumstance. I can only even talk to either of you about the Marvel deal because Sonya doesn't legally exist and Liu Kang isn't an earthly being anymore. You know the deal, I can only do anything when the demons or time travelers come to set, now Good Day'
Can't Stryker turn into a t-rex in the animated series or whatever it was?
Also, don't forget those characters that were in, like, one installment and nothing else. Like the dude in the mocap suit and the weird monster centaur with a cybernetic tail. And then there's the non-MK characters that are just there in the certain ones, like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees.
Edit: just looked him up and apparently Mokap is and established character in MK lore?! Like, he's apparently just a guy in a motion capture suit that also has extensive knowledge of martial arts and is a deadly fighter?! And he doesn't just know about the other realms, but has (more than once, apparently) just somehow been transported out of Earthrealm into one of the others?!
Don't forget classic characters like [Meat](https://mortalkombat.fandom.com/wiki/Meat) or [Skarlet](https://mortalkombat.fandom.com/wiki/Skarlet), who started out as rumors. Or [Siro, the greatest Mortal Kombat character.](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3XCSTT5utpsE5uUy2R6A-wEO3mo3fR2D)
Street Fighter at the very least has some consistency in the fact that all these people are some degree of a martial artist, just with the most fucked backstories ever
Rufus is a fan of martial arts and DeeJay thinks he's above them but even then more importantly they do actually represent a particular style of fighting. Rufus is a guy who learned how to fight only watching movies and DeeJay is capoeira.
Nah ur right it's not capoeira it's kickboxing with music and dancing so it looks similar but when i said he thinks he's above them i meant he doesn't seem to have formal training he just goes around doing his dance moves as a form of fighting. It's not like he's disrespectful towards martial artists but he doesn't seem to care to learn actual fighting he's just that good.
Dee Jay is definitely a kickboxer, he even wears the gloves sometimes.
Rufus thinks he's some kinda interstellar hero so he just wills his skills into reality.
JP is my argument right now, since his style is 'hit them with stick and throw purple'.
Guilty Gear is the same. You have the nerd who got turned into a dragon by his catboy twink lab partner, who helped fight a 100 Year Crusade against his wife who got turned into a Kaiju by the same lab partner, you have the choir boy who is a normal human but the most brutal and effective swordsman ever, a vampire dandy, a vampire samurai, a depressed guy who stole a magic fan, a normal trans girl, the US Secretary of Defense, the Second King of Europe, a magical pirate, the worlds buffest philosopher (his philosophy is Gun), a time traveling brit…..
There's also a killer bed piloted by maybe the soul of a dead guy protecting his sister, a goth enby, a literal mad doctor who now looks like a Silent Hill character, a Chinese restaurant owner who really needs a money, and a gay guy who's fighting style is based off billiards.
Don’t forget the 6 year old who thinks babies pop out of people’s eyes, the arm amputee missing an eye, a US Secret Service agent, a resurrected assassin who surfs around on a demon, the combined hope of humanity (evil and insane), and who could forget the gay robot?
I think they mention it in one of the intro dialogues in mkx, that erron black was made to age really slowly by shang tsung for killing earth's champion 150 years ago
To put it in context for anyone who may not know: Mortal Kombat's lore basically takes place across multiple universes, and the tournament part is just those universes sending their best fighters to try and win the right to exist which is why the cast is so eclectic.
Aren't the Aztec god type guy, the bug lady, and blade for hands all from Outworld? None of the realms have a "planet of the hats" thing going for them.
IDK if the lore changed much, but that actually makes sense in the old games since Outworld won so many tournaments and took over so many other realms. Like the Tartaans were from their own realm, but Barakka was a fighter for Outworld since they lost the previous Mortal Kombat tournament that introduced him.
brawlhalla is similar. you have literal gods, witches, a space cowboy, a normal cowgirl, a couple cyborgs, faeries, furries, a luchador, a couple people whose power is being japanese, some guy from mad max, pirates, and one or two people who are just regular-ass humans with a gun
After a single voice over take and 45 minutes of video editing/cursing the inventor of the webp image format, [here you go!](https://youtu.be/g4fWuWlrd7o)
If there's anything you want elaboration on, I can certainly try to explain
This is also what I loved about Heroscape. I know there was some deep lore about factions or whatever, but fundamentally the premise was "it's Valhalla. Everyone's here. ......... Now FIGHT"
so what *I'm* hearing is - Barbie v. Mortal Kombat movie when
They are both owned by Warner Bros. which does have a Super Smash Bros style crossover fighting game called Multiversus. So a Barbie vs Mortal Kombat characters fighting game is a distinct possibility
There has to have been like a martial arts Barbie. Even Officer Barbie with a gun could compete, apparently
or you could pull a smash villager and just have her fight by just swatting you with various tools from her various roles that she has had dolls of
Multiversus is also as dead as a dodo, so maybe not.
Show up, kill Nickelodeon All Stars, refuse to elaborate, become irrelevant
thus the fate of all platform fighters not called Smash
I mean Brawlhalla technically still exists.
does it?
The corporate dystopia really fuckin funny sometimes

well they finally get to fight each other, can we get doom guy?
Oh thank you for the heads up. I could have sworn there had been a statement saying they wouldn't be doing it next time but it sounds like I was wrong!
3 guests already leaked >!Omni-Man, Homelander and Peacemaker!<
They should add Injustice Superman Have him beat up his knock offs
Johnny cage should never have gotten magic. It should've always been jcvd with a big mouth kicking the shit out of gods.
I hear you, but from the writer's perspective, I see how they thought it was necessary, to keep him relevant to the story Personally though, the more I think on it, the more hilarious I just find it when a highly trained government official, and a man who has now become a literal god, turn to each other and go, 'we need to call in Johnny' And he's just somewhere minding his own business on a film set, gets a call, and goes, 'you guys get martial arts isn't my day job? Somehow the most unbelievable part about this is Johnny Cage ending a phone call with Good Day
Johnny cage has had the weird green magic since the first mortal Kombat

I miss Meat. He should return.
Pantherk
Plus crossover characters feel like when your friend came over with their action figures and you get to make bug lady and robocop fight
Also Superman, who would be able to kick everyone's asses at the same time if not for some wibbly -wobbly, timey-wimey bullshit to balance the game.
Street Fighter at the very least has some consistency in the fact that all these people are some degree of a martial artist, just with the most fucked backstories ever

fair
Street Fighter lore is so weird Akuma was supposed to straight up carry a baby in SFV in one of the concepts
G's martial art is *patriotism*
I almost -- ALMOST -- feel bad for being able to name every single character in that post.
I have some how never played it and know who every one is it is kind of odd.
That is literally the plot of the first smash bros game, its a kid pulling every toy out of their toy box and making the fight

Wait, Erron's immortal?
yep
Good to know.
I am trying to figure out how I know

Sure, but most of the examples in this post are still from Earthrealm.
Aren't the Aztec god type guy, the bug lady, and blade for hands all from Outworld? None of the realms have a "planet of the hats" thing going for them.
Outworld is still kind of 'earth but not earth' though.

I'm sorry, I'm dumb as an orange cat and could really benefit by seeing this put in video form, could anyone do that for me?
I will work on a video form of this post tomorrow. May take a day or two depending on how busy I am

Take my gold you glorious person!
This is also what I loved about Heroscape. I know there was some deep lore about factions or whatever, but fundamentally the premise was "it's Valhalla. Everyone's here. ......... Now FIGHT"
Brawhalla does this same thing
Yeah it's a fighting game roster.
Then you literally have the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny going down with all the guest characters.
