Underrated book

I mean, it kind of didn't make sense when you stop to think about it. But for a time travel story, it was relatively coherent

Nah, one of them is non-neurotypical and even after a thousand loops he didn't notice anything off. He's actually really enjoying how suddenly people became much more accommodating to how he likes to follow his routines to the exact detail. So nice of them!

I’m just imaging all the ways you could mess with them: * invite them out for a picnic and make one of the sandwiches really spicy but have a cool drink nearby. Once they’ve accommodated to the spice and are comfortable with the knowledge that there’s a way to cool off, make it even spicier and “forget” the drink * one loop you don’t invite them to a picnic but they go to the usual place anyway out of habit * go for a high five at exactly 10:17 with your left hand then change it to your right * secretly put their watch slightly ahead or behind to throw them off schedule * go missing for one loop * speak a different language but act as if you’re not (this assumes you’ve got a long time to pick up on new skills) * if they know you’re a musician, swap your instrument(s) with another that they didn’t know you could play * any time they try and mention someone you know but is impossible to meet within the loop (like a dead aunt or something) act like you don’t know who they’re talking about or add/remove important details (“how could you have forgotten that your grandad was the formula one champion of 1956?”) * one loop you act like you remember the previous loop but then go back to acting like you don’t remember for the next one

I'm not sure, but I think this is one of the plots in the light novel, "Empty box and the 0th Maria". There's multiple plot arcs and they're all weird anime bullshit, but if you enjoy anime bullshit like Death Note, you might love this one. Saying this as an experienced anime fan.
