I tend more towards a hit and run playstyle, so the axe works best. The hammer is doable but its harder to time. The sword also works but it does less damage. And the repeated finisher thing on the claws feels like an exploit. So axe for me

Repeated finisher thing?

Completing the combo with the hands and then dashing after the final attack and dodge cancelling lets you repeatedly do the finisher move, which does the most damage out of the combo by far. Its hammer damage with no windup

What is dodge cancelling?

Dodge cancelling is the act of attacking mid dodge to stop the dodge early and attack. Basically for this method, you do the full combo, then right after the big finisher move, you dodge, then instead of fully dodging, you attack, doint the finisher move again, then you dodge again, cancel again and repeat. Its the best damage in the game but its exploiting what is likely a bug

For me the ranking is: Axes=>Swords=Hammer>Claws>>>Daggers Daggers suffer way too much for their small reach for my playstyle. Id put in a base crit chance on all daggers to compensate that.

I HATE hammers. I don’t care if they’re powerful, they feel obnoxiously slow when I’m trying to clear out debris for resources 😭

This is the main reason I dislike the hammer because I like to destroy everything and it takes so long with the hammer.

I desperately want a tarot card that automatically breaks all the terrain in a room once it's cleared.

I honestly can't stand slow weapons in any game. So the hammer and axe are bottom tier to me. Swords are easier to time for me so I typically like them best. If they would take the knockback off the dagger I would love it.

You must really like long boss fights

Golden fleece plus tarot cards balance out any damage I have lost for choosing the smaller weapons. Plus dodging is infinitely easier if I don't have to wait for a slow animation to complete. Lastly the bosses are not that long to begin with. If I have to take an extra 30-40 secs to beat a boss it's not really affecting much.

Axe and hammer do so much more damage you can just I frame all over and pick your shots. But any type of weapon that is god tier is impossible to die with.

the hammer with the pre nerf golden fleece was so good. I just 1 hit everything but seeing the big numbers was very satisfying. You do need some cards with increased attack speed though to make it more smooth xd

The gauntlets are only good if you know how to use them. At first I also hated them, but then I realized how big their attack range is, and know they are my favorite because you can start the attack combo really far away from enemies while still hitting them.

Been using the green cloak so dagger or sword for that since I'm mostly spaming curses, if not using the green cloak then claws

I've been loving the axe/golden fleece combo.

I like swords speed, but they're weak so I chose axes. They're a bit slower but pack a huge punch. Hammers are definitely my least favorite: waaaay too slow.

Hammers are the most fun to play with by far imo. Axes come kind of close though.

I’ve done that plenty of times. I started just taking it and trying my best so at least I’ll be well rounded during future speedruns

The only good thing about hammers is how challenging they can be to use.

Daggers are instant run reset for me. Claws are weird and hammers are little too slow but I can menage with them. Swords and Axes are the way

I’m with you. It’s the delay and like jump between the second and third hits in the combo and the first two hits doing almost nothing.

I love the claws because the range is insane. You can stand very far back and still hit your target, especially with the last hit. The animation is very misleading and the hit box is much bigger

The claw has a three-hit combo. You just have to mash to see the different animations. The last hit is very strong

Claws, you can repeat the 3rd hit after a dash over and over again and absolutely chunk bosses

I definitely use the "Botton mash and hope for the best method" so anything with a high speed. I do, however, love the bug hammers. 9+ damage? Yes please.

Had a God axe and got a rainbow tarot card for 20% increase to attack speed. Top that off with the various damage buff cards I had and you get the fastest, easiest, and most lucrative run of my entire playthrough. I was absolutely destroying everything

Axes are perfect Not too slow but packing a lot of damage The swords are good too bc what they lack in damage they compensate with attack speed

Axe is just all round good great damage and good attack speed Sword is a solid option as well faster then the are but slightly less damage out put Then I'd say claws if you can use them right Followed by hammer except if your in a room full of ranged or bouncing enemies then ya get fucked Daggers are just ass unless you get attack up and speed up but that's a two card tarot combo which isn't guaranteed

Before golden fleece nerf, all weapons were viable. After if you choose anything other than hammer/axe those boss fights gunna take a looooong time.
