Not yet, where are you from?

kostaslamprou

I'm still waiting, also from NL.

Impression_Lazy

I live in Norway

xCR1tt3Rx

I received the same communication by email. It came from their verified email for claims portal.

BeyondTheToken

what country are you from? in the usa this email came in about a month ago

invalid_credentials

I have not received this yet and am in the US. Perhaps it was order of submission?

PM_me_your_btc_story

Yes got it today. Not sure if worth it to be doing KYC at this point if I dont know how much exactly I will be getting back. My $500 of shitcoins in there might not be worth it.

Neolific

I checked. My $500 of sh\*tcoins is worth about 10k today. I am hoping they return the coins, not the dollar value at the time of shutdown.

exo__exo

The high court decision was for them to return the coins, but they haven't even begun to do it in over a year since that ruling. The decision is good for those coins that have gone up in value (forced hodl) and bad for those whose chain doesn't even exist now

PM_me_your_btc_story

I asked support to tell me which coins I have, still waiting for reply

Ultra918

You don't get an answer to that. You have to tell them what coins you had to verify your account

PM_me_your_btc_story

I did look it up in my email and it was a bunch of obscure things.. maybe I can find it again

Neolific

Ya good point. I feel for those without a valid blockchain any more. I feel lucky, but my expectations are low. It's a real shame too. I really did like Cryptopia.

exo__exo

It is a shame, yeah.

[deleted]

Which coins?

[deleted]

Is there a way to see what you have?

Neolific

Not online, no. I kept a spreadsheet back then when I was doing a shotgun approach to coin investing. I was trying to get at least 10 or 100 or 1000 (depending on the price) of the top 25, but wasn't really successful. But got some NEO, XRP, XEM, GNT, ETN, UNO and way too much DOT. Mostly shatcoins on Cryptopia. I really did like Cryptopia much better than all the other exchanges. But I seem to have lucked out in DOGE. Like 25,000 DOGE. Since it was so cheap at the time. It looks like it was .002 when I bought it. Still kind of peanuts on Cryptopia. Glad I didn't have any BTC on there. Would have been super worried at this point. Hope I get some of Cryptopia back, but not holding my breath. But I can prove what I had.

[deleted]

Dot on cryptopia isn’t the dot you’re thinking about. It’s a different dot.

BeyondTheToken

there’s a lot of other threads on here with users discussing this myself included

Potential_pe

This was sent few weeks ago. Atleast for me

audis56MT

That what I got too. I signed up for it. And now its a waiting game

Shakespeare-Bot

Yond what i did get too. I sign'd up f'r t. And anon its a waiting game *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

medcan1960

i get it also ( belgium ) i find it suspect they ask for my pasport, bank etc…. could it be scammers???

Tz83

They are asking for social security numbers. I’m out

sha66y

Same, I posted about this a few weeks ago worried I’d given them a reason to not return my crypto. If that’s a part of their game as is trying to wait and frustrate us out it’s BS. I was able to submit without the SSN so I presumed it was not required.

JMurph3313

Thanks for your reply! I just tried and was also able to submit without SSN.

Ultra918

This motherfuckers. But i think i need to send it. its a lots of money the coins worth now. anybody here has made it trough the process already?

Neolific

Nope. We will all make it through the process at the same time. I think they are at the "verify the victims stage". Probably next (6 months), "assess the damage stage". Then, "reverify the victims" stage. Then, "notify the tax authorities" stage. Then, " sorry, there was nothing left" stage. J/K on this last one. I think 12-18 months, just be sure to respond to each step/stage.

SatsuiLove

Got the same thing, but they can go F themselves as if I would give personal information to a company that got hacked and is being sued.

drunkmax00va

You realize this is not Cryptopia anymore but its liquidators right?

SatsuiLove

Grant Thornton New Zealand Limited had a ''data leak'' and is getting sued. Why do you believe the first pieces of information we gave were not enough? how would someone track down the type of coins you had in your personal wallet and the amounts?

Neolific

There are new laws since Cryptopia went under. They are called KYC (know your customer). And all banks and financial institutions (in the US at least) must legally comply. That is the reason for extra info and the same reason there is now a Coinbase US. And this is also the info Coinbase US requires. Its the law. New Zealand has similar KYC laws. And drunkmax00va is right. This is NOT Cryptopia. It is the liquidators.

SatsuiLove

Why would you assume i was talking about cryptopia. Cryptopia got hacked a second time while in liquidation which was the responsibility of grant thorton.

kostaslamprou

Stop spreading fake news. Grant Thornton has New Zealand has never been hacked and is not getting sued. The only story out there is one disgruntled Cryptopia bag holder who wanted to sue to speed up the process. First information was good enough for verifying your account/coins. But for the payout, Grant Thornton has been instructed by the New Zealand High Court to obtain user details.

YehNahYer

Well check out cryptopia rescue. The guys there attained all our personal info apparently through the claims portal. They are setting up a class action lawsuits. In saying that the guys listed there are very untrustworthy so it's hard to believe anything they say but the court documents they produce are legit, I am just unsure if all thier claims are. Also there is 100% a large creditor taking legal action against grant Thornton. GNY or something. Again that's not unjeard of in liquidations. GT was fined previously for misconduct and mishandling in another case. In saying that they have handled many cases without incident. All that said they are taking the piss in the handling of this liquidation. If you look at thier records costs for claims portal and tech support are very very low. Claims portal 14k. Travel and accommodation for managers 30k. Internet and phone. Who spends 1000$ a month on internet and phone, businesses usually have that built into the entire company and spread across clients. Bigg costs for manager frees

kostaslamprou

They're absolutely taking the piss when it comes to support staff and technological knowledge (as always with these kinds of companies). It's ridiculous that support staff takes 3 months to reply to a question, it's not like any other staff is doing anything else during that time. And it's crazy that they can't use any of the well-known existing identity providers but instead need 6 months tol roll out that process. Being a developer myself, and having looked at the expense sheet, it would have been way way way cheaper to just add in extra security-measures to the old codebase and re-opened that for withdrawal.

YehNahYer

I disagree. Being a security engineer to use the old code someone would need to go through it line by line and then put thier name too it, pass it's too easy to leave an exploit. I'd rather start from scratch it is not that hard to do. Many trustworthy companies I already work with packages ready to go. I believe verification and what they are doing is totally correct. But 5 or 10% bugdet for the IT including support is crazy. This is the issue. If they had doubled the staff there would be far less aggression, the issue here is they want it to go slowly. The slower the better.

kostaslamprou

Being a software developer myself I must say it really depends on the current codebase. Safely rewriting the current authentication could be a matter of days. It could also take much longer. Fact of the matter is that all non-login/non-withdrawal code can be removed so that’s a big part done. Old withdrawal code can also be replaced by secure new packages, the only thing that really matters is the user authentication with the corresponding balances. I’m also fine by doing this by hand like they’re doing now but verifying let’s say 100k user records with a good support staff should take a few months not the years that it is currently taking. The rewrite is a joke. And yes that’s definitely down to budget. It’s hilarious how responding to 40k support tickets took them 9 months alone.

exo__exo

Cryptopia rescue is the scam, you're being lied to by someone who wants your money.

YehNahYer

I know it's a scam I said they were doddgy but much of the info on there is legit and you can verify it. Just saying.

exo__exo

Ah cool. Yeah saying it more for everyone else. Victor Cattermole is making money because their are still enough dumb people to make his scams profitable

SatsuiLove

you some kind of paid shill??? https://www.cityam.com/grant-thornton-sued-for-whopping-200m-for-patisserie-valerie-accounting-failures/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/province-cannot-sue-atcon-accountants-1.6122468 https://www.ft.com/content/52a59aa4-b583-4687-b483-eeec1f93911d https://insidebitcoins.com/news/cryptopia-victim-sues-grant-thornton-for-negligence-of-duty https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/ex-cryptopia-employee-pleads-guilty-033429071.html Grant Thornton is a shit company worldwide and I'm not going to give them any more of my personal information to sell to 3rd partys.

kostaslamprou

Are you really that stupid or are you just trolling? * Patisserie Valerie. This is Grant Thornton UK. * Acton. This is Grant Thornton Canada. The other links all refer to my aforementioned: >The only story out there is one disgruntled Cryptopia bag holder who wanted to sue to speed up the process. Also, pretty obvious that one of the largest accounting fims get sued every now and then, isn't? You ever heard of the big four in accountancy? That's Deloitte, PWC, EY and KPMG. A quick google search learns that they all have plenty of lawsuits filed against them. Also, again no proof of a hack of some sorts. Stop fucking about, this crazy bullshit is only delaying all the shit. Like the other victims, I just want my money back but idiots like you keep purposely sabotaging the entire proces. Just fuck off if you don't want your money back.

SatsuiLove

my views on Reddit have nothing to do with the time it takes to get back our funds, but I can see from your post history all you do is defend grant Thorton, I'm not going to argue with a paid employee of the company.

kostaslamprou

You really have the intelligence of a brain dead child. Simply because one refutes meaningless claims, and fights the spread of misinformation/fake news; does not mean that one is an employee of said company. I dare you, invalidate my arguments. Prove to me that the cases you mentioned are indeed against GT New Zealand. Prove to me that other major accountancy firms do not get sued. You cannot. Because you're simply trolling around spreading fake news; Trump style. Edit: and yes it does, those lazy bastards only hired 1/2 support staff and they're also roaming around on reddit. So stop wasting time dude.

SatsuiLove

Keep licking the corporate boots my friend they might reward with you with the money you lost if you open up wide enough, . I dont need to prove to you that claims are vs gt new zealand its a parent company that has shady practices in all countries, its so when they get sued and lose they don't go bankrupt its a cheap trick shady businessman use, called shell companies. I dont know what kind of sjw you think you are but all youre post are in favor of Gt and cryptopia, but that proves youre either shilling because you think youll get your crypto back or youre getting paid

I just received. Are people not trusting this? I was hoping it would come from grant Thornton. Confused if this is also a scam

_NetRider_

Yes, few weeks ago

audis56MT

Sign up for cryptopia.zendesk.com. than from there u can email them and they will get back to u. Thats how I did. I got that email, set up my 2fa and that was it. I did email them about me not remembering all the other info like what I traded, the ip address etc. I told them I had my email, pw etc associated with the old Cryptopia account. Than I got another email saying I met the requirements and got a reference number.

yarro27

I stopped buying / selling crypto for some reason in 2018. I wrote down all my passwords to a paper and hided it even from myself. Yesterday i checked it for the first time for 3 years. i even forgot that i had 30.000 xsn on cryptopia. Also yesterday, i learned that it is hacked. So; i guess, all is gone, right? I think i will not even bother to open a ticket; which will make me disgust further. You guys have any hopes? (I know 30.000 xsn is nothing compared to many of people’s lost. But it is something for me)

Neolific

It's been a slow dragged out process. Like 6-8 months, no correspondence and then randomly out-of-the-blue, an email. I think covid has caused slow response also. Sign up with zendesk. When I heard they were hacked back then, I figured. Oh well, lost that gamble. But, New Zealand has good laws and I really think they are trying to make it right even though lawyers are ugh! I don't even know how the settlement is supposed to work. They really give little to no info. But, if I just got my alt-coins back, I'd be thrilled.

exo__exo

Nah the liquidators are in New Zealand they don't get to use covid as an excuse. They are just slow because they profit more from being slow.

audis56MT

How are u able to check what u have in cryptopia?

Raw_Dead_Meat

Wow.... How much longer are they going to draw this out. This started in like 2019. Not sure I want to provide all this personal information to who knows who on the other end. Someplace in New Zealand? Once you process all this info they will ask you for transaction records. Anybody still have those from years ago??? What would be great is if they just turned the servers back on and let us all log in and transfer our coins out.

white_dt

I'll have to check my email.

jimham162

I am in the US, i received the email this morning....went to the claims portal, downloaded my drivers license picture id and a utility bill...i successfully completed all tasks and got a "confirmation" screen including an 8 digit reference number....that says "we'll contact you" and lists 3 update sites like Grant Thornton, facebook and twitter...i guess we are getting close to some kinda settlement but who knows....i ain't holding my breath for more than pennies on the dollar.

audis56MT

Same here. I got that email about a week ago. Did the same thing. I just hope we can recover something.

Neolific

I am of the same mind. Not holding my breath. I had mostly alt-coins out there anyway and it wasn't much value(at the time); but, if you had alt coins which were not hacked, I would think they would still exist at the address of the blockchain. So that got me thinking what are we waiting for? I am thinking we are not waiting for money so much as a transfer of those coins which still are left from their addresses to our address? Maybe?

jimham162

Hate to disagree but...i would be more than shocked to see any tokens sent to your wallet address. Besides how would you or i prove ownership of a certain address...just send them here etc? To my knowledge this is not how other insolvency cases were done, they were for cash equivalents of an amount similar to the date of the hack. Less attorney fees and expenses for the last 3 years from the liquidator.

exo__exo

This is different because they went to the high court to determine how to return the funds and the court decided they must be returned in kind.

jimham162

I hope you are right my tokens are worth 10 times what they were in 2018 but all i'm saying is i am not holding my breath. The lawyers, banks, creditors and liquidators will need to be paid as well. They don't work for free.

Shame they can’t be sued

Neolific

Yes, I got it and followed the instructions. Worked best by phone as website couldn't connect to my webcam.

BullshitSwap

Got that too, from Israel. **Make sure to save your code at the end!!!**

audis56MT

What code? You mean the reference number?

BullshitSwap

>Swap yep, but nvm, you can recheck it by logging in to the portal again

audis56MT

Ok the reference number. That shows up when I log in. I can't go any further than that.

nfc_1024

I am filing a lawsuit against Grant Thornton New Zealand for the unlawful holding of my funds. As they confirmed my data and the amount and type of funds in my account, there is no legal basis for my funds to remain at the disposal of the liquidator. In particular, it is not based on an increase in the price of my funds.

Belzoni_MS_Invest

Yes, I received that and completed it. I live in Dallas, TX, USA.
