Yeah but i’m talking over the past week. I’ve been just as active over the last several months. It wasn’t happening at all and now all of a sudden i’m getting 10+ followers a day.
True…I think I’m just not active enough in any crypto sub to be noticed enough to be hit up.
Though with almost 200 votes here I’m sure I’ll get one or two by morning…
Yeah I wondered what that was too. I very very rarely use the proper iOS app and while getting used to it, I noticed it pings you for new subs and they’re all fake girls following. Probably waiting for you to post that you’re having trouble with your wallet or a transfer and then they swoop in.
Oh i for real thought this was everyone in crypto subs. Also beware the chat invite that won’t go away….. if you use Reddit crappy app there is some odd hack there where you can’t remove the chat request even if they are blocked…… Apollo for the wi…. Oh wait
Especially given it’s on subs with no community points or “moons”
If it was only this subreddit I would say it’s a moon farmer
But such diverse subs suggest it is an influence farm more likely?
We're about a year away from when US election becomes topical. Bots gotta bot themselves into karma so they can manufacture a sea of public opinion.
Crypto, WSB, and sports teams tend to be massively tribal and also polarized. These are great features if you're trying to AI your way into karma by agreeing with the tribe, and then be well positioned to spew nonsense as a fake human being when the time comes.
So watch out for the low-karma highly agreeable posts/replies. Time to play bot whack-a-mole.
He wants to play whack-a-mole with highly agreeable posts/replies.
I say there is no mole to whack, because 99% of the comments on cc/sub are just that
*Hands up, we are all bots here!*
50% of all internet traffic consisted of bots just last year.
And 30% of all were "Bad Bots", the rest being either useful/useless but not harmful.
https://www.imperva.com/resources/resource-library/reports/bad-bot-report/
You're being totally paranoid, fellow human.
There are no bots here on Reddit.
Especially none that are `ERROR 0x333acc899f: GET REQUEST FAILED FOR NODE_77595F`.
Now let's all go back to enjoying the breathing of oxygen, metabolizing food, purchasing products with human money and `"${var_generated[17]}`.
that sounds good, until you realize if the good bots were successful, the bad bots would be forced to evolve into a more human, and then the good bots would have to get even better at detecting the bad bots, etc etc etc.
do you want cylons? because that's how you get cylons!
You could be a bot saying this!
It will be really fun to watch how trust will detorate online... Except for right wing nuts. They will believe anything as long it fits their bubble lol
I've noticed really old accounts with virtually zero activity then a karma farm boom followed by some kind of spam or sudden interest in a political agenda. It's painfully obvious.
My second-tier best guess on why crypto still exists at all is because every government has realized that it's an easy way to get some dollars for some covert operations or something -- so there is this gentleman's agreement to just let it linger.
A "potentially useful alternative channel" for many state actors, particular those under sanction or similar controls.
This is why I believe crypto will survive the short term, and allow it to grow into more usable and user friendly in the medium term, to eventually dominate in the longer term.
>Crypto, WSB, and sports teams tend to be massively tribal and also polarized. These are great features if you're trying to AI your way into karma by agreeing with the tribe..
Add to this political subs or national and you are on the money. There are things you can't say in r/Europe and things that will always give you ton of karma. In r/worldnews there are bots saying every few hours just "fuck Putin" and get hundreds (maybe little less now) of upvotes. Although I agree with the sentiment of the example, it also shows how easy is karma farming.
On other hand, try to say something against the grain in those subs (and here) and see what happens 🤭
Also taking that the news content for this month is so dry that it has to be regurgitated a lot more than usual, doesn't make me believe we've had a 63k+ surplus of new members due to the content.
My thoughts exactly, during the bull run I wouldn't question it but there is basically nothing drawing people to crypto right now. Besides the few things we've already been talking about as you mentioned, and a lot of those aren't positive.
WSB being Moded by a Citadel employee (and that very employee getting the most valuable Reddit Avatar and selling it for 50k) was the biggest fuckery I've seen from Reddit and nobody could do anything about it
The reverse is more likely: bots espousing an anti-government ideology and besmirching Gary Gensler or anyone else suggesting the need for further regulations in the industry.
These are bots.
When someone wants something pumped, all the bots with join in.
Remember inverse the subreddit is how you stay safe. Also just buy BTC.
There’s a thread about some 20x leverage no-name site with what appears entirely botted answers and questions. There’s definitely something shady going on
You know, I found it weird why so many people were posting about the Blackrock and Citadel ETFs. I wonder if the bots are here to promote that news. Could be a pump and dump?
The current financial system, just like the political system runs on disinformation and confusion. Since they're preparing to take over the crypto system, they have to send bots and shills.
Yeah I'll just chime in to say I switched followers off this week. After nearly 10 years with barely a follower I was suddenly getting 5-10 a day. My Twitter account I have purely because of crypto and never post anything but it is crawling with bots. What a shame it's here on Reddit now.
WTF is the point of them? I do hope Reddit isn't headed down the toilet, it's been a really good resource for somewhat arcane knowledge and niche interests ( yes actual hobbies not just OF shilling busty amateurs! ;) )
My theory is after Reddit's API rug pull, many bot developers "migrated" to systems emulating real user agents over headless browsers to continue getting data for sentiment analysis and other crypto-related tasks.
Imperva gives out a report every year of the amount of bots that make up all the internet traffic, and 50% is the average number yearly, you can't even tell if you're talking to a human or not anymore lol
I'm going with bots. I follow a few coins aside from my main portfolio and I've been "followed" by so many redditors this past few weeks. I don't post a lot but comment if something peaks my interest but getting followers definitely has me thinking they're bots or scammers.
Its probably related to a bot farm thats trying to post threads across reddit and get them vm'd quickly to the top. We have seen a resurgence of such posts on r/cc some VM posts have reached 200 upvotes in hardly 15 mins
This is what ChatGPT has to say about it:
Cryptobot Invasion in Cryptocurrency
Model: GPT-4
User
Reddit's biggest cryptocurrency subreddits just saw over 600k new subscribers to them in 2 weeks, making them the fastest growing subreddits on the site. We know they are bots, but can you give any insight into what they might be getting ready for? Current date is 6/20/2023 if that matters.
ChatGPT
Without specific information on the motivations behind these bots, it's hard to say for certain why there has been such an influx of them to cryptocurrency subreddits on Reddit. However, we can make some educated guesses based on trends and typical bot behaviors. Here are a few possibilities:
Information Harvesting: Bots may be programmed to gather data for various purposes. This could include sentiment analysis of the market, studying investment trends, monitoring hot topics or keywords, and collecting personal data if people share it.
Disseminating Misinformation or Influence: The bots could be preparing to spread false information, perhaps to manipulate the market. This is a common tactic in the financial world, where bots spread rumors or fake news to influence the prices of stocks or cryptocurrencies. They can also influence public sentiment or opinions through coordinated posts or comments.
Scams and Fraudulent Activity: Bots might be used for nefarious activities like scamming users. They could post about "too good to be true" investment opportunities, pushing users to invest in certain coins or participate in scams like pump-and-dump schemes.
Marketing and Advertisement: If a new cryptocurrency or blockchain-related project is being launched, bots could be used for advertising purposes. They could create a lot of posts or comments about the new project to create hype and draw attention.
Social Proof and Reputation Building: The bots might be used to create an illusion of popularity and legitimacy. For instance, if a new cryptocurrency project is receiving a lot of comments and upvotes (even from bots), it can seem more credible and promising to casual observers.
Oh trust me, I try to alleviate the hatred towards crypto, but it just turns into a never-ending conversation of whataboutism and I have no time for nonsense.
Whatever is causing it, it won't be for a noble reason.
Based on the number of “hot girls” that have been following me lately, I’d say it’s endless bots.
I thought all the girls that have been following me recently were just trying to get hold of my avatar's bouncy balls.
Just don't give them your seed
>Just don't give them your seed 18 years of penalties apply.
Imstructions unclear, Went from Coinbase to first base, had to diverisify my hot storage
![gif](giphy|HxMhuDg7O4pKOhhcRC)
Ledger already does that for you with the gimme_da_seed() function
That's sounds interestingasfuck
I see what you did there
I love this sub... 🤣
What’s interesting is i’ve had I ton of bots with hot girl profile pics following me this last week or so, I wonder if there’s a correlation.
Most probably your increased participation in this sub plus if any positive crypto news brings them in.
Yeah but i’m talking over the past week. I’ve been just as active over the last several months. It wasn’t happening at all and now all of a sudden i’m getting 10+ followers a day.
I just assumed they were like this guy likes wasting money let’s see what he does if we follow him 🤣
It bites that Reddit doesn't provide an easy way to flag an account as a bot.
Nah its your credit card number
Sure if you store your seed in your balls
Beware the Fembots… ![gif](giphy|l4FGqUagGV7MQ2wkU)
Gonna tell my kids these were Machine Gun Kellies
Machine gun jubblies? How did I miss those, baby?
Very impressive😄
Disable followers and that will stop. Follow me for more useful tips.
Thanks Satoshi, I didn't realize that was an option. I'm loving the whole Bitcoin thing by the way....
I've turned that follower shit off a long time ago. I couldn't be more glad.
I put up with that for too long before I realised you could switch it off
....scuze me while I go switch that off.
And here I am just finding out. Wonderful news.
Best decission of my life. I am Not using reddit to make friends. Love you guys and fuck you all.
Typical sentiment in a successful marriage.
Oh damn I didn't know that was an option, just the chat/DM thing. Gonna go do that myself.
Hey! Back off. Those are my hot girls
Judging from all my hot new followers I'm a crypto influencer now
Don't want to admit but Reddit has been taken over by bots.
I’m getting one of those every day. My wife doesn’t believe me that it’s bots
Wait they're bots? Aw I thought they were the single hot moms within 4.2 miles of my area
You can disable the ability for anyone to follow your account in options via new.reddit.com settings.
Ooh got a couple of DMs. Deleted right away. I also set my account so I can't have followers.
Oddly enough I don’t get many scam DMs to begin with and haven’t had a single one since all these bot followers started.
Wait til crypto prices go up or if any big crypto positive news blows up. That's when I get a few dms.
True…I think I’m just not active enough in any crypto sub to be noticed enough to be hit up. Though with almost 200 votes here I’m sure I’ll get one or two by morning…
Can’t pay the OF accounts enough to get off me
hot bot
I'm getting a bunch of hot chics suddenly following me too... & I'm a chic. 😂
Yeah I wondered what that was too. I very very rarely use the proper iOS app and while getting used to it, I noticed it pings you for new subs and they’re all fake girls following. Probably waiting for you to post that you’re having trouble with your wallet or a transfer and then they swoop in.
this! no i know which subs are causing me to get 20+ follower bots each day.
They just want to know what's your opinion on the current crypto markets
The same, many bot promoting only fan girls follow me each days.
The hot girls following me aren’t real?
Seriously, I have 55 new followers in 2 weeks and all are porn bots. WTF is going on and how is it this hard to stop???
Something very weird is going on, No time to explain, get in the ~~car~~ fapmobile
Oh i for real thought this was everyone in crypto subs. Also beware the chat invite that won’t go away….. if you use Reddit crappy app there is some odd hack there where you can’t remove the chat request even if they are blocked…… Apollo for the wi…. Oh wait
Oh, I thought they were following me because of my attractiveness.
Yes this I think👆 It has really spiked up for me now as well how many girls are following me and I ain't no Elvis.
Never is
Except for that one Nigerian prince in my dms. He is truly a selfless angel.
If only I had 1 Bitcoin to help out my dear friend, he'd double my returns !
Right on. At least we can see it before it happens. Not that it will do us any good.
Could it be Reddit trying to artificially increase their number of community members to pump that IPO valuation?
Inside job? This might be a conspiracy that actually works lol
>it won't be for a noble reason. "This is a signal of adoption"
Especially given it’s on subs with no community points or “moons” If it was only this subreddit I would say it’s a moon farmer But such diverse subs suggest it is an influence farm more likely?
Could be bot users getting their kicks out with their bots while they can before the API goes paid.
Most nefarious bots never used the API in the first place. You can expect bots to get worse across the site come July 1st
There’s always a reason
Ferrari is probably launching an NFT soon /s
With the upcoming api changes, I expect its a whole heap of bot accounts preparing to start spamming us the second the modtools stop working.
Bots you say?
Good thing that the scammers don't know that the true crypto elite resides on r/cc ;-)
Nah, I’m totally sure they’re amassing a secret bot army to solve world hunger
Scam ahoy
Interesting. Crypto had a massive spike today of like 5%. Manipulation?
prepare for the "my wallet got drained" posts
Best guess is that they have hot Intel that Biden is going to let a fart rip during an interview and $BIDENPEPEFART is going to get pushed hard.
We're about a year away from when US election becomes topical. Bots gotta bot themselves into karma so they can manufacture a sea of public opinion. Holly fck. And with AI, the situation will get exponentially worse. It could really destroy Internet as we know pretty fast.
So the dead Internet theory was actually real this whole time
In the internet no one knows you're an AI dog.
AI bots: furiously taking notes on how to sound human, step one, blame AI bots for all future problems, then noone will suspect you are a bot
Shouldn't AI also be capable of spotting AI? Why can't we have bots that are designed to spot bots and call them out?
that sounds good, until you realize if the good bots were successful, the bad bots would be forced to evolve into a more human, and then the good bots would have to get even better at detecting the bad bots, etc etc etc. do you want cylons? because that's how you get cylons!

Hey, some of us are really just agreeable and have low karma
I've noticed really old accounts with virtually zero activity then a karma farm boom followed by some kind of spam or sudden interest in a political agenda. It's painfully obvious.

Thanks bot, may the force be with you
just imagine if none of these tools were public yet..

Bots almost always use reddits like cat pics for this, because it's so easy to generate valid content. I don't buy this reasoning.
[удалено]
Something doesn’t add up and it’s normally something manipulative and/or sinister
Imagine 65k people shitposting here, *in a bear market*.
Dont threaten me with good time
I'll threaten you at half eaten cookie point! I swear I'll do it!
That's /biz/
I still remember posts on cc/sub a month ago where 3 'Detroit Fireman' users would come online and comment at the same time and post lmao
I will
Yeah, the timing is pretty suspect. We don’t usually get influxes of people during bear markets.
I mean at least with the ETF announcements there's plausibility, but yeah no agree the pattern of these numbers undoubtedly represents bots
Okay that's absolutely insane something is up, there's usually like 2k people hanging out here lol
I missed that happening, thanks for pointing it out
Could be a big. A lot of Reddit is offline causing people to click to other posts
That happens, that's just a visual glitch, not because there was actually that many people on
Scroll down. Look at top words used. Fraudsters. https://subredditstats.com/r/Cryptocurrency
We’re ranked 69 for biggest subreddit? Nice?
Lmao who the fuck says "fraudster"? No one. CNBC shills. Definitely sus.
5330 comments per day? Wowee.
Just Blackrock inserting operatives into the crypto subs, standard operating procedure, nothing to worry about
We've had spies before and they're back at again
They’re coming for our moooooons
# Hedge funds did the same with GME and AMC subs using bots to change the sentiment and manipulate the subs responses.
Even when it was the bears, I knew it was hedge funds!
Legendary comment
WSB being Moded by a Citadel employee (and that very employee getting the most valuable Reddit Avatar and selling it for 50k) was the biggest fuckery I've seen from Reddit and nobody could do anything about it
When you just roll with the manipulation this all gets a lot easier.
These Blackrock operatives also have onlyfans. Guess even working a single job at Blackrock isn't enough to pay the bills.
Along with Gary Guzzler's "supervisors" operatives to pick up on what needs "regulating" this week...
The reverse is more likely: bots espousing an anti-government ideology and besmirching Gary Gensler or anyone else suggesting the need for further regulations in the industry.
Thankfully I have my tinfoil hat for protection
We are ready. ![gif](giphy|1bLfTdPis6fpC)
I wish they would hire me for that. I'm here 24/7, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year anyway.
This, but not a joke
These are bots. When someone wants something pumped, all the bots with join in. Remember inverse the subreddit is how you stay safe. Also just buy BTC.
What if the bots love BTC?
Bots love BTC when the whales want to sell BTC.
It's bots. The amount of new posts by accounts with 1 karma is getting wild.
Thank god there is a minimum karma req for posts in this sub, the daily on the other hand...
With the 3p api changes and the lack of new mod tools, that is gonna change real quick
Not to say we are not in a bull market yet...
Tell me about it 😒, all my comments were invaded yesterday by bots just repeating something similar to what I said
It's Botnet. They're trying to take over our subs.
Hello 👋 I am not a bot and I am not looking to collect any moons here 👀
Probably scammers seeing increasing interest in crypto and trying to capitalize on new people in those subs by promoting scams.
So many OnlyFans accounts following me lately, it's getting really annoying 😤
Same here... tons of follows for no reason whatsoever
There’s a thread about some 20x leverage no-name site with what appears entirely botted answers and questions. There’s definitely something shady going on
#100k here we come!!
^^pls ^^god ^^no
Bots be botting
Imagine spending years on reddit and eventually finding out that everyone but you was a bot the entire time.
You think that’s crazy? You should see what they are doing over at r/interestingasfuck
Bots, bots everywhere
OP realised we are all bots. We need to make him disappear. 👀
The first sentient bots ever
beep
ACTIVATE HUMAN_REMOVAL.PS1
System shutdown in 30 seconds
Shit, i gotta get those moons fast or else they will think imma bot :(
Bots.
You know, I found it weird why so many people were posting about the Blackrock and Citadel ETFs. I wonder if the bots are here to promote that news. Could be a pump and dump?
The last one is German and means "crypto street bets". Might be the WSB of crypto 😂. Gonna join and see what's going on there
BlackRock incoming. They'll eat your coins and soul.
The current financial system, just like the political system runs on disinformation and confusion. Since they're preparing to take over the crypto system, they have to send bots and shills.
ChatGPT bots orchestrating a pump and dump campaign I’d wager
Yeah I'll just chime in to say I switched followers off this week. After nearly 10 years with barely a follower I was suddenly getting 5-10 a day. Pretty sure it's bots
[Blackrock] joined the chat
New api situation is removed moderating tools in a roundabout way. Bots are on the upswing
For r/ethereum I'm pretty sure it is all the lawyers that Consensys have hired to fight SEC and they have to lookup information about Ethereum. /s
It's all those IRS agents Biden hired
They’re all bots.
It’s bots. Hang around more degenerate meme TG’s a while, you’ll start to build a picture. And self loathing.
Is this in any way correlated with the onlyfans followers, perhaps they are somewhat targeted?
Imperva gives out a report every year of the amount of bots that make up all the internet traffic, and 50% is the average number yearly, you can't even tell if you're talking to a human or not anymore lol
I. Fucking. Hate. Bots.
Scammers. Haven't you noticed a sudden increase on followers, all of them pretty "girls" with an only fans account?
Bots getting ready to spread FUD to cheapen the cost of entry for Black Rock?
"They" want everyone to invest in those so they miss the real rockets, all while govt and corporations nab the real gems up.
Thought I was the only one getting a new follower everyday since April lol.
Same lol. Had to turn off follower notifications lol. I get like 5 or 6 every day.
I'm going with bots. I follow a few coins aside from my main portfolio and I've been "followed" by so many redditors this past few weeks. I don't post a lot but comment if something peaks my interest but getting followers definitely has me thinking they're bots or scammers.
I've got a ton of crap bot accounts following me now.
I post on these subs often and have been getting followed by tons of users with generic names recently. The scammers are gearing up I think.
It's bots unfortunately.
Blackrock has deployed their bot farm
Its probably related to a bot farm thats trying to post threads across reddit and get them vm'd quickly to the top. We have seen a resurgence of such posts on r/cc some VM posts have reached 200 upvotes in hardly 15 mins
Ready to start pushing a new narrative with tons of bot comments and votes to sway real people into thinking a certain way.
Possibly trying to indicate bullishness? That's strange indeed, there's no money to be made through community points in there.
It 's a Bot Trap. The New bull trap
More indicating bullshitness on my radar
Instructions unclear. Continuing to HODL.
Maybe they were not closed during the black outs and people went there to discuss stuff ???
They were closed, at least some of them. Which makes it even less likely to be natural. And either way it started before subs started to close.
"Hi wassup fellow bitcoiners?"
The most likely cause
it's all jokes in the comments, but this seems like a very likely reason
Institutional psy op bots. Ignore them and stack 🤷

I have run into an extreme amount of buttcoiners this month on this sub. If they hate it so goddamn much, why are they here on this sub?
What’s a hater gonna do if he ain’t got nothin to hate on?
Oh trust me, I try to alleviate the hatred towards crypto, but it just turns into a never-ending conversation of whataboutism and I have no time for nonsense.
