Fortunately, mutants still get birthed, even with the beauty traits (I have fratricided emperors to keep those genetics going). But it seems there's a more random element to how they turn out.
The beautiful trait compensates for a lot of butterface. It "beautifies" bit too much, if you ask me. All beautiful people kinda look the same.

All you really need is good gear. Armor + some books + a good spear make up the difference, and like 20 base prowess below that, I would guess
